Amaris continued through the woods with Anna and her family following behind. She is not sure how she knew, but she knew exactly where Lyle had taken Gran. There was another underground bunker in the woods. Amaris led them straight to it, but did not know how to change back to her human form to open it. Anna saw that Amaris needed help with the hatch and changed back to her human form to open it. Her father went out and stood guard in the direction that they had just come from while she did this. Anna held the hatch while her mother, who had also changed back to human, jumped down into the tunnel. Anna called out to her Dad who followed them. Amaris went in and then Anna went last to be able to close and lock the hatch. This tunnel entrance was a lot larger than the one that Gran had brought her to earlier and it had tunnels leading out of it. As they began to move down the tunnel they heard rustling and looked into the room where the sound was coming from. It was Lyle and he was takin
The kiss started sweet and gentle. As they continued the kiss the magnetic pull they both had been feeling increased and at the same time Amaris felt like she was over heating. The instant desire to kiss every part of him, to be skin to skin with him was over whelming. Amaris had never even kissed anyone before today, and now it was like her body was in over drive. She knew in her head that she wanted to do this with him someday, but she was not sure if it was now. Just as she was about to break off the kiss, Lyle suddenly pulled back, ending the passion with a few sweet, light kisses on her cheek and nose. “I’m sorry, I am being too forward. I’m sure this seems odd to you. Only a few days ago I was your teacher.” Lyle sat back in his chair and looked at her. “I am sure that you have a million questions. This has been an eventful last few days.” He reached over and took Amaris’ hand in his again not being able to help himself. She did not mind she liked when he touched her. When Amari
Lyle looked at Amaris. She was the most beautiful woman that he had ever laid eyes on. When he had first seen her and realized that she was his mate she had been a young 13 year old girl. Just starting high school, and just discovering herself. Even then she had been kind, smart, witty, and always looking out for others. Anyone who had paid any attention to her would know that this girl would grow to be something special. Lyle looked at her now as a woman. One who was destined to be his mate. After having watched her for four years he knew that she would be able to lead his pack, and lead them fairly and to better things. Lyle began simply with a basic explination. "Mates in wolf packs come in two forms, true mates and chosen mates. Chosen mates are when two people choose to be mates for life. True mates are when you see the other person for the first time and you just know, you get that feeling of electricity and of an overpowering magnetic attraction. That is the most powerful bo
Anna quickly walked forward and put the mugs down on the table. “Sooo??? How is it? Did it hurt?” Anna reaches over and pulls the collar of Amaris’ jump suit aside then the other. “I don’t see the mark. Where is it?” Amaris pulled the jumpsuit top together and pulled the zipper all the way up. Anna sat in the chair that Lyle had just vacated. “There is no mark. We did not mark each other.” Amaris said quickly. She felt embarassment flush her cheeks. Again she felt an expectation that she do as everyone expects and just simply mate with Lyle and move on. Her worry and weariness must have showed on her face. Anna’s hand went to her mouth. “He didn’t reject you did he?” Anna says making to get up and go toward the door. “No I told him that I needed time to think.” Anna stopped in her tracks. “You found your true mate and you told him no that you need time to think? No wonder he wanted to get out of here. You essentially just rejected him without saying the words.” Anna’s look was
Amaris and Anna finished their cocoa and decided to go check on Gran. They went back to the tunnel entrance and found the room that she was resting in. Gran was unconscious and had not yet come to." Amaris gently brushed her hair back from Gran's face and put her hand on her forehead. Amaris did not feel a fever. She next reached down to Gran's wrist and checked her pulse. It felt steady and it comforted Amaris. She stared down at gran and Anna put and arm around her and gave a squeeze. They stood like that for a few minutes. They could hear voices out in the hall. Anna lifted her head off of Amaris' shoulder. "We need to get her looked at. She should be awake by now." Amaris said. Anna looked at her and worry was written all over her face. The girls decidied to see what they were going to do about getting some medical help for Gran, Walking back to the door the door way, the girls saw Lyle along with Anna’s parents talking animatedly out in the hallway. Amaris and Anna ca
The kiss was ended as quickly as it was begun. Anna’s father burst in the room. “Adam and his men are hunting around outside for the entrance. I spread the deer sign around as you said to try and throw them off, but I don’t think it is working. They know we are here. “. He said in an out of breath whisper. He clearly had just come back inside from scouting. Lyle had pushed away from Amaris and was now holding just her arms. “Okay get the stretcher ready and tell them to be ready to move.” Anna’s father turned and left. Lyle walked to the corner of his room and pushed on a section of wall. A large hidden door popped open to reveal a hidden space. Inside were two large backpacks. “I wanted to be ready in case you and I needed to escape quickly. I knew there would be people that would want you for their own purposes. These packs have food, water, a change of clothes, and first aid kits. I don’t have packs ready for the rest of them but we can see what we can find down here for them. Furth
Amaris had no idea where their final destination was. They had been on the water for several hours. The sun was high in the sky by this time. They would simply look like tourists to any on lookers except for the fact that none of them had any safety gear on. No helmets, no life jackets, nothing. They only had their backpacks and their paddles. Lyle seemed to have a destination in mind. He led with Gran and Continued without stopping. Anna and Amaris both had paddles, but since the river at this time of year was low and therefore fairly tame they did not have too much to do. There had not been much for rain in a while. Finally they came to a wide bend in the river and a huge sand bar in the center of the curve. It appeared that in times of heavy rain or in the spring thaw this was under water but the rest of the time it looked like it was a favorite play ground for the local otters. There were hundreds of foot prints up and down the sand.Lyle pulled his kayak off here onto the sand and
The rain started in heavy and kept falling. At first it was a pleasant sound to sleep to, but the relentless pounding, in the end, woke everyone. After a while their convenient sand bar started to get wet. As the water rose it started coming up through the floor of the tent. Amaris began feeling cold and within moments realized that she was getting wet. "The tent is getting wet on the inside too." Amaris said sitting up suddenly. Amaris and Lyle scrambled up as they heard the cries of surprise from the others in the other tent. Looking around the tent they could see that the water was starting to rise and they soon realized that they too were starting to flood. They could no longer stay here. Lyle grabbed the two backpacks that were at their feet and handed one to Amaris. “Fit everything that you can in these. If you come across anything that is waterproof that we could put over Gran, hold it aside. We will need it to move her out of here.” Amaris grabbed everything she could we
