Chapter 40
I'm panting, huffing, as I glare at the last werewolf who dared to attack me. It scrambles away in fright, and I blow out some steam through my nose. Hayden is fighting an entire group of wolves, and I glance to my left, blood draining from my face when I spot Alina.
The beautiful Fae is stepping onto the field, glimpsing around with a thoughtful expression. When she spots her injured mate, that peaceful elegance she carries everywhere gets replaced with rage. Her eyes widen, and I stop breathing when she finds me.
"What is happening?" Alina asks. Her voice is lashed with inner rage, and her eyes turn cold. "Raven, why are you fighting for the vampire's cause?"
I freeze. "What do you mean?"
