Xavier's POV

I couldn't help myself. All my attention was focused on Tara as the teacher droned on about some historical event I couldn't care less about. She was sitting just a few rows ahead, occasionally touching the flowers on her desk and smiling to herself. Every time she did it, I felt this weird flutter in my chest.

She kept pulling out that letter and reading it again, her cheeks turning pink each time. I knew every word of that letter by heart since I'd written it, but watching her react to it over and over again was intoxicating. I mean, it's been two days now, and she still has the letter and the flower? It sounds crazy, but appealing in some ways.

The way her eyes lit up, the way she bit her lower lip when she smiled, it was lik

  • My Bullies Are Twin Hockey Players   Chapter 37: The Party Setup

Jasper's POVIt was the day of the party, and I was more than pleased that Aunt Karen had agreed to use their house for our celebration. The fact that she had even offered to help us decorate the sitting room made everything feel perfectly legitimate.I stood back and surveyed our work so far. The sitting room was already looking transformed. We'd pushed the furniture against the walls to create more space, hung colorful streamers from the ceiling, and set up a makeshift bar area on the dining table. The whole place had a festive atmosphere that I was genuinely proud of.But as I continued arranging the decorations, I couldn't help but notice that Xavier wasn't really having it. His movements were sluggish, mechanical, like he was going through the motions without any real enthusiasm. This was completely unlike him. Usually, when it came to anything involving getting back at Tara, Xavier was the one taking the lead, the one with the most energy and ideas.Instead, he'd been acting moo

  • My Bullies Are Twin Hockey Players   Chapter 36: Confrontations

Tara's POVThe next morning, I woke up with the memory of last night still replaying in my head like a broken record. Each time I remembered pushing the twins away, I felt a stab of satisfaction. But then I'd remember the hurt look on my mum's face when I told her to use the twins as her children, and my stomach would twist with guilt.I hated that I had talked to my mum like that. The words had come out harsher than I'd intended, but what I hated even more was that she believed the twins' fake care. The way they had just sat there watching me choke, their faces blank with indifference, only springing into action when they heard her footsteps, it made my blood boil every time I thought about it.I got ready for school mechanically, each movement feeling heavy w

I brushed my teeth harder than necessary. I pulled my hair back with more force than needed, yanking at the strands until my scalp ached. When I got downstairs, the scene that gree

  • My Bullies Are Twin Hockey Players   Chapter 33: Breakfast Shock

Tara's POVI was downstairs, fully dressed and ready for school, when Mom called out from the kitchen."Tara, honey, go call the twins for breakfast," she said, not looking up from the eggs she was scrambling.I stopped in my tracks, my backpack halfway onto my shoulder. "Why can't you go yourself?" I asked, trying to keep the irritation out of my voice.Mom turned to face me, her eyebrows raised. "Excuse me? Where did you keep your manners, young lady?"I felt my jaw clench. The last thing I wanted to do was go knock on their door and deal with their smug faces first thing in the morning. "Mom, I really don't want to….” "Tara," she said in that tone that meant the discussion was over. "Go call them. Now."I let out an angry sigh and stomped toward the stairs. "Fine," I muttered under my breath.I was already annoyed as I climbed the stairs, thinking about how I'd have to see their stupid faces and probably deal with some snarky comments. When I reached their door, I was so frustrat

  • My Bullies Are Twin Hockey Players   Chapter 32: The Plan

Xavier's POVI couldn't stop smiling to myself as I replayed Tara's expression from class earlier. The way her face had lit up when she saw the flowers, the way she'd clutched that letter to her chest like it was the most precious thing in the world, it was almost too perfect. She had no idea that her "secret admirer" was sitting just a few desks away, watching her every reaction."Dude, you need to stop grinning like that," Jasper said, flopping down on the bed and staring at me with concern. "You look like you're going crazy. What's gotten into you lately?"I quickly wiped the smile off my face, realizing I'd been lost in thought again. "Nothing, just... thinking about something funny."
