Fifty Nine

Dwane's POV

I was at the meeting when someone came to whisper to my ear that someone was there to see me. I wondered who it was as I was not expecting anyone.

I asked them to call the person in while excusing myself from the meeting.

"Continue from where we stopped, I'll join you soon," I said then I left the meeting room.

I entered the room and I saw one of the guards from home,

"Are you not supposed to be guarding the house? What are you doing here?"

"Sir, I was sent to inform you of what happened to your wife,"

"My wife? What happened to her? Is she fine? Is she hurt? Is Talon okay?" I bombarded him with questions. "What could have happened?" I thought.

"She was attacked by rogues on the way to the event," he said.

"Oh my goodness, how did that happen? Where is she? Where are they?" I asked hurriedly.

"They are fine sir, they are at home," I was relieved.

"Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"Sorry sir, but I was trying to talk when you interrupted me,"
