Few minutes later, Lucianda got a beep on her mobile, removing the phone from her bag to read the message, she froze.
“This will be the last time you will walk away from me when I am talking to you, Lucianda Castos. Next time, I might not be so forgiving.”
The message had no name and Lucianda did not have the contact on her list, but she knew. It was from that person, Prince Hakeem. The text was so straightforward that she did not have to think twice about the sender.
Obviously, getting her private number was not hard for an influential person like Hakeem and he has no hesitation in making her know it.
Wondering if there was nowhere the man could not penetrate, Lucianda wanted to scream.
Assuring herself it would not do any good to be publicly dramatic, Luci entered her car and as the driver drove away, she decided to channel the anger and frustration she was feeling into productivity.

Walking into the house some hours later, Luci wearily dropped her bag on the hall table before walking tiredly to the opulent sitting room.
Suddenly, a figure ran to her and with a small scream, he jumped on her. Too late to take a firm hold, they both went sprawling on the soft carpet and Lucianda saw stars behind her eyes.
Laughing softly in enjoyment, Julian Castos wrapped his tiny arms around his mother.
“Where have you been, Mum? I have not seen you since morning and I missed you.” He pouted lovingly.
Her eyes had been closed while trying to regain her equilibrium but when she heard the softly spoken words from her son, she opened her eyes to look at him.
Lucianda’s gaze softened instantly with love and affection. Every time she set her eyes on this wonderful miracle that came from her womb, she could not help but feel grateful and fulfilled, despite the memory surrounding his birth.
“Hello son, I am sorry. Mummy had to go out, but fear not, I am here for you now.” She tickled his tummy on the last word and Julian gave a giggle of fun.
“Let’s play bubble berry, mum.” He cried excitedly.
Lucianda loved her son, really, she did, but at the moment, she could not control the groan of agony that came from her mouth.
Obviously, her son was also surprised judging from the way he blinked at her.
“What’s wrong, Mama?” He asked softly.
Settling for an explanation he would understand, she told him softly.
“Mummy needs a shower, son, and then food, before she can play bubble berry with her favourite man.” She tickled his tummy again.
Allowing himself to be distracted, he laughed.
“Okay Mama, but will you allow me to come with you?” He wanted to know before giving his complete agreement.
“I will allow you to come with me.” Lucianda agreed. Most times she allowed her son to stay in the bedroom while she would take a quick shower. With the door half shut, she could always listen to his chattering and respond back. It’s a mother-son moment they both cherished.
Jumping up in excitement, Julian eagerly pulled his mum to a sitting position, anxious for them to go upstairs to her room.
Pretending to be pulled by her son’s strength, Lucianda gave an exaggerated staggering and her son giggled wildly, amused with his mother’s drama.
“You are capping mum.” He told her with a big smile.
Julian Castos was a five year old boy with a face befitting the gods. So handsome with an adult chiseled cheek that would make you give a third and a fourth look, he was always the centre of attention everywhere and anywhere he went, with people staring at him, wanting to take pictures and compliment his unusual look.
Though his parents, Alex and Lucianda were also beautiful people blessed with good genes, it was still always a wonder they had such a handsome son.
If only the people would look closely, they would see that only one other person could match his look in the whole city.
But what’s more shocking, apart from his look, Julian Castos was blessed with a very mature adult brain and his intelligence was always a surprise to everyone around him, including his parents.
It was no wonder that he had been the centre of his father’s world before his demise.
And of course, the joy and the apple of his mother’s eyes.
An example of that adult maturity was the way he just told his mum to stop exaggerating.
Pretending to be shocked, Lucianda opened her big eyes in a wide eyed expression and Julian covered his mouth childishly to smother his big laugh.
Chuckling at his expression, Lucianda gave a happy sigh as she followed her son up the stairs.
As usual, with the glow of her son’s love surrounding her, she quickly forgot about her day’s troubles.
*****
The following day, Lucianda was having a nap when her phone alerted her for an incoming call.
Groggy with sleep, she turned to search for the mobile without opening her eyes and after a minute, her hand touched the phone.
Flipping the cover open, she greeted the caller with a voice that’s heavy from sleep.
“Hello?”
“Lucianda!” Just that and nothing else, but Lucianda immediately knew who it was.
Sitting up in a swift motion, the sleep immediately left her eyes as she unconsciously took a glance around the room.
Seeing that she was alone, she gave a sigh of relief. But it was not meant to last long.
With a body that was so tense, it felt it might snap into two at any moment, Lucianda’s eyes froze over.
“What’s all these Prince Hakeem? What do you want from me because I honestly don’t appreciate all these? You are beginning to look like a stalker and I wonder if it’s not time to involve the police.” She told him coldly.
Seriously amused by this, Prince Hakeem laughed so heartily. It was obvious even over the phone that Lucianda greatly amused him.
Lucianda clenched her teeth in rage.
Prince Hakeem was not just the Prince of a powerful Sheikh from the Western Asian country, he was one of the three most eligible and powerful men in London city.
Having left home at the age of twenty two, for the city of London, despite his family’s wealth, he had started his own moderate shipping company and within ten years, he had built it to something so formidable that only few could compete with him and they still would not win.
Not only rich, Hakeem was so ruthlessly domineering, few people would dare look for his trouble. His influence was so powerful, only the rich and powerful would dare give him a handshake.
But that’s not his major attraction for the public, and the bloggers most especially.
His look!
Oh Lordy!
With a strong, healthy physique, Prince Hakeem was so handsome like an Arabian god, he dazzled the eyes.
Six feet tall with a skin like flawless diamond and a chiseled face like that of a golden statue, Prince Hakeem’s dark baby curly hair completed the look of uniqueness and the only thing that usually came to mind when he’s seen was “Perfection”.
Richly wealthy with influence and power, he was one of the top most influential and eligible bachelors of the country and he seemed to be at the top of that list.
But that’s not why many people were in awe of him.
For someone like Lucianda, it’s because she knew from distant experience, how cold and ruthless he could be. He spared no one in his quest for power and control.
Hearing his voice now brought Lucianda back to the present and she gave a shudder.“Police? You amaze me, Lucianda, and I believe you should know better.” He tsk tsk in a voice that’s still heavy with humour. What he was telling her was to stop fooling around. Of course there was no police department in the country that was willing to mess with the likes of Hakeem. His power was beyond the city that it reached far beyond the shores of London and his neighboring countries.Messing with someone like Prince Hakeem would be like asking for the third World War to happen. The police department was aware of this and even the State House knew it.He might not be occupying any public seat, but Hakeem was the Prince of a powerful Emirate, therefore his connections were solid.“What I know is that your presence in my life is
Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, Lucianda told herself not to pay attention to him. At least, not until she found out the game he was playing.“Hello Prince Hakeem, you wanted to see me?” If he isn’t going to behave, then she will show him how to have some manners.Knowing she just took a dig of courtesy at him, Hakeem winced. Then with a laugh, he conceded her point.“Please come in, Mrs. Castos, I am sorry for my ill manners.” He softly apologised as he opened the door more widely in welcome.“It will not be your first time.” Lucianda murmured with a sugar coated smile that was so fake, it was obvious as she entered the big hall. But in the next moment she almost stumbled in surprise. Contrary to her thoughts, Prince Hakeem’s home is so warm and welcoming, she blinked in surprise.Having expected something else from his home judging by his cold attitudes, Lucianda was surprised to see that the interior of his home was just as beautiful and breathtaking as the exterior.‘Who
Lucianda knew she was not looking good, and there was no saying what would happen if she walked into the house the way she was.Her son was a very intelligent young man and there was no way she would avoid his questions if he should see her before she could get to her room.Keenly observant and smart, he would definitely notice there was something amiss. Close to his mother, he was emotionally attuned to her feelings.Deciding it might be best to while away the time somewhere else till she could get herself under control, Lucianda knocked on the cabbie’s partition to talk to the driver.Telling him to take her to a favorable country park, Lucianda leant back to start the process of composing her emotions.Only then could she ponder on all that had happened and decided on her next line of action.A few minutes later, Lucianda came down from the taxi and after paying the cabbie man, she walked around the park before taking a seat beside a lonely looking boy.Lost in her thoughts, she pa
Seeing that he must be one of those souls hard to convince once their minds are made up, Luci gave a loud sigh as they resumed their walk.Sam finally looked at her. “Are you sad again?” His brow was pinched worriedly.“Yes. I am sad because you don’t want to be my friend.” She told him as they entered the restaurant opposite the park.Following her to a table by the window, Sam was quiet as she gave their orders, but immediately the waitress left, he glanced at her.“I don’t mean to make you sad and I don’t mind being your little friend.” He told her.“Little friend? Aha aha, you are a big man, bro.” She told him playfully with a roll of her eyes.Sam laughed so joyously, the other diners turned to smile affectionately at them.“You are so funny, ma’am.” He said with another dose of laughter.“Okay, let’s compromise, Sam.” Luci told him with a serious face.He stopped laughing so suddenly it was as if a switch was put off.“Compromise?” He asked in a puzzled tone.“Yes. I really don’
Dropping Lucianda’s hand as they got to a rickety door, Sam raised his hand to push the door, just as it opened. Lucianda really could not say who was the most surprised. Lucianda, Sam or the sick looking tiny woman facing them. Looking closely at her face, Lucianda saw it was so red it was not normal. Intuitively, she knew the woman had been crying. ‘For the husband that left her five years ago or for something else?’ Luci wondered with some surprise. “Oh Sammie, Sammie, why are you doing this to me? Do you know how tiredly I have walked round the area looking for you? I thought you had been kidnapped.” The woman finally explained the reason behind her tears as more water rolled down her eyes. Glad to know her tears had not been for that loser of a husband that left her, Lucianda nevertheless felt some guilt. She had monopolised Sammie’s time, therefore, the fault was hers. But before she could interject, Sammie ran to hug his mum. “I am sorry, mum, but I told you before, anyt
Working into the small cafe half an hour later, Lucianda went directly to the customer’s counter to ask of the boss.Laura was bringing out a tray of meals for a customer when her boss ran to her. He almost fell the tray she was holding in his eagerness to talk to her.“What are you doing, Laura?” He cried nervously.Wondering if the boss was trying to scold her for something she had done, Laura took a step backward. Her boss could sometimes be mean in his words and actions.“I was going to serve a customer, sir.” She answered quietly.“Serve a customer? But why?” He asked in a fearful tone.Wondering if her boss was having a fever, Laura answered slowly.“Because it’s my job?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.“Yea yea, your job but not when your sister is here to see you. It will not reflect well on us.” He was anxious as he took the tray from her lifeless fingers.“My sister is here?” Laura wanted to add, ‘But I don’t have a sister?’“Yes and she is waiting for you right now in the
It's sometimes necessary to pull weights…*****Seeing the man's hesitation and reading his mind clearly, Lucianda turned to Laura.“Laura? Did I tell you about the small businesses we crushed last year? Well, I am planning to take over some more. What do you think of this place? Think you don’t mind being the boss?” Lucianda asked carelessly.Catching up to Luci’s intention, Laura gave a small smile. “I will not want to work in this kind of place, Luci, even as a boss. But I guess we can auction it off.” Laura said.Listening to Laura’s suggestion, Luci almost laughed out loud. It seemed Laura was more wicked than she gave her credit for.‘Nice one Laura!’ Lucianda mentally applauded.‘Auction my place off? My long years of hard work?’ Visibly sweating, Collins did not need anyone to interpret their meanings, he slowly walked to the counter to get Laura a bottle of water.“What is this, Collins? Of course, I don’t want lukewarm water. Get me a chilled bottle.” Laura raised her voice
On the other side of town, Prince Hakeem was busy pulling strings as he sat calmly at his desk while his close hand, Sultan, stood close by, in trembling silence. He was never sure of the duty his boss would assign to him and he was damn sure he would die of ulcer one day.“What’s the latest update on the woman?” Hakeem asked his assistant without lifting his head from the documents he was reading.“Report says she is presently at the mall with that other woman, sir, and they are having a good time chopping for her new friend and her son.” The PA reported in a nervous voice. When it comes to this woman’s issue, his boss was not a calm man so Sultan is always on his toes and at alert.“Okay. Make sure the team keeps their eyes on them. I want to know every one of her moves but she must never suspect she is being trailed.” He instructed calmly, still concentrating on the papers.“Okay sir. Everything will be done neatly.” He promised. With a small nod, Hakeem casually dismissed him.Rel
