Skai’s POV

Taking a last look at my apartment, I dragged my bags and walked towards the entrance. My luggage would be checked; I dropped my essentials at the usual spot. I had a gun there; mine wouldn't be useful either way. I stuffed a journal into the small space of my bag.

An SUV was already outside. Giovanni and his men knew my apartment; I would have preferred if it was only Matteo.

They could break in anytime, very unpredictable set of people. I made sure to keep them under the floorboards, somewhere secretive. No one could imagine there was something in there.

Falling apart was no longer an option. The world around me was spinning out of control, and the only thing I could do was decide how to deal with it.

Imagining life in the Auder's mansion, I'd get used to it with time. My life is being controlled without my consent. Tackling Giovanni is like a civilian fighting a president. A mafia president. He has numerous people underneath his feet .
