RONAN’S POV

The waves crashed against the shore in a steady rhythm but nothing about it calmed me. The air was crisp with the scent of salt and damp sand as I ran along the beach, my feet sinking into the cool grains with every step. I wasn’t running for the exercise but because I needed to clear my head and to find some way to breathe through the mess that last night had become.

I had no intention of going to the gym. Mason would be there, and after what happened, I couldn’t stand the thought of looking at him. Wren had been the one to kiss him but he had kissed her back, fully aware of what she meant to me. That alone made my blood boil.

This alliance was already fragile but now, for the first time I was questioning whether I could go through with it. The easy thing to do would be to walk away, to let Mason and his pack fend for themselves. But I couldn’t. My people needed this. And if there was one thing I had learned, it was that my own needs would always come second.

  • My Step Daddy’s Holimate   40: Luna candidate

WREN’S POV The night air was thick with anticipation. From the moment I stepped into the grand ballroom, I felt the unspoken tension and the weight of a hundred curious stares pressing down on me. The room was a masterpiece of gold and silver chandeliers dripping with crystals that cast glittering reflections across the marble floors. Laughter and murmured conversations filled the space but I barely heard any of it. Because I could feel him all around me, Ronan. We didn’t come together because he had an errand to run so I came here alone. Even before my gaze found him, my body was attuned to his presence. And when I finally did spot him across the room my breath stuttered in my chest. He was dressed in all black, his suit fitting him too perfectly, his powerful frame impossible to ignore. He looked like a king among men, his expression unreadable but his storm-colored eyes were already locked on me. A flicker of something dark passed through his gaze but he didn't move.

  • My Step Daddy’s Holimate   38: Fading mark

WREN’S POV The regret hit me instantly. The moment my lips left Mason’s, a sickening wave of nausea churned in my stomach all cold and relentless. I stumbled back the world tilting violently beneath my feet. Mason’s hands shot out, trying to steady me but I jerked away as if burned. I couldn’t even breathe properly. What had I just done? My head pounded the music, the crackling bonfire and the scattered laughter all blurring into meaningless noise. Camille’s voice cut through the chaos calling my name with her face etched with worry as she moved toward me. But I couldn’t stand there and let her see the shame twisting inside me like a knife. So I ran like the fucking coward i have been my whole life. I didn’t wait for her to catch up and didn’t bother with explanations. My legs carried me toward the cabin my breaths coming in sharp and uneven gasps. By the time I reached the bathroom my hands were trembling so badly that I nearly ripped the door off its hinges trying

  • My Step Daddy’s Holimate   37: Alpha Mason

WREN’s POV The Alpha’s words settled over me like a dense fog all thick and suffocating. My heart pounded against my ribs as I took a step back, my fingers unconsciously reaching for my mark feeling the faint ridges of where Ronan’s teeth had once sunk into my skin. Fading? That wasn’t possible. It wasn’t supposed to be possible. Mating marks are not meant to fade no matter what happens. What does it mean it is going away? I didn’t even notice. I cannot wait to go and check if he is right but why would he lie to me? I forced a breath my throat tightening as I searched Mason’s face for any hint of a lie but all I found was quiet confidence and certainty. He knew exactly what he was saying and exactly what kind of chaos he had just stirred inside me. “Ronan never told you did he?” Mason mused, his voice a gentle hum beneath the music and crackling fire. He didn’t look surprised. If anything, there was something patient about him and something that made my skin prickle wi

  • My Step Daddy’s Holimate   36: Bonfire

WREN’S POV The moment Ronan handed me his black card, I knew he was serious about this bonfire party. He wants to make sure this alpha knows he wasn’t here to joke. He came as a guest but if this is what it takes to become allies with him then so be it. “Get whatever’s needed” he said simply, slipping the card into my hand with that same detached authority he always carried. It was maddening how effortless he made things seem like dropping a small fortune on an event wasn’t even worth blinking over. “You trust me with this?” I raised my eyebrow at him wanting him to see little sense. I don’t woke well with cards anymore. “No, I think I shouldn’t. But I don’t have time for it” His lips twitched like he was amused. Seems like I’ve turned into a comedian to this man and the thing is I don’t even mind. I rolled my eyes and walked off already pulling out my phone to call Camille. If there was one person who could turn a regular bonfire into something legendary it was her.

  • My Step Daddy’s Holimate   35: Cooking

WREN’S POV Warmth. That was the first thing I noticed as consciousness slowly pulled me from the dephts of sleep. A gentle and lingering heat still clung to my skin sinking into the sheets wrapped snugly around me. My lashes fluttered with the hazy edges of sleep softening my thoughts and cradling me in a lull that made me want to stay here forever. But something was missing. I turned my head slightly pressing my face deeper into the pillow and inhaling faint traces of musk and something uniquely him. The scent made my chest squeeze and made my lips part as if I could breathe in the remnants of his presence and trick myself into believing he was still here. But he wasn’t. My fingers curled against the sheets, the absence beside me more jarring than it should have been. I had fallen asleep in his arms and remembered that much. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat and the weight of his hand resting against my back and the way his fingers had tangled lazily into my hair w
