Secrets and Scars

A week on and off crying had passed, and you headed over to the church for your mom's funeral. Nate walks you up to the door, leaving you to stand with Madison.

"Hey." You look at Madison.

"Hey, how are you holding up?" Madison asks.

"Not great, as you can imagine." You reply.

"It's was nice of Nate to agree to it." Madison replied.

"Agree to what?" You ask, confused.

That's when you see Nate and Sam carrying your mom's coffin along with a few of her colleagues, Mac and the werewolf from Macs pack. You sob as you follow them into the church, you listen to the ceremony, and now it's yours and Sam's turn to say a few words.

"Our mother was the best. She cared for us after dad died. Now they can be together forever as planned, and I'll miss her dearly." Sam  walks off sadly. You take the stand.

"Mom, I already miss you, I made her a promise to be happy, but I don't know if that is possible now." You glance at Nate, holding his gaze while you speak.

"No matter how much you love someone, one day they will leave, causing more pain. I love you, mom." You head back to your seat next to Nate. He loops his fingers into yours. After the funeral, you head to your mom's house to find out what's next.

"According to mom's will, we have to split everything. How do we split a house?" Sam asks.

"I don't want to do this." You sigh.

"You think I do." Sam snaps.

"N-no sorry." You stutter.

"I guess we both just live in the house?" Sam suggests.

"No, you and Madison should, you've a baby on the way." You remark.

"What about you?" Sam asks.

"I'll figure something out." You smile.

"She can stay with me and Mac next door, plus my mom is supposed to be coming to stay." Nate explains.

"Over my dead body." Sam snaps.

"Give it a rest, Sam, this whole alpha male. This is getting old, I need to grow up. You can't control me anymore." You declare.

Sam stares at you a moment. "GET OUT NOW!"

"Are you joking?" You ask.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Sam snaps.

"Sam, think about it. She's your sister." Madison remarks.

"Don't involve yourself Madison, you've never liked her." He hisses.

"You're a complete ass." Madison snaps at him.

"Good!" Sam snaps.

"Nate, you and her can leave now!" You and Nate head around to Nates' house.

"When were you going to tell me about yourself, mom?" You ask Nate.

"You never asked." Nate replies.

"I assumed she was dead." You reply.

"Oh, no, she left when I was younger." Nate explains.

You and Nate change and head to the living room. Soon, you're joined by Mac.

"Nate!" Mac remarks.

"Mac!" Nate replies.

"Olivia" macs expression is unreadable.

"Please, she's not like her brother. He just kicked her out." Nate explains.

"Today was your mother's funeral, beautiful send-off for her, by the way." Mac smiles.

"Thank you. I understand why you're angry, Sam needs to pay." You explain.

"Glad we agree on something." Mac grins.

"Thank you for having me." You smile at Mac.

"Nate made a good argument." Mac laughs.

"I bet." You laugh too.

Mac turns to Nate, "I'm collecting your mother from the airport in half an hour. How do you want to introduce Olivia to her?"

"She's my girlfriend, not that it matters to Serena. She hasn't bothered in years." Nate remarks.

"You know why." Mac replies sadly.

"Yeah, well, he's gone now. Maybe i can have a relationship with her." Nate replies.

"Hopefully, I'll see you two later, Olivia. The guest room is up the stairs second on the left. Make yourself at home." Mac explains before disappearing out of the house. You're about to head upstairs when Nate stops you.

"Share with me?" He blushes.

"You'll never have free time." You laugh.

"So, when we get back to campus, I'll ask about you moving into beta." Nate smiles.

"I thought it was all boys." You gasp.

"And their girlfriends." Nate explains.

"You never officially asked me." You laugh.

"Okay. I'm asking you now. Will you be my girlfriend?" Nate grins.

"Yes!" You squeal. Nate hugs you, suddenly you hear the door go, and the clicking of heels.

"Nate, my baby boy." Serena enters the living room.

She walks towards Nate and wraps him in a hug. She looks at you. "And you must be Olivia, Mac has told me a lot about you." She explains.

You give her a smile before holding your hand out for her to shake it.

"Oh please, hon, a hug is fine. Come here." She outstretches her arms to you.

"It's nice to meet you." You smile.

"I had just wished it was under better circumstances." She replies.

"I'm so sorry about your ex-husband." You reply sympathetically.

"It's Nate. i feel bad for it. His father was a piece of crap." She explained.

"Yet you abandoned me." Nate snaps.

"Please, let's talk about this later. Are you going to introduce me then?" She smiles at Nate.

"Olivia, this is my mom, Serena." Nate explains.

"You're not like his usual girls." She smiles.

You, Nate, and Julia head to the living room.

"Why did you come back?" Nate asks.

"Mac told me about yourself, father. I needed to see if you were okay and how you're doing." She explains.

"I'm doing okay." Nate replies.

"And it was your brother that killed him?" She glares at you.

"Y-yes." You mutter.

"Why are you with this girl?" She snaps.

"It's wasn't her fault. It was a pack problem."

"Of course it was. Your father never knew how to not involve himself in matters that didn't concern him." She explains.

"Dad didn't paint you in the best light either." Nate replies, sadly.

The mood seemed to have calmed a little bit.

"I know i left when you were younger but I had to, your father was an alcoholic, he changed when he became a lone parent, i tried contacting your dad to speak to you but he refused, I even stopped by your school once, they wouldn't let me see you, I spotted you a couple of months ago with your girlfriend, I didn't think it was the most appropriate time to reconcile things." His mom explains.

"And you're here to do that today?" Nate asked.

"I hope so." She smiles.

"Sure." Nate smiles back.

"I know sorry won't change my absence in your life but I have decided to come back here and to stay and watch your last few years at college." She explains.

"Sure, i have the rest of the day, but I have to go back tomorrow." Nate smiles.

"Of course." She turns to you, her smile falters.

"Mac told me about your mom. If you need anything, im here for you, too." Her expression filled with sadness.

"Thank you." You smile.

You all order take out and Nate and his mom talk making up for the last time. You return to college the next morning, and you walk with Nate through campus hand in hand to the Beta frat. As you enter, you see Ella and Taylor having a conversation, they haven't noticed you, you slip past them to meet some of Nate's friends. Nate strolls in beaming.

"I got you clearance." He hugged you.

"Clearance for what?" Kain asked.

"To live here." Nate replied his expression firm.

"W-why are you moving out of Ella's?" Kain asked, stuttering.

"It isn't safe for her to walk around alone, and I know Ella's hiding something." Nate replied.

"I don't know what you're suggesting." Kain snapped.

"Good, then you can join her over there." Nate laughs.

Nate throws Ella a wave, and she notices you. She comes skipping over.

"Olivia, how have you been. I haven't seen you in forever?" She asked.

"I'm great, I've been spending most of my time with Nate." You explained.

"How are you after the attack?" She asked.

"Fine." You remark bluntly.

"I'm glad." Ella smiled.

"What were you and Taylor just talking about?" You press for information since they aren't friends.

"Oh-erm taylors throwing a party in her sorority, she was seeing if I wanted to go." Ella explained.

"I hadn't realised you and Taylor were such good friends. I thought you hated her." You smirked.

"No, we've been friends a while." Ella explained.

"If you'll excuse me, I have to go unpack." You remarked.

You slip away from the conversation and head up to Nates room, you jump when two jocks are messing around in there.

"Can I help you?" You gasped.

"Maybe..." one of the boys smirked.

"She's cute." The other added also smirking.

Before you can respond to the two idiots, Nate enters behind you.

"Blake, Oscar, this is my girlfriend Olivia." Nate explained.

"Sorry dude, we were just messing around." Blake stands shocked.

"It's cool. What were you doing in here anyway?" Nate laughed.

"We came to look for you. The coach wants you at practice. He's pissed you missed the last one." Blake explained.

"You missed practice! When?" You stare at him, shocked.

"I was worried about you, I couldn't focus." He explained.

"I could have come and watched you." You explained.

"Why don't you come with us now?" Oscar suggested.

"I mean, sure, I'm waiting on my friend calling me, but I guess I can come." You smiled.

"Sweet." Oscar smiled.

You, Oscar, Blake, and Nate head downstairs, Taylor and Zack glare at you as you leave, and you head across to the football field.

You sit on the front row, watching Nate, cheering for him, your phone buzzes.

'Madison - We need to meet, library, I'll be waiting.'

you throw her a reply. 'Nate has practice, meet you in an hour?'

Madison replies with a smiley emoji. You continue to watch the game. When the game is over, Oscar, Blake, and Nate join you.

"So nerd wanna come get pizza?" Blake asked, laughing.

"I have to meet someone. Catch up with you guys later?" You smiled.

"Yeah, I'll fetch some pizza home for you." Blake smiled.

"Thanks." You smiled, you turn and walk away from the boys, Nate pulls the hem of your jacket.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"Madison has something to show me, I assume it's to do with the accident." You explained.

"Let me come with you." Nate smiled.

"No, you go with your friends, you've looked after me for long enough, go enjoy yourself, I'll keep you posted. I promise." You replied.

"Okay, erm, I'll see you later." Nate smiled.

"See you later." You give Nate a quick kiss and head to meet Madison.

You enter the library to see Madison waiting for you.

"I have some news. Do you want the good news first or the bad news?" Madison asked.

"Good news." You smiled.

"We caught the culprits of the attack." Madison explained.

"And the bad news?" You asked.

"One of them is a back stabber." Madison replied.

"Oh, show me the video." You asked.

Madison plays the video of just after you were attacked, Ella and Taylor leave the bathroom together, and Ella returns about ten minutes later.

"She tried to create herself an alibi." You remarked, sadly.

"We need to take this to the Dean." Madison explained.

"Do what you need, but send me a copy, please. Ella has some explaining to do." You asked.

Madison sends you the video. You text Nate to meet you in Beta house in ten minutes.

"Thank you, I owe you one." You rush out of the library and head to meet Nate, as you arrive at the Beta frat, Blake, Oliver and Nate pile out of Nates truck holding pizza boxes and looking panicked.

"What's up?" Blake asked, worried.

"Do we need to beat someone? At least let me put my pizza down first." Oliver asked.

"No, i needed to speak to Nate. You guys could have stayed at the pizza place." You explained, laughing a little.

"Nah, Nate's girl has a problem. We have a problem." Blake remarked, his eyes flashed a moment.

'He's one of us, a werewolf.'

"I found out who attacked me." You explained.

"Why are you smiling about that?" Nate asked concerned.

"I have an idea." You smiled. The boys followed your lead into the house.

"PARTY BETA HOUSE, TOMORROW NiGHT!" You yelled.

"Are you sure about this?" Nate asked.

"Trust me." You smile at him to reassure him.

You grab a pizza box off of the boys and dash for Nate's room, the three boys chase after you.

"So what's the plan?" Blake asked.

"We act like it's a normal party. Then we play the tape on the TV, I have some computer geeks who can rig it up if we need it." You explained.

"I'll do it. Send me the video, and I'll hook you up." Oliver beamed.

"Thanks." You nod at Oliver.

"We play the video, then what?" Nate asked.

"We call them out." You explained.

"And who is them?" Nate asked.

"Taylor and Ella." You replied.

"I'll kill her and Kain." You can hear the aggression in Nates' voice.

"That isn't going to help anyone. You need to pretend everything is okay until we reveal it tomorrow." You explained.

"Fine." Nate huffed.

The night of the party had arrived, the boys were getting into position, the party was in mid swing, then you played the video, and the music was cut off.

"Ella, come out!" You snapped.

Ella sheepishly steps forward. You lunge towards Ella, Blake pulls you back while Oscar holds Nate back.

"You knew, and you covered it up, lied about it, and acted like we were friends." The rage rises.

"You deserved it. First, you got Zack, and now you have Nate, you're nothing, and you don't deserve either of them." Taylor spat.

"So you attacked me? To achieve what exactly?" You snapped.

"To teach you a lesson, I told you to break up with Nate." Taylor hissed.

"Why?" Nate interjects you both.

"Because I'm in love with you!" Taylor snapped.

"I don't love you, Taylor." Nate replied, shocked by taylors confession.

"But you love her?" Taylor replied, her voice cracking a little.

"We haven't said it yet." Nate blushed.

Taylor storms off after Zack, and you turn to Ella.

"You were supposed to be my friend. Why'd you do it?" You asked her.

"Ever since you and Nate started hanging out, you've been blowing me and Kain off." Ella snapped.

"I blew you off because you hung out with Zack." You explained.

"He's our friend too." Ella explained.

"Enough of your friend you'd attack his ex-girlfriend." You snapped again.

"I didn't mean for it to go like that." Ella sighed.

"I don't want to hear it, I'm done with you. Never speak to me again." You snapped.

Kain was about to walk away until Nate and Blake charge at him. Knocking him to the floor.

"Did you know?" Nate growled.

"Get the hell off of me, I'll give you answers." Kain grunted.

They pull Kain to his feet.

"Yes, i knew." Kain sighed.

"This whole time, you sat in the same house as us, claiming to be angry, and you'd deal with anyone that caused it. Your girlfriend did it, and so did Taylor." Nate yelled.

"I had no choice." Kain snapped.

"You could have been a man and told Nate the truth." Blake snapped.

"I'm sorry." Kain muttered.

"Sorry, doesn't repair the damage caused, I had to sit and watch the woman i love in pain every day because of Ella and Taylor!" Nate had pain in his voice.

'Did Nate just say he loves me?'

Kain goes to speak but is cut off by Blake.

"The boys took a vote. You're out of the house." They announced.

"Did anyone actually want me to stay?" Kain snapped.

"Zack did, but he isn't here, so goodbye, move into Ella's dorm." Blake remarked.

Kain storms off in a huff. The other boys huddle around you and hug you. You laugh at the group hug. Zack arrives back after his fight with Taylor. His eyes are red and puffy, and he approaches you.

"We should clear the air. Can we chat?" Zack asked.

"Sure." You smiled.

"I'm sorry for everything, the stuff that happened before we broke up and after, everything, I want us to be friends." Zack smiled.

"Thank you for the apology. Did you know about Taylor attacking me?" You asked.

"No, she came back with red knuckles, I questioned her, but she told me she punched a wall, I took her word for it because I saw her temper." Zack explained.

"Okay, i believe you." You smiled.

"If any of us find out you knew all along, you'll join Kain." Blake remarked.

"I swear I had no idea." Zack replied, sadly.

"No problem." Blake looked taken aback.

You had up to bed after an exhausting day. Nate follows you. You hurriedly change into your pjs.

"You said before to Kain you loved me. Was that true?" You asked, cheeks blushing a little.

"That's not how I wanted to tell you, can we pretend I never said it, I have something special planned." Nate blushed.

"Sure." You smiled.

"Thanks, Nerd." Nate laughed.

"You need a new name for me now because the guys call me nerd." You laughed.

"I'll think of one." Nate laughed.

"Goodnight, Nate." You laughed.

"Goodnight, Nerd." Nate pressed a kiss on your forehead, and you drift off.
