CHAPTER 5

Astraea's POV

My laugh echoed through the whole room as I watched my mom getting embarrassed under Dad's sleazy flirty lines.

She glared at him then smiled menacingly. Turning towards me, her eyes gleamed with mischief.

"You know, your Uncle James was just 15 when we were in college. There was a great buzz about the Transformers movie in his school, so he begged me to take him to watch it. And of course being the stalker your father and his friends were, they were also there at the movies. I was waiting for James to come back from the restroom, when Nate approached me. Do you know what he said ?" She looked at Dad with a smirk.

"He said and I quote. 'If you were a Transformer you would be Optimus Fine.'."

I chuckled, looking over at Dad, who casually cut his steak and shrugged at me.

"What?, I thought it was cool."

"Cool?, You said that line with such a straight face and sweating like a half cooked chicken, that it took me a whole minute to realize that you were flirting." She argued while aggressively shoving a piece of steak in her mouth.

"You were looking at the poster for quite a long moment, so I thought you liked the movie."

She rolled her eyes but I could see a little smile on her lips. No matter how cheesy it was, those stupid attempts of my Dad clearly made her heart flutter.

"What? You don't believe me. If you were a vegetarian, I would have said you look like a cute-cumber."

This time my mom laughed . My Dad was at least 6'3" with green eyes , so bright and alluring, complete contrast to his black hair. A sharp jaw with an athletic built body. Safe to say that he was a heartthrob in his time. But he still did these stupid things for mom, it only proved how pure and never-ending his love is.

Luckily, I ended up taking the bright features of my parents. My blonde hair and green eyes, was something my Dad found captivating since I was a baby. So he literally give me the nasty eye whenever I talked about dying my hair, only to tease him of course.

"Also honey, if you liked fruit, I would have said something along the lines, 'If you were a fruit, you would have been a fine-apple'."

He gave a wink to her as I literally cringed at his words.

My mom raised her eyebrow. "Are you sure it's not Pine apple, because I feel pricked all over with your stares." She winked back at him and I swear to god Dad was a sight to see.

His cheeks turned crimson as he sneakily tried to cover them with his hands. Mom chuckled and gave him a flying kiss.

"Geez, I don't wanna see you guys flirt anymore. I am done. Goodnight dear folks." They wished me back as I went upstairs in my room.

Taking a shower, I sat down at my bed. My gaze fell over the book kept on the table.

Right, I should start with the assignment.

"Myth of The Broken Throne". I mumbled opening the book. The pages were yellowish, a little tattered on the corners, clearing showing how old it was. Nonetheless, the classic vibes were all I needed to jump into the story.

It didn't really had any author or publication house mentioned .

Weird but whatever. It's the story I need.

Eons and eons ago, when the world was just formed. The humans were new to the concept of living. Harmony, humanity and belongingness was something coated within the subjects of almighty. They walked the earth and evolved with time. Learned and accepted new things, watched the different wonders the nature manifested.

The supernatural world was soon discovered by the subjects. The harmony in them welcomed the creatures with special ability. Magic and wonders become a part of their lives.

But just like the garden of Eden, destroyed when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit of knowledge, it was natural that utopia couldn't really be established on the realm of earth when people were starting to acknowledge their desires and needs.

The once equivalent world soon changed its dynamics. The sudden jealousy, fear , superiority and inferiority were laced within the supernatural and mortals, creating a large wall between them.

The night of peace soon, become a canopy , veiling everyone's deepest and darkest secrets. Mortals walked under the minimal moonlight in fear of getting ambushed by those magically evil creatures while some started digging deeper holes in the heart of the togetherness to use those powers for their foolish humanly greed.

Everything was chaos. The war between the gifted one and the mortals was almost on the verge of destroying each other. The only witness was the bright moon hidden behind the clouds.

The moon goddess's heart was shattered as she watched her own brightness growing faint under the blackened hearts of her subjects.

No, she decided the realm could no longer do as it please. A union was needed. So with all the love and hope within her she created a species of her own.

The Werewolves.

A union of a wolf and human, a supernatural being.

The look of the wolf penetrated the soul while the human heart was rationalized. They were the warriors of the moon goddess.

One who could protect as well as kill. The heart of a ferocious beast and the mind of a sensible kind.

One who are the rulers as well as the warriors of the realm of earth.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Dark trunks were the only thing around me. The sky was a little of every color I have seen. Weird but wonderful.

Far away, the nightingale's voice felt like a melodious symphony.

Where was I ?

I kept moving forward. Soon the nightingale's voice melted into the dark of the night. But it wasn't the silence that greeted me. Rather a humming. A beautiful humming.

I followed the sound and reached near a lake. The large bushes hiding my figure. I saw a women, her hands softly creating ripple in the crystal-clear water as she hummed euphoniously.

Her delicate, curvy figure was covered in a beautiful white gown. The slit of the dress exposed her milky skin which shimmered under the moonlight. Her long blonde hair were beautifully tangled. So unruly and wild.

I could only see her back as she faced the lake. Few moments passed as I watched her going into the forest.

With silent footsteps, I followed her but suddenly , she was nowhere to be found.

"We finally meet." A sweet, soft voice addressed me. I turned around but she was not there.

Shuffling of trees gained my attention and there she was hidden behind the layers of greenery. Yet the only thing visible were her sharp icy blue eyes. So beautiful and hypnotic that I could almost see myself in them.

"You seem confused. But don't be, it will all come to you soon." I could feel her smile in her voice. She still kept herself hidden from my view.

"But now that we have met, there is one thing you should know." Her eyes were watery but voice stern and soft.

"Time is precious dear. It can create and destroy you. Don't be blind in the fury of a moment but see the yearning and agony the heart felt in the curse of million years. When you see that, I know you will do the right thing. You always have. We always have."

Her stare grew intense like she tried to sense me and the turmoil in my heart but all she did was turn and vanish into the dark woodland.

A sudden pain in my heart almost stopped my breathing and there, it was again. Those blue, icy cold flames burning my skin and numbing everything.

Everything but the pain of a broken heart.
