Chapter Nine

After Christopher and Princess left, Rose didn't move for a long time. She was rooted to the spot where they left her out of shock.

The feeling of his lips touching her and the promise she saw in his eyes are what she couldn't overlook. If she wants to get to know him or not she wasn't sure. She has never been close to a man before and after her night with Christopher. She doesn't know if the things she feels around him are just normal. When he held her hands last night and this morning she felt her heartbeat increasing.

She felt like her hands belongs in his. She doesn't remember much of what they said or did the first time they met each other but, what she feels now is no longer the Initial Fear she had for him.

When she eventually moved, she rushed to get ready before he would get back. She didn't know if he would want to take her out or, they would have to stay indoors so, she just dressed casually.

She was still in her panic mode when Christopher came back. She heard his knock and went to open the door.

"Come on in," she said when she opened the door.

"You look beautiful," he said and held her hand before she could walk away from him. "You are not dressed to go out. Don't you want to go out?" He asked.

"I... I thought you would like us to just spend the time together indoors." She said.

"If that is what you want then, who am I to say no?" He asked.

"Since you are a public figure, I just... I mean, I thought you wouldn't want your pictures to be taken and then new headlines will start circulating." She said.

He could feel her palms getting sweaty and he could see how nervous she was acting. "Let them spread any news about me if it will involve you. I wouldn't mind being on the headlines alongside you," He said.

"I mind. I don't want all your female fans to trace my address and then come and beat me up." She said and tried to pull her hand out of his.

"Ok. Let's stay indoors. What do we do now? Do you have anything in mind?" He asked.

She managed to pull her hand out of his and moved away from him. "How about I make some snacks and we can talk and get to know each other. That's the plan, right? To get to know each other." She asked.

He nodded his head so, she went into the kitchen to get some chin chin and juice. She came back some minutes later and they both sat down to enjoy their time.

"So, tell me anything about you," Christopher said to Rose.

"Haha, anything?" She asked. He nodded his head and she said, "my name is Rose Sanders." She said.

"Am not talking about that. I know what your name is. I mean something I don't know." He said after laughing.

"Well, you asked for anything and I told you something. Next time, be specific." She said.

"Yes madam. Let me tell you something you need to know if we are to go anywhere with each other." He said.

"What is it?" She asked because the way he said it made her curious.

"When I came back from the states, my dad had already promised his friend that I would marry his daughter. I refused but, it didn't stop my dad and her from assuming I am in a relationship with her. I just want you to know that, if you ever hear a thing about me and her, just know that there is nothing between us." He said.

"Oh. What's her name?" She asked him.

"Cindy Coker. That's her name." He answered.

"Oh, I read about your relationship with her."

"You did? Oh. Well, I have never had anything with her and I will not. I spent the last three years getting myself settled and looking for you. I have managed to grow my business and I have taken over my dad's so, I have my own power now. Now that I have found you, I would not let you out of my life if you let me. I know we planned to just use this time to know each other but, I can't help myself. I have loved you for so long and now, I want you and my daughter with me. Look Rose," he stood up and sat beside her. "I love you. We can spend the whole time of our life getting to know each other but, we can't know it all. Just give me a chance to come into your life as not just your baby's father but, as someone important to you as well." He said.

"I appreciate your honesty but, am confused. I don't know what I want right now. I... I don't know." She said.

"It's ok. I know you are confused but you can't deny that you feel something for me. You know what?"

"What?" She asked looking at him.

"Let's Drop that topic. Let's talk about other things. Why didn't you come to me when you discovered you were pregnant?" Christopher asked.

"I... I was scared." She answered.

"After giving birth why didn't you come?" He asked.

"I told you already. I was scared. When I found out I was pregnant, I was lost. My mom abandoned me before I could get to know her. I didn't want you to take my child away from me. Am sorry." She said and apologized.

"Do you want to know something?" He asked to which she nodded her head and he continued, "I also never got to meet my mom. She died after my birth and my dad sent me to the states with a nanny even before I could walk. I tried coming home but he wouldn't allow it. I had to wait till I made my own network before coming back. I grew up with my nanny so, I would never separate you from your child. I know what it feels like to grow without a mother or parental love and I don't want my child to ever experience that kind of thing." He said.

Rose looked at him for a while and didn't say a thing. It's not that she didn't know what to say but, she was feeling confused. She couldn't sort out what she was feeling.
