Chapter Five

Loren's POV: 

I am the most feared Alpha to all my kind. The stories that they have been told, scare them, most know not to double cross me. If I am to attack a pack, it's for a good reason. When my warriors mind-linked me that there was somebody possibly on the lands. I took my two betas with me, telling the warriors I'll take care of it, which normally I wouldn't do but my wolf Aster was going crazy telling me to go. We traveled quickly, and what did we bestow upon? A young girl with long black hair, fighting for her life against three rogues, we watched her dodge over and over again, when she had the chance, we watched her jump on one of their backs snapping its neck immediately. Her speed quite impressive Aster was going crazy watching her. As we watched for a moment, one of rogue's knocked her off the dead wolf, tackling her to the ground, biting her shoulder and tearing at her torso with its claws while the other shook her leg viciously. Aster had taken control and charged towards her, Kai and Ryan following, the three of taking the two wolves down quickly. Then she stood up, locking eyes with me, her eyes grey, showing absolutely no emotion. Aster then howled, the words not leaving my mind. Mate. She then collapsed.

I scooped her up in my arms, her body petite, she weighed almost nothing, her body battered and bloody in my arms. Kai and Ryan quickly got the doctor to meet us, he was sworn to secrecy about all of it, I sat with her in that room for two whole days, worried waiting for her to wake up. Aster howling in pain wanting his mate to wake up. When she had awoken, I tried to hold my excitement in. Which is such a strange feeling for me. All I wanted to do is be near her, feel her, breath in her scent, which smelled of peaches, however I needed to hold myself back, for her wolf not being awake so she didn't know that I was her mate, she might have noticed the scent, however that was it.

"LOREN!" Kai yells, pulling me from my thoughts.

Shaking my head, I look up from my desk, Kai and Ryan looking at me utterly confused.

"Sorry" I grumbled; the thought of Mae caused me to zone out.

"Are you going to explain to us what she said, and why the hell that bastard Silas called wanting to talk to you?" Kai says running his hand through his hair, sighing heavily.

"She's my mate as you know." I started as i watched them smile like idiots. I sigh. "Her name is Mae Evans" Both Kai and Ryan looking surprised.

"As in Kat and AJ Evan's daughter?" Ryan asks his mouth open.

Everyone knew of Kat and AJ, the two greatest warriors ever known, they were fearless, audacious, quick-witted, anything you could think of. Both of them came from strong Alpha lines so it was no shock, however they could overpower most Alphas with the strength and agility the two of them had. Alot of packs went crazy when they found out Kat and AJ had a daughter, that was until the news came out that they were killed by rogues, and Silas had told all the neighboring packs that all three had died.

"Yes" I nod at them. "The day we found her it was her 18th birthday, she had just met her wolf, however she won't shift until the next full moon, she had found out Silas was her mate the day prior." I growl at the thought of her being his mate, Kai and Ryan had both growled in unison.

"However, her wolf Aria had no pull to him at all, so she rejected him. Beta Jason, who is basically like a brother to her, and Beta Alex, helped her escape. the pack abused her to their own extent, blaming her for the death of her parents. Reason why I'm guessing Silas called is because he is looking for her, wanting her back. I told him there was nobody of that name or description here and to never contact me again or I would kill him. So that's about all I know."

"I can't believe that Jason has been putting up with his shit, I know he only went over there because AJ took him under his wing and all, but the fact that he's Silas' Beta is just irking." Kai growls rubbing his temples. Jason is Kai's youngest brother. "Should I call him? Make him swear into secrecy not to say anything to everyone, just so he knows that she's safe."

"Wait till she's healed, if Jason is how I remember, he will not be very happy that she's injured the way is." I say to them leaning my head back against the chair, closing my eyes. "Amanda gave her a solvent to drink that should speed up her healing. I can't be mad at him for helping her escape, same with Alex, they basically saved her life, however, get the warriors up to date about a possible war happening, because the moment he knows that she is here, Silas will be pissed."

"Why would he be pissed?" Ryan asks leaning back, resting his foot on the coffee table.

"Well Mae rejected him, had the warriors and the Beta's chase after her, so he either wanted to keep her captive and just have his way with her, or kill her for no reason" I roll my eyes, angry at the fact that it's true. "He's like his damn father, should have killed him too when I had the chance."

"True, but who knew your old ass would actually find a mate finally." Kai says laughing at me.

"Kai, tell me if I'm wrong but last time I checked you're three years older than I am and you still don't have a mate." I say eying him, watching him huff in defeat.

"Yes, thank you for reminding me that I'm thirty without a mate." Kai says to me Ryan now howling with laughter.

These two have been with me since I became Alpha at just 14 years old, Silas' father killed my parents in cold blood, so I returned the favor and killed his father, his mother I spared because she had come to me numerous times asking for my help. How her so called mate had just used her for a kid, and never touched her since then would screw other women, and then kill the women he would bed with, along with killing innocent wolfs and humans. I'm bad enough however I never went to extents like that.

"You're welcome." I say to him, smirking.

"So, this little she-wolf has already broken down all those walls hasn't she?" Kai asks me, wiggling his eyebrows.

"No" I firmly say, even though it was a pure lie, "however, her wolf hasn't awoken yet from them getting injured, so I'm sure she doesn't know that we are mates." I say leaning my chair back, sighing.

Damn if the Moon Goddess doesn't work fast, she rejected Silas that day, and that day I found out that she's, my mate.

"How long do you think it will take her wolf to awaken?" Kai asks concerned, for the fact that Mae is now the future Luna, if she accepts me that is.

"I do not know, but hopefully not long, life without a wolf is hard, she barely had a chance to even really meet Aria." I reply back to him, as I watch the door to my office opens. Kai and Ryan swiveling their heads towards the door. One of the nurses walks in, normally that would piss me off, however I told them to just come to my office to tell me anything they needed.

"Alpha Loren, the she-wolf is awake, and her wounds have healed nicely due to the medicine she was given." she says bowing at me.

"Thank you, Tessa, I shall be there momentarily, please make sure she eats something filling." I say to her, as she nods.

"Yes Alpha." she says softly leaving the room.

Kia and Ryan stand up in unison, looking at me waiting for my response. Gradually I stand up, Aster howling in my head, wanting to see his mate. Kai and Ryan walk towards the door, I follow behind them.

After a couple of minutes, we reached the Infirmary, it's a short walk from my office, since its right next to the pack house. Kai and Ryan are in front of me acting like idiots, like always, but I can't help but have a small smile on my face, cause without these idiots I wouldn't be who am today really. We approach the door, where Mae is residing in. I make Kai and Ryan halt outside the door, telling them I will call them in shortly. I knock on the door; a soft-spoken voice speaks.

"Come in.."

I open the door, there sat Mae, with a tray on her lap, the food barely touched. She's looking down, her wavey black hair not allowing me to see her, hiding her, like she was in her own little fortress.

"Is everything okay?" I say, making my way over to her hastily.

"She hasn't awoken yet is all. I'm afraid she may not wake up." her voice shuddering.

I move the tray off her, sitting on the edge of the bed, turning myself to face her. Goddess being discreet about this is very difficult.

"Don't say that." I say moving the hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. I notice a slight blush rise to her freckled cheeks, making the freckles more noticeable, for I never noticed them before.

"I'm sorry." her voice so quiet, it was almost undetectable.

"Don't apologize darling, there is no reason to be." I say to her, watching her raise her head some, just so she was able to see my face.

"Alpha?" she says softly twiddling her thumbs. She's nervous.

"I told you to call me Loren." I say to her, trying to watch my tone with her. I take her chin gently between my thumb and pointer, lifting her head up more, for her to look me in the eyes. Sparks shooting up my arm, the feeling was intoxicating.

"Loren?" she says to me her cheeks now redder, her grey eyes steady on me.

"There you go." I say to her, releasing her chin from my grasp. "What is it darling?"

"Why are you being so nice? I trespassed onto your territory, from what I was told I should have been killed onsite by you." her voice was shaky, I could hear the fear in her voice, afraid to even say that to me.

"Like I said before you have sparked my interest. Normally I would kill somebody, however If they come onto my territory they are captured and questioned. If they don't comply they're normally tortured or just killed. Depends on the situation." I say to her watching her advert her gaze towards the door, where Kai and Ryan were standing in front of the doorway with their backs toward us, speaking softly to each other.

"Don't mind them two. They're my.."

"Beta's." she says softly, cutting me off.

"Correct." I say to her "Kai and Ryan, Kai is Jason's older brother." I say as the both of them walk into the room. Her eye's widening when looking at Kai.

"You both look a lot alike." she says a slight smile on her face, even though its small, it brightens up her face, making her look even more lovely.

"Do we? I haven't seen him since he became Silas's Beta, so I wouldn't know, however I did ring him to let him know that you're here." Kai says to her, pulling up a chair in front of the bed.

"Thank you, he must have been worried since I hadn't been able to message him" her voice soft.

"Tell me about it, he freaked out when I had told him you were here, he's going to try and sneak away from Silas and come here in the next couple of days, Loren he will let you know when he leaves to come here."

"Okay, that's perfectly fine, as long as he's willing to answer some questions for me." I say looking down at Mae, her eyes fixated on me, smiling a bit more,

"Thank you A-Alp.. I mean Loren." she says to me, her cheeks turning pink again.

"No need to thank me darling. Amanda said you're able to leave here now, she gave you that solvent to drink to help you heal, which worked thankfully." I say to her smiling slightly, Kai and Ryan snickering at me. Goddess help me, why is she making me act like this, I am never this nice.

"Softy" Ryan says under his breath, I glare at him.

"Shut it before I end you." I growl at him, noticing Mae flinch.

"Watch it Loren" Kai says to me, he noticed that she flinched also.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, these two just know how to irritate me." I say to her, then bend down grabbing the small black backpack that she had on her when we had found her "Here." I say setting it down on her lap gently.

"Thank you." she says and rests her hand on my arm, causing sparks to go up my arm. Aster going crazy, howling in happiness, telling me to mark her, make her ours completely. She pulls her hand away slightly the look of confusion on her face as she stares at her hand.

"Everything okay?" I ask her, Kai and Ryan had noticed it to and both of them looking at each other. Does she know?

"Yes, my arm just started to feel funny." she says to me.

"Like how?" I ask her, Aster going crazy once again, having to control him from taking over is hard, normally he doesn't care about anything but right now all he wants is mate.

"I don't know how to explain it, it's like a numbing feeling, it's strange." she explains rubbing her arm. "I only feel it when we touch."

"Careful how you say things, those two idiots back there will take it the wrong way." I say already hearing Kai and Ryan laughing.

"I don't understand what you mean. What do you mean 'wrong way'?" she asks me, her eyes locking with mine. Goddess is she that innocent?

"Never mind that." I say to her, pushing her hair out of her face again, watching her cheeks blush slightly once again, I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing her blush like that. Kai and Ryan looking at me, both of them smirking. "Kai, Ryan shut it." I say glaring at them, both of them rolling their eyes at me.

I swear I'm going to kill both of them, on  top of Aster making this hard as shit. Mae looking at me completely confused.

"Kai, Ryan go get her room ready please, she will be staying on the same floor as me." I say to them, as they were already getting up leaving the room.

"I-I'm staying?" her voice soft.

"Yes, you are. My sister should be back from Italy tomorrow, so I'll send her to get you some new clothes." I say to her as I stand up, feeling her eyes on me at all times. "Now, let's get you out of this dreadful room." I reach my hand out to her, watching her hesitantly taking my hand. The sparks shooting up my arms. This feeling is so foreign I have no idea how to respond to it, I'm trying to keep my distance, hoping her wolf will awaken soon so she can finally feel it. I've been with my fair share of women, though none have made me feel this way. Her innocence and pureness are captivating. How does one break down the walls I've built up for so long knock them down in the matter of hours.
