VANCE "Yes, yes, that's true, we really don't know anything, we were just rogues who were roaming around. We were going to die, anyway, but that woman helped us enter the pack, and she helped us get jobs inside the castle. She told us that we owe our lives to Alpha Trevor and that we have to do as they ask or else we are going to die!" "She also gave us poison before we got here. Every month, she gives us the antidote; if we don't take the antidote, we are going to die. Besides that, we don't really know anything else!" "Please, please, spare us, alpha," they begged. Brandon and I shared a dark look. Trevor was making use of rogues, and he was even using more poison; there was no way this could be traced!Besides, just like I expected, these people did not know much. The only thing they've been able to point out is that there's a woman who's probably the head of Trevor's spies. I frowned as I tried to figure out who that woman was. I remembered that Seraphina had said the same t
VANCE"Send out the news that I am sick again. The poison has taken effect once again, and I am on the verge of death," I ordered Brandon. Brandon looked at me in shock. I couldn't be better than ever, and I was asking him to say something different; I could understand why he was shocked ."Alpha....is it okay for us to do this? You are better than ever...." Brandon said. "Exactly, I am sure that Trevor has already received the news that his poison didn't work. I am sure that his spies are keeping an eye on me more than ever. Watch everyone who tries to contact anyone outside of the castle in the next few days, I am sure we are going to find out just who the spies are soon," I ordered. ......I was lying in bed later in day, with Brandon standing guard outside of my bedroom, when I heard some noises. "Where is the alpha? I thought he said he was fine just yesterday. How come he's sick again? And how come he's on the verge of death?" I heard Sabrina's frantic voice outside. "Sabri
CAMILLEI turned sharply once I felt a hot gaze on my back, and there was Trevor, staring at me, an unreadable look in his eyes. It scared me out of my senses, but I tried my best to act normal. Moving away from the men that I was training, I walked over to him, "What are you doing here, Trevor?" I asked him. The past few days, he hadn't bothered me, probably because he was too busy with whatever master plan he was cooking up, and I was grateful for it. I was back to training the soldiers, and for a few hours, I could pretend like everything was normal. I could pretend like I didn't have my entire life ripped away from me when Trevor decided he was done with me and tried to get rid of me. Trevor smiled at me, "I can see that you're having a good time training them. You know, when you left back then, it was hard for me to find someone else to train these soldiers. They were insisting on having only you train them, and it took a lot of effort to get them to listen to someone else. Y
VANCESabrina was quiet for a few minutes, and I had no idea what I was expecting her to say; I just knew that I wanted her to say something. Finally, she sighed, "I don't know, I don't know what's going on. Does this mean that Elder Patrick was not the one who asked her to do it? She said it was him at first," Sabrina said. She wasn't stupid, and so I wasn't surprised that Sabrina could figure this out for herself. "Yes, I think so too. The lives of his family members are still in my hands. So why would he take the risk to do something so foolish?" I asked. Sabrina shrugged, and she soon changed the topic. "About the poison, I heard Brandon speculate that Camille was the one who made the poison. Do you know what's going on with that? How could she betray you when you were the one who saved her? Is she suddenly on Trevor's side now?" Sabrina asked me. I was in a horrible mood once I was reminded of this, "I am sure that there's something we don't know about," I said. Camille was
VANCEBrandon and I were silent for a few minutes, each with different thoughts in our minds. I had no evidence, just a hunch, but I was almost sure that this was not Elder Patrick's doing. He still had his family in my hands; there was no way he would be so stupid when he wanted his wife and his son to live so badly. The guard who had been dealing with the body walled out, a frown on his face. "Alpha, there are some strangulation marks on the neck of the body," he informed me. I turned to him sharply, "What do you mean?" I asked urgently. "Well, if it were suicide, we wouldn't have found those marks on her neck. It seemed as if someone strangled her to death, and then set it up to look like suicide," the guard explained.I smiled coldly. I was even more convinced now. Someone else had tried to kill me and had pinned it on Elder Patrick. It seemed that it was time for me to sweep the castle clean. I had to get rid of every potential spy. "Murder.....someone murdered the maid ri
VANCE I tried to sit up on the bed, and the healer quickly reached out a hand to help me. "What is going on?" I asked, and my mind was clearer now. I remembered that Sabrina had insisted on throwing this party because it was Leila's birthday, I could not stop her, and so I let her do whatever she wanted. After that, I had a bit too much to drink, and I remembered her helping me back to my bedroom. And then....I squinted my eyes as I realised that my memory after that was completely blank. What was going on? The healer was looking at me carefully, and this made me even more confused. "What exactly is going on here?" I demanded to know once again. The healer shook his head, "Alpha, you've been in a coma for the past three days. You were poisoned, and we were unable to wake you up at all. Do you feel.....okay?" He asked me as he eyed me suspiciously. The door was pushed open before I could answer, and a frantic Brandon came rushing in. His eyes landed on me, and he had the same
