You're leading cheer practice today, Madison is still co captain. She approaches you when practice is over.
"Hey, my parents are having a stupid business social, and I wondered if you wanted to go, to make it more bearable for me." Madison smiles.
"Sure, when is it." You reply enthusiastically.
"This weekend, I'll text you the deets. I wanna go to lunch with you today." Madison beams at you.
"Sure, let me go change, and I'll meet you in the cafeteria." Madison gives you a little wave, and you head off to your dorm room.
You decide to swing by the showers first. They are shared with the other girls on your floor, you head into the showers and see Brianna and Taylor gossiping in there. You manage to slip past them into a cubicle unnoticed.
"I heard madison is pregnant with that freaks brothers, baby." Taylor whispers.
"For real? I heard she's dating Nate." brianna remarks.
"Who Madison?" Taylor asks.
"No, Olivia." Brianna replies.
"She needs to watch her back." Taylor snaps.
"I thought you and Zack were dating." Brianna questions.
"We are, but I only did that to piss Olivia off since she was so in love with him, Nate. I've been in love with since third grade." Taylor explains.
"Don't you think that's a little unfair on Zack?" Brianna asks.
"I don't care." Taylor cackles.
You let out a cough, Taylor begins to panic because she knows you've heard everything.
"Shoot! She was listening." Taylor exclaims.
You step out of the shower with a towel wrapped around you to feel someone tug on your hair.
"You dare tell anyone what you heard, and I'll do worse than this." Taylor warns, she's so close to you that you can smell her tacky perfume.
"You don't scare me." You laugh in her face.
Taylor smacks you and walks away. You head up to your dorm, Ella, Kain, and Zack are hanging out in there.
"Oh, Zack." You remark, shocked.
"We thought you two should talk it's been weird for both of us having to plan when we hang out with each of you so you don't have to see each other." Ella explains.
"I didn't ask you to plan around me." You snap.
"I know, but I felt it was necessary." Ella explains.
"I think I'll just change in the beta house. I should have clothes over there." You remark.
"You can wear my shirt to walk over in if you want to." Zack offers.
"Thanks, I'm good, I'll just quickly grab some clothes just in case." You scoop up some clothes and call Nate as you're leaving.
"Are you in your room?" You ask.
"I didn't realise it was one of those phone calls." His voice smug.
"Ugh, mind out of the gutter. It's not, I need to change in your dorm." You start walking up the hallway towards the exit of the college.
"I'll come up to your dorm to walk you over." Nate remarks.
"Sure. I'm in the hall." The line goes dead, and within minutes, Nate comes sprinting down the hall.
"Why can't you change in your dorm?" Nate asks.
"Ella and Kain have Zack over they want us to talk to work things out." You explain.
"And you don't want to?" Nate questions.
"Not yet, I'm not ready to forgive him." You explain.
"Okay, let's go." Nate wraps you in his varsity jacket and walks you back to Beta house.
"I'll wait in the hall you go change." Nate smiles at you.
You hurry to change, not wanting to make Nate wait outside of his own room, you call Nate in. "You can come in now."
Nate enters the room. "If Zack gets too much, i can deal with him for you." He grins.
"No, it's okay, I'm gonna have to talk to him at some point." You sigh.
"On a more positive note, Madison is having a social, wanna be my date?" He beams.
"I was invited but sure." You laugh.
"Great, I'll be a gentleman, i promise." He smiles at you his smile so wide he'd give the Cheshire cat a run for his money.
"You're always a gentleman." You laugh at him.
Nate shrugs in response and places a kiss on your cheek he says goodbye, and you head to meet Madison for lunch. You enter the cafeteria after bustling through the busy school hallways, and she's sitting at your usual table, but she looks worried.
"Sorry I took so long." You give her an apologetic smile.
"It's okay." She's expressionless.
"So what's the dress code for the social?" You ask intrigued.
"Kind of casual prom, I think, it's just a business thing, but I represent the family." Madison explains.
"How do your parents feel about the pregnancy?" You ask.
"My dad was furious he said I'm throwing my life away." Madison looks at you with sadness in her eyes.
"I'm sorry that sucks." You give her a short hug.
"Anyway, enough about me, how's things with you and Nate?" She grins at you.
"Meaning?" You laugh at Madison.
"Come on, are you guys dating? Spill the team." Madison eagerly waits for your response.
"We are sort of dating," you explain.
"Sort of?" Madisons confused.
"Well, we hang out every day. we go everywhere together. We've shared a bed, but not in that way, we just cuddled." You smile at the thoughts.
"Well, I'm happy as long as you're happy." Madison reassures you.
"Just please don't tell Sam." You beg her.
"You know he's gonna find out either way, liv." She smiles softly.
"I know, but I'd rather he find out from me." You know he'd be less angry if it comes from you.
"Sure thing." Madison agrees to not tell Sam.
As if he knew he knew you were talking about him, Nate appeared. Taylor is hanging off his arm, glaring at you.
"Hey you two, Taylor wanted to eat with me today, and I always eat with Olivia, so I wanted to see if she's cool with Taylor joining us." Nate, looks to you.
"Sure." You respond bluntly.
"Thanks." Nate can tell something is off.
Taylor smirks at you and sits beside Nate. She's watching your every move.
"You sure you're okay?" Nate looks at you with concern in his eyes.
"Yup, great." You dismiss his question.
To make lunch worse, you spot Ella, Kain, and Zack approaching you.
"You can forgive Taylor but not Zack?" Ella snaps as she looks between you and Taylor.
"Can we not do this right now?" You ask her, hoping she will drop it.
"No. We are doing this right now because I've tried to be there for both of you, making sure you don't see each other, and here you are having lunch with Taylor!" Ella raises her voice.
"I invited Taylor." Nate interjects.
"Of course you're defending her." Zack interrupts.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Nate asks, confused.
"How long have you two been seeing each other?" Zack asks.
"Bro, we aren't dating, but that's not your business either way." Nate defends the two of you.
Zack looks to Taylor as she clings onto Nate.
"One of my girlfriends wasn't enough for you now you're trying to get with Taylor." Zack snaps at Nate.
"Zack, that's enough." You decide to intervene.
"I have a right to be angry." Zack glares at you.
"No, you don't because you have it completely wrong." You try to diffuse the situation.
"Explain it to me then." Zack gives you a pleading loo. He just wants an explanation.
"Nate and I are just friends, Nate invited Taylor to lunch." You explain calmly.
"Why did he invite her?" Zack questions.
"She was practically hanging off him." You explain.
"Oh." There's a sadness in Zacks eyes.
"I'm sorry to both of you." Zack composes himself.
"It's cool, man." Nate nods at him.
After lunch, you head to classes. They go pretty well. When classes are over, you head to your dorm.
"Hey, you seemed upset at lunch, wanna talk about it?" Ella asks.
"Thanks, but I'm good." You remark, Ella, give a nod to knowledge of your choice. You get changed ready for madisons social. You chose a long maroon dress that's V neck with diamonds on the V part.
You head to meet Nate for the social, you meet him outside of the Beta house.
"Ready?" He beams at you, taking your outfit in.
"Yep, let's go." You reply.
Nate helps you into his truck. You see Zack leaving the frat with Taylor. She smirks at you before climbing into Zacks car. You're driving through town in the truck. You decide now would be a good time to talk to Nate.
"Zack and Taylor aren't going, are they?" You hope not.
"Yes, but if you stick with me, you'll be fine." Nate places a hand on your knee for reassurance.
"Thanks." You breathe a sigh of relief.
After a little drive longer, you arrive at Madisons house as you enter the house, which is filled with people. Some you already know others are clearly business people. Madison approaches you.
"Nate, Olivia, glad you both could make it." She hugs you both.
"We wouldn't miss it for the world." You beam at her.
"You look beautiful." Madison smiles at you.
"As do you." You return the compliment.
"Sam's mingling, and last I saw, he was chatting to Zack if you want to catch up with him." She explains as she scans the room for Sam.
"Thanks, I'll see if I can find him." Madison hugs you and heads off.
You begin walking around looking for Sam, but Sam finds you instead. He approaches you, his fists clenched.
"What's her doing here?" Sam's voice stern.
"Madison invited him." You dismiss him.
"But why are you with him?" Sam waits for an answer.
"He's my friend." You remark bluntly. Sam doesn't respond he pulls you aside.
"I warned you what would happen if you didn't stay away from him." His voice firmly but a whisper.
"What are you gonna do? kill him like you killed his dad?" You whisper angry.
"No, I told you to stay away from him." Sam looks at you stunned by your previous comment.
"I'm not a child." You remind him.
"Then stop acting like one." Sam's words cut into you.
"I think you need to look in the mirror." You snap back.
"You have a choice to make by tonight, after the party. Me or Nate, your brother or your lover." Sam's voice firm, he's serious.
"Fine." You reply just as firm. You head to rejoin Nate with Sam watching your every move.
"Is everything okay?" Nate notices you look a little on edge.
"Not really. Sam was warning me to keep away again." You sigh.
"What did you say?" Nate looks surprised.
"I told him I'm not a child." You explain.
"How did he take that?" Nate asks, curious.
"He told me to choose you or him." You blurt.
"Oh, and do you know what you're going to do?" Nate looks worried.
"I think so." You give him a reassuring smile.
"I'll be there for you no matter what. How about we dance? To distract you?" Nate offers you his hand.
You take his hand in acceptance, and you and Nate begin dancing together. You dance for that long the party begins to die down, as you're about to head out Sam stops you.
"I want your decision." He demands.
"I've decided to choose Nate." You reply.
"He can't protect you." Sam snarls.
"Oh, like you can, you left me for almost dead in a car crash!" You snap.
"We talked about that." Sam's face riddled with guilt and anger.
"And i still haven't forgiven you. Nate wouldn't put me in danger." You explain.
"You're doing that yourself by choosing him." Sam's words pierce into you.
"I don't care. Now if you excuse me." You turn and walk away from Sam. You catch up with Nate.
"Who did you choose?" Nate looks worried.
"I thought you were a straight A student. Did you not figure it out?" You laugh at him.
"Maybe, but I wanna hear you say it." He smirks at you.
"I chose you." You roll your eyes at him.
"That's my girl. Should we get going to the hospital?" Nate grins at you.
"Please, this night is already exhausting." You slump into the passenger seat of his truck.
You rush into your mom's room.
"Mom?" Your voice breaks a little.
"Sweetie, you look beautiful." She beams with love in her eyes.
"Thanks. The doctor called. Are you getting sicker?" You give her a look filled with heartbreak.
"Yes, but don't worry about me. You just enjoy your life." She replies as she smiles sweetly at you.
"I will, but i still want you here." You sob a little.
"We knew it might come to this." Your mom explains.
"I just wish you could see me get married." You feel more tears building.
"I'll be watching." She smiles sweetly at you.
"Are you and Nate together now?" She asks to break the moment of sad silence.
"Oh-erm." You're not sure what to reply since you and Nate haven't actually defined the relationship.
"Yep." Nate interjects.
"What?" You gasp.
"You want that right, Mrs. Yates?" Nate looks at your mom.
"If that's what you both want and you're both happy, then yes." She smiles.
"We should talk later." You whisper in Nates ear.
You head back to campus and go back to your dorm after the visit to your mom. You head inside, Nate follows you up. You enter the dorm, Ella isn't there.
"Ella must be with Kain now." You remark.
"Great, then we can talk." Nate beams at you.
"When you said to my mom before that we are together, is that really what you want?" You're nervous waiting for his reply.
"I would like that, yes." Nate reassures you.
"Hmm, well, we can see how it goes." You reply, you're still a little concerned about Taylors threats.
"Like a trial relationship?" Nate asks.
"Yeah, i don't want to ruin our friendship if it messes up." You smile sweetly at him.
"I doubt it will mess up." Nate remarks confident.
"We shall see. I'm gonna change really quickly." You dash off into your bathroom to change. You return to Nate perched on your bed.
"What do we tell people if they ask if we are dating?" You want to make sure you're both on the same page.
"We tell them we are." Nate remarks.
"You realise how many girls this will annoy?" You try to make him realise.
"If you get any trouble, they have me to answer to." Nate explains.
"That's sweet." Nate edges closer to you. The air between the two of you is thicker than before.
You take a breath and press a kiss to his lips. You feel his lips curl into a grin. He kisses you more passionately.
"I wasn't expecting that." Nate grins.
"Sorry, was it too forward?" You ask concerned.
"No, i like it." Nate smirks.
You give him another kiss. This one's a little shorter than the first, and you climb into bed. Nate is still sitting on your bed.
"I guess you're my trial girlfriend now." He grins happily.
"Yep, I guess so." You laugh a little.
"Then I promise to be the best trial boyfriend you've ever had." He smiles sweetly.
"The bar isn't set that high." You both laugh, Nate stands up, he kisses your head and cups your cheek.
"I'll pick you up at 8 for breakfast." He smiles.
"I can't wait." You reply.
He kisses your head one last time, and you watch him head out of your room. You fall onto your pillow and fall asleep.
You've been back at campus two weeks; Blake's been avoiding you which is super odd since you were close before the holidays. “Is it just me or has Blake been acting strange?” Oscar asked. “I've noticed that too.” You replied, a little concerned. “Weren't you two close before the break?” Nate questioned. “I thought we were, he hasn't spoken to me since we came back.” You sighed, sadly. “So go talk to him, find out what's going on.” Tara encourages you to talk to him. Before you can reply, Zack interrupts. “Don't bother, I can assure you he won't talk, I've tried talking to him, I got nowhere.” “But this is Olivia that will be speaking to him, maybe she will get somewhere.” Tara explained. “I'll text him, see if he wants to go for a coffee, we can talk then.” You remarked. “Good idea.” Tara replied. He reads it but doesn't reply. “I think he's mad at me, he's read it but not replied.” You explained. “It's fine, let him sulk, try to catch him after our practice.” Nate smiled.
You've arrived at Nate's for the holidays; his mom greets you. “Are you two looking forward to the holidays?” she hugs you as you enter the house. “Sort of, it's my first one alone” You sigh a little, remembering Sam and your mom aren’t here for the holidays. “I'm sorry Hunnie, I'll make it as fun as possible.” She hugs you. “Thankyou.” You give her a soft smile. “Why don't you two head upstairs and unpack, I'll work on dinner.” She nodded in the direction of the stairs. You and Nate head upstairs. “So, our first Christmas together as a couple.” Nate beams at you. “You don't have to make small talk, to try and make me feel better.” You smile, softly. “I know but I also know it's hard for you right now.” Nate sighed sadly. “As long as we have each other I'll be okay.” You reassured him. “I wanted to give you a gift early, to lighten the mood a little.” He smiled at you. “Oh erm, I brought yours, do you want one now?” You blush a little, showing him the nicely wrapped gift
You're back in the frat; you find Nate for the long-awaited conversation. “Can we talk? "You asked Nate. “Sure.” He smiled; you grab Nate's hand and pull him out of earshot of the group. “I was wondering if you wanted to get back together, like end the break?” You blurted quickly. “I've been waiting weeks for that question, yes!” He beamed. “I’m glad that’s settled.” You smile sweetly. “Did you manage to figure everything out?” Nate asked, curious. “I'm pretty sure I did, I realised I'm happiest with you.” You smiled at him again. “And I’m happiest when I’m with you.” Nate wraps you in a hug. “Taylor told me about the pool party.” You remarked. “My mom organised it.” Nate replied, sadly. “And she didn’t invite me?” You stare at him in shock. “She doesn’t like you.” Nate replied, quickly. “Oh.” You feel a bit of sadness wash over you. “I'm sure you can find a way to make her love you almost as much as I love you.” Nate smiled, reassuring you. Nate pulls you close, it fee
You arrive back at campus; you rush to the football field to find Nate. He looks worried. Nate spots you and gives you a sweet smile, you wave to him, you head for a seat and watch the rest of practice. He jogs over to you after practice is over, he wraps you in a hug. “I was so worried, what happened, tell me everything.” He looked at you panicked. “Let’s go back to Beta and I’ll tell you.” You remarked. Nate follows you back, he quickly changes and places himself next to you on the bed. “Who's behind the messages?” Nate asked, eagerly. “Ella.” You remarked. “What?” Nate stares at you. “Taylor was blackmailing her.” You continued. “Oh, and has Ella apologised?” Nate asked. “Yeah, it's all good, I'm gonna kill Taylor though.” You added, just at the mention of Taylor's name your blood boils. “So, the messages should stop now?” Nate asked, concerned. “I hope so.” You remarked. “Maybe everything can finally go the way we want it to.” Nate moves closer to you, love fills his ey
You were hanging out with Nate in his room in the Beta house, you had the last two weeks to think about everything and heal a little from the death of your mom and Sam. “How's things been?” Nate asked, carefully, rubbing the bottom of your back. “Okay, if I’m being honest.” You smiled, reassuringly. “Did you figure things out about us yet?” Nate asked, sheepishly. “Not quite, I will soon, it's been a lot to process.” You smile softly at him. “I understand.” Nate replied, a little hint of sadness in his voice. You head into the Livingroom to be greeted by Blake and Oscar; Blake wraps you in a hug. “My favourite person, how’s things?” Blake beamed at you. “They’re good.” You laughed at Blake. Nate is staring daggers at Blake. Blake hasn't noticed, you pull away and sit on the sofa. “So, Oscar, where’s Tara?” You grin at him. “She’s just getting ready.” Oscar blushes a little. “Are you two dating?” You asked. “Yes.” He blushed harder. Tara comes skipping into the Livingroo
It's been two weeks since Sam's death and you and Nate going on a break, you're hanging out with Blake, Zack and Oscar. "So you want to throw a party?" Blake asked, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Yup." You laughed. "And that's why you need us?" Blake questioned. "I need the best party throwers in the house." You smiled, buttering Blake up. "Always, well since you asked so nicely, how can i say no?" Blake smiled at you. "Okay, well, erm, can you get the beer, please?" You asked, sweetly. "Has princess not got ID?" Blake mocks you. "No, you have to be 21, douchebag." You laughed in response. "I'm not 21." Blake replied. "You could pass for it." You smirked. "Really? What are you saying?" Blake gave you a skeptical look. "Calm your ego, I'm saying you look old." You laughed, mocking him. Zack and Oscar laugh, you notice Nate is stood there. "You good man?" Blake turned to Nate and asked. "Yeah, i was hoping we could talk Olivia?" Nate smiled at you. "I'm a little busy bu
