Chapter 1

ผู้เขียน: Three salaries
Summer Moreno, Jasper Clarke’s childhood sweetheart, went abroad years earlier.

After returning to the country a year ago, she learned that he had secretly married Esther Rivera.

Using her excuse of being his childhood sweetheart, she would pick fights with Esther at every opportunity.

Esther had cried, voiced her jealousy over Summer, and had even made a scene. However, Jasper only said that he saw Summer as a younger sister and told Esther to be patient and give in.

Back at the police station, Esther touched her belly, ignored Summer, and looked toward the station’s entrance.

Jasper arrived quickly. His tall frame drew everyone’s attention the moment he entered.

He did not look at Esther even once and walked straight to Summer.

“Sunny, are you okay?”

Summer shot a smug glance at Esther. She then jumped up from her chair and threw herself into his arms, looking at him with a pitiful expression.

“Jas, you’re finally here. I’ve never been to a police station before. I was so scared!”

He naturally wrapped his arm around her waist and comforted her, saying, “I’m here now. I’ve got you.”

The police officer, John Hayward, politely said, “So, Ms. Moreno is Mrs. Clarke after all. That pregnant woman sure sounded convincing. I can’t believe she turned out to be an imposter.”

Jasper turned to look at Esther in the corner like she was a stranger. He only glanced at her briefly before looking away.

He then said to John, “I’ll be taking my wife with me now.”

When he took Summer’s hand and turned to walk away, Esther spoke up in a hoarse voice.

“Wait,” she said.

She opened her bag, took out a marriage certificate, and handed it to John.

“This is my marriage certificate with Jasper. It has an official stamp. Feel free to verify it.”

Summer’s face turned pale. She looked at Jasper with a flustered expression and said, “Jas...”

He frowned.

Before John could reach out for the marriage certificate, Jasper snatched it away.

He tore it to pieces without hesitation, tossed them to the floor, and said, “It’s fake.”

Esther stared blankly at the pile of shredded paper on the floor. She then looked at him in disbelief.

Summer quickly recovered her composure. She leaned against his chest and let out a snicker.

“You probably don’t know this, but she’s just some low-level employee at Clarke Group. She has been living in a fantasy world, thinking she can marry up the social ladder.

“A few months ago, she got fired for constantly sending Jasper creepy love messages. Everyone at the company knew about it. Look at her now. She has gotten so unhinged that she is even bringing out fake documents.”

John frowned and looked at Esther, saying, “You got a fake marriage certificate just to pass yourself off as Mr. Clarke’s wife? Do you know that forging documents is a crime?

“He is the heir of the Clarke family. How dare you try to pull such a stunt on him?”

She stared stubbornly at Jasper. “Tell him, Jasper. Tell him if it’s fake.”

He just ignored her and took the triumphant Summer’s hand and left.

Esther stood there quietly, watching them leave. All the tears she had forced down while Summer tormented her finally came pouring out.

Due to her pregnancy, she was only detained for three days.

As she walked out of the police station, she spotted Jasper’s car parked at the curb.

When he saw her, he reached out and touched her pale cheek.

She turned her face to avoid his touch.

His expression stiffened.

What he said was meant to explain, but it came out more like an accusation.

“I told you from the start that we have to keep this marriage a secret. There was no reason to let your drama with Sunny escalate to calling the police and forcing me to acknowledge you as my wife publicly.

“Besides, she’s fragile. I couldn’t stand the thought of her being locked up, so I had to let you take the fall instead.

“Come on. Let’s head home first.”

Esther subconsciously traced her heavily swollen belly and smirked.

So, he could not bear to have his childhood sweetheart detained, yet he had no problem having his eight-month-pregnant wife detained.

“Jasper, I want a divorce.”

Jasper’s right leg got infected, and he ended up back in the hospital. Esther was brought in for a checkup, too.Early the next morning, Alex sent everything his team had investigated to Jasper. Jasper took a deep breath and opened the files. The more he read, the paler he got.Summer had slapped Esther in public and called her a mistress on purpose. It was not because Esther had been showing off, as Summer had claimed. When Esther was suspected of stealing at the banquet, that too had been orchestrated by Summer. As for the chat logs that spread around the office, Summer had stolen them from Esther’s phone. It was not what Summer claimed. She said Esther had sent them just to show off and provoke her into retaliating.Summer was also behind the allergy incident. She was the one who stole his phone and transferred the money to the maid.Even Summer’s injury was staged. She had used it to get rid of his and Esther’s baby.Jasper stared at the files. The next moment, Jasper jumped straight into the reservoir and swam frantically toward Esther.Summer was shocked when she saw him. “Jas, what are you doing here?“Are you crazy?! Get out of the water! It’s dangerous to swim in a reservoir like this!”He ignored her and kept his eyes fixed on Esther’s sinking body as he swam desperately to her side.By the time he reached her, she was slowly losing consciousness. He patted her cheek and said, “Esther, stay with me. I’m getting you out of here. Don’t you dare fall asleep on me.”She only glanced at him, unable to give any response. His heart clenched as he pulled her onto his back and carried her toward the shore with all his strength. The extra weight and his injured thigh made every stroke a struggle.Several times, he almost could not make it and thought he would sink into the water with Esther. When Summer saw this from the shore, she became worried and furious.“Jasper, do you really love her so much that you’d die for h

Jasper narrowed his eyes as he thought of how Summer had teamed up with Samantha to drug him. He finally realized that he might not know who Summer truly was after all. After a moment, he said reluctantly, “I know. I just thought it was a schoolgirl crush, and nothing more.“But don’t worry. I know you can’t stand her. I’ve already made things clear with her. I won’t have any contact with her from now on.“I’ve warned my mother, too. Since you don’t like seeing them, you never have to set foot in that house again. You don’t need to walk on eggshells around them again.“Once we remarry, things will go back to the way they were. We’ll be happy again.”He looked at Esther hopefully. However, she shook her head bitterly. “Jasper, we can never go back to the way things were.”In the past, she had always clung to memories of how things used to be. She desperately explained herself to him, argued with him, and tried every possible way to make him see Summer’s true colors. At this p

Esther stepped forward and frowned at Jasper. “What are you doing here?”Jasper looked at her with an intense, longing gaze. “I came to take you home.”Her mother, Lily Rivera, pulled her behind her to shield her. Her hair was streaked with gray, and she glared at him. “Mr. Clarke, we don’t know what happened between you and Esther, but I know my daughter’s been hurt.“She already told us that you two are divorced. She’s not going anywhere with you. We don’t want your gifts. Please leave.”The neighbors around them erupted into murmurs. “Divorced?”“They’ve only been married a few years. Yet they’re already divorced?”“Rich people are all the same. Could it be that he cheated?”“See? I told you that marrying into a rich family is never easy. Look at Esther. She’s been hiding at home ever since she got back, moping around.”Jasper’s heart ached when he heard this. He hurried to explain, saying, “I didn’t cheat. Esther is the only woman I love.”Esther noticed that her paren

Jasper was rushed into the operating room.Samantha stood outside the operating room, exhausted. When she thought of Jasper being covered in blood, she glanced at Summer impatiently.“All right, enough. You asked me to help you, and I did. Look where it got us. My son is in surgery fighting for his life!“Summer, I may not like Esther, but I sure don’t want to lose my son.“It’s come to this, and Jas still won’t have you. So, stop pushing it.”Summer abruptly raised her head to look at her. Seeing the resolve in Samantha’s eyes, she could only grit her teeth and nod.“Fine.”Deep down, she felt resentful.Tears were streaming down her face as she looked toward the operating room, yet her eyes were filled with madness. Her body trembled. Her hands hung by her sides, with fingernails that were almost digging into her flesh.‘It’s all Esther’s fault! It’s because of that wench that Jas won’t even look at me!’ Summer thought.‘I tried everything, and I still can’t get what I wan

That feeling was both unfamiliar and familiar, and it came on with overwhelming force.Jasper turned to look at Samantha. His gaze fell on the teacup she had just handed him.“What did you do to me?”She sneered, “I’m doing this for your own good!“You’ve been tuning out your own mother for some lowly woman! At this rate, you won’t even care whether your father and I exist anymore!”She then ordered the bodyguards, “Take him to his room.”Jasper had not brought any bodyguards with him when he returned to his family home. The Clarke family’s bodyguards seized him, one on each side, and dragged him directly upstairs.Instead of struggling, he simply looked at her with cold indifference. His expression hurt her. She avoided his eyes. She straightened her back and said stubbornly, “Once it’s done, there’s no undoing it. You’ll have no choice but to accept it.”He shot her a mocking look as the bodyguards shoved him into the room and locked the door from the outside.Sure enoug
