Kaia’s POV

My lungs burned with every step I took. Running this far of a distance is putting a major strain on my stamina. But I have to get to them. I have to warn them and tell them what I saw.

The blood. The desperation in her eyes. The look of hope fleeting away the moment she was pinned to the ground right before he ripped her heart out.

“I love you” she whispered before the life within her was taken away and she was left as an empty corpse in the grass.

I shook my head free of the memory. I can’t let my tears stop me from my new goal ahead. I can grieve later but I need to help Ophelia and Aziel before I have to grieve for more people. Mom would’ve wanted me to. I need to keep going.
