Calhoun enjoyed every bit of her emotions. He placed the food on the side table.

"Have your meal when your appetite returns." He said.

How did he know that her appetite had left in the first place?

"I would have helped you while you ate your food, but your pride is beyond me." He said.

Maryanne glared at him. "Why should I allow you into my closet?"

"We are going to be married anytime soon, Maryanne. The least you can do is to accept me, and for your good."

Maryanne scowled. "I could have rejected your proposal."

Calhoun laughed. "You think you could have. It was your father who suggested I proposed to you at the banquet. He invited me."

"He pleaded with me before I came. And honestly, when I saw you I believed you were my mate."

"Why would my father beg you?" Maryanne deadpanned.

"Because I am not this jovial with everyone else. I don't want to scare you off and that is why I have come to you with a smiling face."
