Nine

*The next morning*

The day was bright, the sun shone brightly welcoming the people of Red Claw's pack to a new day.

Alpha Maxwell has a meeting that was earlier scheduled for today with the pack Elders.

He stood in front of the mirror of the living room, holding two Royal suits, not knowing the one he should choose.

"This will go with your eye color," Xenia said and appeared from the mirror.

Maxwell smiled, he loved that she made the choices for him.

"Didn't know you woke up..good morning." He greeted.

"Good morning, Alpha," Xenia replied, stretching her body and rubbing her eyes.

"How are you feeling?" Maxwell asked.

"I'm much better and stronger. Yes, I gotta be strong, the sword of power ain't something to play with." Xenia laughed.

Maxwell was lost in her laughter as this was the first time she laughed at him.

His lips curved into a smile and he was staring at her without blinking.

Xenia got off the bed.

"Alpha Maxwell!" She called but he didn't respond.

"Alpha!" She snapped a finger at him and he flinched.

"Um, sorry, I was thinking about something else," Maxwell replied.

"It's fine. Let me dress you up." Xenia said.

He widened his eyes.

"You will? Dress me up?" He stammered a bit.

"You don't like it?" Xenia asked.

"No, of course, yes. I love it." Maxwell loudly said nervously.

Xenia wore the gold color suit on him and adjusted it carefully.

She tied the robe and he looked good.

"All done," Xenia said.

"Are you going somewhere?" She asked.

"Yes, I have a meeting with the pack Elders and I will have to meet them at their palace. Plus business meetings with the neighborhood pack, today will be a busy day." Alpha Maxwell exclaimed as Xenia wore his watch for him.

"Indeed." She replied and sat on a chair.

"Thank you for dressing me up. Why don't you go have your bath and we will have breakfast?" Maxwell asked.

"Sure," Xenia answered and headed to the bathroom.

She paused and looked back and Maxwell was smiling at her.

She entered the bathroom washed her face, brushed her teeth, and then a cool bath that made her feel relaxed.

After having her bath, she returned to the living room, and the Alpha was gone.

She felt bad, she thought they were going to have breakfast together.

Not that she was growing feelings for him but she enjoyed his presence.

Roselyn came inside the room after knocking.

"Good morning, my Luna." Roselyn greeted.

"Good morning, Roselyn." Xenia returned the greetings with a smile before grabbing a comb to brush her hair.

"What are you doing, Your Highness, please give it to me, and I will do it for you," Roselyn said, freaking out as if her head will be cut off if Xenia combs it herself.

"Roselyn, no. Let me do it, what's the use of my hands if I can't use them anymore? You don't allow me to do anything in this palace, at all." Xenia complained.

"The Alpha doesn't want you to do anything of stress, that's why I'm here to help you. I'm your maid, my Luna." Roselyn exclaimed.

Xenia placed the comb on the table and looked up at Roselyn, who was rubbing her hands anxiously.

"A maid? Is that what you see yourself as to me?" Xenia questioned.

Roselyn smiled cutely."

"That's what I am to you," Roselyn answered.

"You are wrong. I don't see you as a maid but rather, as a friend Alpha Maxwell gave to me so I won't be bored and we will have so much fun together, if you keep on with the respect treatment, I will be suffocated by it." Xenia retorted.

"So, am your friend now?" Roselyn asked.

"Unless you don't want to be one," Xenia answered.

Roselyn laughed.

"Who wouldn't want that? Anyways, since we are friends now, how about I do your makeup and make your hair part of our friendship token?" Roselyn asked.

"I love the sound of that," Xenia answered.

"Oh, I almost forgot. The Alpha said I should get you ready, you both will be having breakfast at the Royal dining room." Roselyn announced.

Xenia arched her brows, leaning on the chair.

"Royal dining room?" She mumbled.

"Yes." Roselyn smiled.

"And...we are done," Roselyn said as she applied the last lip gloss on Xenia's lips.

"Aww, is this me? I look so gorgeous." Xenia exclaimed, looking through the mirror, a reflection of herself.

"Stop being sarcastic, Luna. You were beautiful even without makeup. Trust me, if I had your beauty, everyone would have to pay before seeing my face." Roselyn muttered, making Xenia laugh.

What even made her laugh was the serious expression she had on.

"Okay, okay, let's not leave the Alpha waiting. Let's go." Xenia said and Roselyn took the lead, taking her to the Royal dining.

*The dining room*

Alpha Maxwell patiently waited for Xenia, even though it was taking forever and his beta was already sending him a reminder because he was late.

He decided to wait even if it meant canceling the meeting and scheduling it for another day.

As he waited, Xenia walked into the dining room, looking extremely beautiful.

Her hair was made in a clean bun and her face complimented the makeup.

He felt like he had hit the jackpot by getting Xenia as his Mate.

He got off from the chair and immediately went to welcome her.

He took her hands and pulled a chair for her.

Xenia was mesmerized by how the food was arranged, all looking mouthwatering.

"I almost thought you wouldn't make it. I'm glad I waited to see the beautiful face of my Luna." Alpha Maxwell said blushing.

"Thank you, your highness. I'm sorry for not arriving early." Xenia replied.

"For this beautiful, I will wait till I'm I'm old just to see you," Maxwell responded, and Xenia felt shy as she glanced at the ground.

The maid served them food and they began eating.

"You like it?" Maxwell asked, using a knife to cut a steak.

"It's good. I love it." Xenia answered.

"I'm glad, and for your response, the chef that cooked this will surely get a gift for making my Luna happy," Maxwell stated, taking a sip of coffee.

"Thank you," Xenia muttered.

"So, I was thinking, maybe you will want to go out and see how the pack is, instead of staying at the palace and getting bored. Roselyn can come with you." Maxwell said and she was so happy.

"I will love that, thank you so so much, Alpha," Xenia said and started eating up hastily so she could finish quickly.

"Okay, chill, calm down before you choke." Maxwell laughed.

Xenia was done eating and Maxwell had already left for the meeting.

Before he left, he had informed Roselyn about taking Xenia out and also chose his best driver to take them around.

Xenia was welcomed by the bright sun as she stepped outside.

The driver stepped up beside her, standing with his back straight, his chin up, and shoulders broad, and opened the door for her.

She entered and he did the same for Roselyn.

After the both of them had settled down, he zoomed off.

Xenia entirely loved the pack, everywhere was so needed and beautiful with businesses and everyone minding their businesses.

As they approached a particular place, Xenia noticed the place was so crowded, and she wondered what was going on.

"What's going on here? Why are there so many people?" Xenia asked.

"It is called the auctioned market. This is where fathers auctioned their female daughters to other men for money, either as slaves or concubines." Roselyn explained and Xenia's past life came running back to her.
