Chapter Thirty Two

They got to Christopher's house after almost and an hour. The gateman allowed them to enter without any problem because coincidentally, Christopher had told the gateman that if his father should come, he should let him enter. The driver parked the car and Mr. Allen and Cindy both got out of the car. They walked to the front door and were about to knock on it when it was opened.

"Dad?" Christopher called to his dad. "what are you doing here at this time of the night?"

"Good evening sir," Uzo was forgotten for a while greeted, and used that opportunity to walk back to where Rose was standing. "This is the real trouble.." He whispered to Rose who just nodded her head without saying a thing. She was about to walk away but, Christopher saw her and shook his head at her which made her stand where she was.

"What kind of question is that? Can't I come to my son's house?" Mr. Allen asked angrily and walked into the house. Cindy who was behind him smiled and walked in behind him.

"You are welcome to my house but that thing that came with you can stay outside," Christopher said and pointed at Cindy.

"Did...did... Did you hear what he just called me?" Cindy stuttered.

"Cindy is not a thing. She is your future wife and we are here to discuss your wedding. So you better behave yourself follow me so that we can sit and talk." Mr. Allen said and walked to the sitting room to take a seat.

He was about to take a seat when Christopher said, "don't sit there, let me show you where I discuss important things, and besides, that's someone's seat." He said and led them to a smaller sitting room.

While they were being led away, Mr. Allen said, "only family, please. Your friends can wait for us while we discuss."

"Who are my friends?" Christopher asked his father.

"Them of course!" Mr. Allen answered and gestured at Uzo and Rose who were walking with them.

"Them?" Christopher asked his father. Mr. Allen nodded his head and Christopher continued. "The only outsider here is that rotten fish with you. This whole place stinks because of her. Please, dad, tell your companion to wait outside while we discuss."

Cindy felt like slapping Rose when she heard Christopher call her a rotten fish. "I won't stand here and have you insult me. I am your family and they are the outsiders."

"Even your breath stinks. How do you stand her dad?" Christopher asked his father after Cindy finished talking.

Rose didn't want to make her presence too obvious but, Uzo started laughing immediately Christopher said what he said, Cindy glared at him and opened her mouth to say something else but was stopped by Mr. Allen. "That's enough!!" He said to Cindy. "Please son, tell your friends to wait while we discuss. I don't have all night." Mr. Allen said as he entered the smaller sitting room.

"It'll be better if you just say what you came here for because these people are my family and the only outsider here is your companion," Christopher answered his father.

"Stop calling Cindy an outsider. She is your future wife so, you have to respect her. By the way, why did you embarrass her when she came here earlier?" Mr. Allen who was getting tired of repeating the same thing over and over again said just to get it over with.

"Who did I embarrass?" Christopher asked his father

"Cindy. She came to me and complained about how you and your friends treated her when she came here earlier to say hi to you who is her fiancee." Mr. Allen explained. He had decided to ignore Rose's presence and he has been acting as if he hadn't seen her since he walked In. Truth be told, when the door was opened, the first person he saw was the lady standing behind his son and friend.

"Who is who's fiancee?" Christopher asked. "You didn't surprise me but, you disappointed me." He said to Cindy. "How could you run to my dad and forget to give him the most important news?" Christopher asked Cindy.

"What news do you expect her to give to me?" Mr. Allen asked.

"Well, since she forgot to go tell you. This lady here," he said and stood beside Rose. "Is my wife. Isn't she beautiful?" Christopher introduced Rose and asked his father.

"She is very beautiful bro!," Uzo finally said since they started talking.

"Good evening sir," Rose greeted Mr. Allen.

Mr. Allen chuckled and said, "how much did he pay you? I know this is all an act so, my dear. I will pay you double of what he paid you so that you can get out of here." Mr. Allen said.

Christopher was about to answer but, Rose stopped him and said, "you'll pay me double of what Christopher paid me?" She asked Mr. Allen.

"Yes. I'll even pay you times three. Just tell me how much he paid and I will send triple of that amount right now so that, you can leave here. We have a wedding to plan." Mr. Allen said confidently seeing that, Rose was following up with what he was saying.

"Ok. That's a great deal. He paid me two million naira." Rose said and moved two steps away from Christopher. Uzo was surprised by what was going on. He bought into the act that Rose was displaying and looked at Christopher with questions running through his mind. Christopher was enjoying the show. He could already understand what Rose was getting as so, he kept quiet and watched on.

"Great!! That's great!! I will give you seven million instead of six and nobody must hear of this. After sending you the money, you leave and never come back. Is that clear?" Mr. Allen asked. Cindy saw this development and started smiling happily. She finally felt relaxed think that, Christopher was still hers.

"Crystal Clear sir!" Rose answered. "Are you ready to make the transfer now?" She asked Mr. Allen.

"Yes. Give me your account number. Let me make it right now!" Mr. Allen said and took out his phone from his pocket to make the transfer. "Call your account number." He said to Rose. Rose called out her account number and after a few minutes, he said. "Done. I have sent it. I sent you seven million."

"So fast? Rich people are so wasteful." Rose said. She turned to Christopher and said, "please, can you help me with my phone? I need to make sure he sent the money. You know one can't really be sure with people who like to think money is everything." She said.

"No problem," Christopher said and walked away to help her bring her phone.

"She looks so pretentious. Are you sure she would leave and not come back?" Cindy Whispered to Mr. Allen.

"She will. I told you this was all a prank but, you didn't believe me. Have you seen it now?" Mr. Allen also whispered to her.

"Forgive me for acting that way dad, I was just scared. You know I love your son and I don't want to lose him. Don't be angry ok?" She whispered and smiled at Mr. Allen. When she lifted her head she caught Rose looking at her. "You... So, you are just someone I could have given money and you would have left my man alone. You are so shameless!!" She said to Rose.

"Please, try not to talk. Your smell is already over the whole room and now that you are talking, I can't even breathe." Rose said and even covered her nose to make her point clearer.

"Here is your phone!" Christopher said as he came back and handed the phone to Rose.

Rose checked her phone and saw that she had been credited. She smiled brightly and said, "wow!! Thank you so much for this. I have seen the money. You really are a generous man." Rose said.

"Well, since I have given you what we agreed on, why don't you just go. We have something important to discuss here and it's already very late as you can see." Mr. Allen said.

"That's true, I need to go to bed. Good night father inlaw!! Thank you for the gift." Rose said and started walking away.

"What did you just call me?" Mr. Allen inquired. "I have paid you what I promised so, I believe you should be saying goodbye and not a good night. Besides I am not your father inlaw." Mr. Allen said.

"Oh, you are my father in law and I am going to my room to sleep just like you advised," Rose answered and turned to look at them.

"What's wrong with this girl? You asked for money and we paid you. Now, get out of this house right now!!" Cindy stood up and shouted.

"Shhh... Don't make so much noise. My daughter is sleeping upstairs and I wouldn't want her to be awakened by your rants." Rose said to Cindy. She looked at Mr. Allen who was looking at her with confusion and said, "what? Why are you looking at me like that? You wanted to give me money and I didn't have the heart to say no. Besides as your daughter-in-law, I can accept your kind gestures. Right?" She asked.

"My wife is right dad. You offered her money and she took it. It's not her fault ok?" Christopher who was smiling at what Rose had done said.

"Are you two being serious right now?" Mr. Allen asked them.

"I warned you but you didn't listen. This is Rose, my wife and our daughter who happens to be your granddaughter is asleep upstairs." Christopher said to his father.

"No... No... This can't be happening. She just said you paid her two million." Cindy said shaking her head. She liked at Rose and said, "do you want more money? We can give you more if that's what you want. Just name your price and leave this place with that ugly thing you call a child!!"

"Don't you ever open that smelling mouth of yours and call my child an ugly thing again. At least she did not bleach her skin." Christopher cautioned Cindy then added, "rotten fish!"

Uzo could have applauded Christopher and Rose but, he didn't want to interfere so, he tried as much as possible not to say a word. "Stop calling me that!! It's that baboon beside you that is the rotten fish. She just robbed your dad and you are still standing beside her. What kind of a son are you?" Cindy barked at Christopher.

"Dad, I warned you not to give false hope to her but, you wouldn't listen. You even went as far as announcing a non-existent engagement. This is all on you dad. This is my wife and there is nothing anyone can do about it. She is not just my wife but, the mother of my child. You have a granddaughter dad. She is sleeping but, if you want to meet her I can take you to her room." Christopher said to his father who had suddenly gone quiet.

"Why did you say he paid you?" Mr. Allen asked Rose. "You said he paid you money to be here and you even allowed me to give you more. Why?" He asked.

"You offered it to me, sir!" Rose started. "You can't solve problems just by offering money. Because you have the money doesn't mean the world revolves around it. I am married to your son and I hope we get along." Rose said.

"You can't be married to him. He is my FIANCEE and we will get married!!" Cindy shouted.

"How many times do you want me to tell you to stop shouting so loud. If you want to display your madness, take it elsewhere. He is your fiancee but he is my husband so, when you get married to him, come back and then we will talk. For now, just keep quiet and stop displaying your madness!" Rose said. Her tone wasn't loud but one could hear the anger in it.

Cindy was about to answer but, Mr. Allen stood up and pulled her out.
