CHAPTER 6

The next day,as I opened the door, the sight before me was heart-wrenching.

But because I've decided in my heart to let Ethan go, the pain was not as overbearing as it used to be.

Thank God!It seems I've learned how to let go. It wasn't difficult, as I stopped caring, my body learned to follow what my heart wanted.

I saw Ethan in the kitchen, stirring at something he was cooking on the stove, and Luna was beside him, chatting away. When she saw me come in, she leaned in on Ethan's shoulder and laughed coquettisly, "Brother Ethan, are you making for sister Eva too?."

"No silly girl, the only person I will ever cook for is you."

"Hehe, hehe."she laughed before saying, "Ah sister Eva is here. sister, I hope you don't mind brother Ethan is cooking for me."

As soon as Ethan heard her words, he turned away from what he was stirring and looked at me, his face pale as he said, "Eva, when did you get here?."

"I just got in." I replied, watching to see the act he was going to put on for me and true to form. He didn't disappoint as he said ,"Eva, don't misunderstand," the doctor said, Luna is not eating well and we need to take proper care of her if we want her to recover quickly. "

"We........? I asked."Ahh, now you are her family. that makes sense. "

"Eva, what are you implying?

"Don't misunderstand Ethan, " I threw his word back at him, "You've known Luna all your life, you grew up together , it's natural you see her as part of your family after all you said she is your sister." I said, playing along with him.

Ethan physically relaxed as he said, "It's good you understand, in future, stop causing trouble for Luna, okay?."

"Okay." I said , my whole body feeling disgusted.

"Good, Eva, you're becoming obedient . Now go upstairs and change and come down to join us for a meal."

"No thanks , I will pass." I said, remembering the last time I ate a meal with them.

" What do you mean Eva, are you refusing to eat with us?," He pulsed as if remembering something, " Eva, is it because of what I said earlier? , I was just....."

I cut him off, "Ethan , I don't know what you said earlier, I just came back to get some change of clothes, and I'm going back to the hospital. " I said, climbing the stairs to the bedroom.

When I came downstairs , Luna was feeding Ethan from her plate, and they were acting like a real couple . I could tell this was not their first meal together because of the intimacy between them.

When Ethan saw me come down, he jumped up and distanced himself from Luna, I pretended not to notice as I made to walk past them

It was then Ethan came to his senses as he asked in a quiet voice, as if afraid of making me angry, " Eva, where are you going with your suitcase?."

" I'm having a seminar in another city,so I'm going to the airport now to meet the others." I said.

"And you didn't think I have the right to know your movements as your boyfriend?."

"Ethan, you don't pick up my calls, open your phone, and check how many times I called you today. I even sent you a message, but you never replied or called me back."

"I was busy at the company, I guess I didn't see your calls. "

"It's okay, Ethan ,I'm not blaming you." I told him. Thinking in my mind, " If it were Luna, you won't miss her calls.."

"When we you be back?, I will pick you up from the airport." Ethan said, relaxing visibly .

I looked at him, remembering the last time he said that to me. I think he remembered it, too, because he had the sense to look ashamed. "Don't worry, Ethan , my friends will bring me back. Enjoy your time with your good sister, Luna. I said, leaving the two of them behind in the house.

As I left the house, Ethan, on the other hand, starts to wonder at the sudden shift in my attitude towards him , I no long argue with him over Luna, even when I see them in a compromising situation, I don't question him like before, like I'm distancing myself from him, breaking off with him little by little, his heart starts pounding and he felt sweat all over,suddenly feeling like his heart is leaving his body.

with Luna's ,"Brother Ethan, are you alright?." , he snapped out of it as he thought, "Eva can never leave me after seven years of staying together, she has invested so much in our relationship, invested so much in me, how can she afford to let me go?. I must be imagining things. He decided to wave it off as he concentrated on Luna.

"Yes, Luna, I am fine, why?."

"For a moment there, you seemed off. Are you thinking of Sister Eva?. Don't worry, she will be back soon. Maybe she went for a weekend gateway with someone .Luna said, planting doubts in Ethan's mind.
