It was winter in Los Angeles, the weather was frigid, and snow cascading comfortably down the sky.
Ivy walked through the glass door of a hospital—she was going to see a doctor. Earlier today, Ivy felt dizzy, staggered and almost fell to the floor. For that, she decided to see a doctor. She adjusted her mask as she opened the door into the doctor's office. "Hi, Doctor Collins.." She greeted the man who had a pleasant smile upon seeing her. "Please have your seat, Mrs Taylor." He muttered, his tone calm and polite. When she sat down, Dr. Collins began inquiring about her symptoms. From there, she proceeded to the lab where her blood was drawn for diagnosis. Ivy sat quietly waiting for her results and prescription. Whatever was wrong with her should not be more than fatigue, or whatever it was, she couldn't wait to get her medications and go back to her office. She had so many works back there to do. As a team leader, her desk was always choked with work. Ivy was a very diligent workaholic who didn't joke with her job, even though her husband owned the company. She worked hard like every other employee in the company. A few minutes later, Doctor Collins called her back to his office, her results were ready. Her medications must be prescribed already, it shouldn't take much time. But when she got there, doctor Collins only asked her to sit down, she sat, but instead of handing her the medications to leave, his eyes dug into hers. "Mrs Taylor, why are you stressing yourself so much in your condition?" Ivy had her forehead scrunched together. What did he mean by her condition? When doctor Collins saw the puzzled look on her face, he realized she might not know about it. "Mrs Taylor, you're two months pregnant and you must do away with anything that's giving you stress." Ivy had her mouth open wide along with her eyes. She couldn't believe her ears. "Are.. are you serious doctor?" She asked, her breath husky and her chest going up and down. Ivy had been married for over three years without a single case of miscarriage and now she was pregnant. Just how? "Yes Mrs Taylor, you're already two months into it, you have to start your antenatal care as soon as possible." Ivy's hand moved slowly to her stomach, still in disbelief. There was a life growing inside her stomach now. She thought, her face puzzled. Doctor Collins nodded, his smile widening. Strings of joy overwhelmed Ivy's heart. She was finally carrying Ryder's child. She caressed her stomach—still flat as though there was nothing in there. But a bundle of joy was growing in there. Even though she knew she had added a few pounds, she never imagined she was carrying an angel in her stomach. Her smile brightened. This was good news for her and her family. She was sure Ryder would be so happy to hear this. Although he had been mute and never questioned her for not being pregnant all these years, she knew he was concerned about it. Ryder loved her so much and for the past three years of their marriage, he had never put anyone above her. Not even his family. Not even when his sister came trying to make her feel bad for not having a child, Ryder warned her to never come back to their home again. He was protective of her and cherished her dearly. "Thank you so much Doctor, I'll have to leave now to break this great news to my husband." "Alright Mrs Taylor, make sure to start your antenatal care on time." "Thank you." With that, Ivy drifted away. She hopped into her BMW 7-series and drove off. She couldn't wait to get home and tell her husband. She walked through that elegant door of their penthouse, her face glowing and a smile plastered on her lips as she rushed in to meet Ryder. But when she got in, the house was quiet. Ryder was usually back by this time and the TV would always be on running and loud as Ryder watched football or played video games. This was his specific time, but today Ryder wasn't at home doing any of that. Ivy wondered why. Does he have extra work at the office? That wasn't possible, as Ryder always takes this time off, to enjoy his 1-hour moment before going back to any work he had. She checked the time again to be sure, but she was right, this was his leisure period. What happened? Ivy's shoulder slumped. Where had her husband gone without informing her? He often tells her if there was a change in his schedule, what was happening? Ivy decided to wait for when he'd return, she would ask when he started behaving like this. With her sullen face, she walked into her bathroom for a quick shower. When she was done, she put on her pyjamas and hopped back on the couch to put on their TV. She was going to watch the news, as a big company, its stock price was always discussed and put on the news by journalists. She doesn't often watch this, but she needed it now to keep herself busy till her husband returned. Just as Ivy put on the broadcasting station, a recap came up. In the recap, there was an elegant lady in a very flying hat, her skin flawless, and huge sunglasses plastered on her face. She exuded elegance, beside her was who she couldn't believe it was. It couldn't be her husband right? This wasn't Ryder was it? And who was the lady?Ivy opened her eyes slowly to early morning sun rays sipping through the window. She sat up gently on her bed, stretching. When she looked at the time, she sighed. Today’s sun was too bright; otherwise, it was still early hours of the morning. She walked off to her bedroom and took her shower. A few minutes later, she was done dressing up and ready to go to work. She made a note to herself to be strong, no matter what she witnessed at the office today. She breathed in and out while looking at herself in the mirror. When she had done enough and felt even calmer, she picked up her bag and got into the hotel’s elevator. First, she'd go to Ryder’s parking lot and take her car, then she’d drive to the office. She came out of the elevator in her elegant attire, her face expressionless but very beautiful. Right then, she stopped a coming taxi and hopped inside. A few minutes later, they arrived at Ryder’s estate. She heaved a heavy sigh as memories overwhe
“Y.. Yes, it's a hotel..” she answered, her voice low. Carl nodded, he understood. Ivy left her matrimonial home to stay in a hotel—she must really hate Ryder now. It was for the best. Ryder was not a good man. From what he had seen earlier, he concluded that Ryder was not the best man for a woman like Ivy. He was indecisive and of course st*pid. Because Carl couldn't understand why he was still with Sheila after what she plotted against Ivy. He bit his lower lip in annoyance. And he was a bit relieved that Ivy no longer lived in the same house with him. “I understand. And if anyone hasn't told you this, you made the right decision,” he muttered and Ivy smiled. “Larisa already did,” she said then gave a soft laugh. “That friend of yours,” Carl said and Ivy smiled. With that, he drove to MH Star. A few minutes later, they arrived. “Thanks so much for everything Mr Wayne.” She muttered “You don’t have to say this every time. I’ll always be available for you.” He mu
With his eyes cold and teeth clenched hard, he got into his car and drove off. With Sheila seated comfortably in front of his car. Earlier she had complained of plunging into depression, and Ryder suggested taking her to a park where she’d look around to brighten her mood again. “Who’s that?” she asked, her eyes on Ryder. He sighed. Sheila doesn't know Mr Wayne, the CEO of X&Y Bags, with whom the company has an ongoing collaboration at the moment, who came to the company on the day of negotiation and she was there. Who else does she know? He knew Sheila wasn't the right fit for the role he had given her at the company. He knew so well that, Ivy deserved that position, but he couldn't bring himself to take it from Sheila anymore, it would surely hurt her. Taking it from her would only cause her more heartache. Ryder believed she was already going through so much. When they got to the park, he got her icecream and got one for himself just as Sheila wanted. “About
Carl sat in his office, his mind drifted off into thoughts. Last night, he couldn't sleep. He was tumbling and turning around on his bed till the morning sun rose. He sighed deeply, his chest heavy. Ivy was his medicine. The woman who made him sleep for once since his insomnia started many years ago. He tried to call Ivy all through the night maybe he could have a bit of sleep after that but her number never went through. He palmed his forehead. Why didn't he meet her earlier. It was clear that the lady was his soul mate, she was supposed to be his but Ryder got to her first. What does he do now? Goodness, he was devastated. He stood up, picked up his car key, and left his office. ———— Ivy got seriously busy. For some reason, she was feeling lighthearted now. After the encounter she had with Ryder and Sheila, she buried herself in her designs since in the morning and that seemed to have lightened her mood. Her designs had made her forget her nightmares for once.
Before she knew it, Sheila knelt in front of her. “I didn't know what came over me. I'm very sorry Ivy. Please forgive me this last time,” Sheila begged, her palms clasped together. Ivy looked between her and Ryder. Her stomach twisted into knots. Ryder would never stop disappointing her, he’ll never stop choosing Sheila over and over again. Gosh how she felt like crying. Tears welled up in her eyes. She balled her fist tightly and walked away from their presence. As soon as she got to her office, she threw her bag against the floor and burst into tears. Just when she thought Sheila had left and she could work on forgiving her husband and improving their marriage, she was still here. Her life meant nothing to Ryder. Even when Sheila was now a threat to her life, he still let her stay. She cried so much. Just then, the door to her office opened. She looked up to see Ryder standing above her. “She said sorry. Just forgive her Ivy. She has promised never to do
“No, no.. You can't do that to me, no Ryder, don't have me jailed, please. I’ll say it.. I wouldn't lie..” she counted, her voice frightened. “I.. I.. I was just carried away. I wanted you back so much that I didn't know what else to do. Please forgive me. I'm sorry. I'm very sorry Ryder please don't throw me out. I don't have anywhere to go.” she begged, on her knees. Then she crawled on her knees closer to Ryder and held the down of his trousers. “Please forgive me this one time. I'll never try it again. I was just desperate to have you.” she said looking up at Ryder, his face cold. “You have to leave. You're done here,” he muttered and Sheila shook once again. Her life would end here and now if she truly had to leave Ryder’s life right now. Her eyes filled with panic, she clutched her palms together and put them on top of her head “I'm sorry, I’m very sorry, give me one last chance. Where's Ivy please take me to her, I’ll ask for her forgiveness, I’ll do anything she as
Few minutes later, Ivy came out of her bathroom, in her white robe, with a towel on her hair to dry it up. The warm bath had helped calm her nerves a bit. She sat on her skin care table, in front of her mirror, ready to spend some time on her skin. Just then, Ryder came behind her. "Hey Ivy.." h
Without thinking more about it, Ryder grabbed her lips into his and began relishing on them. Ivy felt delighted, her heart dangled with bliss as her hand went round his body, while she has devoured on his lips as well. Her husband was finally back with her. --------- It was morning, light ray
Ivy lay on her bed with her eyes wide open. She wondered where her husband had gone with Sheila. Figuring she couldn't deal with this alone, she decided to put in a call to Larisa. But after calling several times, Larisa never picked up. Deep sighs escaped her lungs. Larisa was an early sle
Her face twisted in anger. Even though she tried to act strong and hide it, it could be clearly seen that she was heart broken. "Do you have to attend?" Larisa asked, feeling deeply for Ivy. "Let's go.." Ivy picked up a file and walked out of her office. She needed to see clearly the woman who h
