Six: His Threat, Her Fear

Nathan's POV:

The light noise of the air conditioner floods the silence in my room, but it does nothing to calm the uneasiness I feel.

I lean against the edge of my desk, my arms crossed, recollecting the events of the night.

Abigail's pink journal sits in front of me, its cheap, glittery cover catching the light from my bedside lamp.

I've read enough of it to know things I wish I didn't-things she's never going to live down if I have any say in it.

Part of me feels ridiculous for still being awake, but I can't let this slide. I can't let her or her mother ruin everything.

My dad might be a billionaire, but he's as clueless as they come when it comes to women. Eliana isn't here for love.

She's here for his money, and Abigail? She's just the tag-along daughter, trying to fit into a world she has no business being part of.

I hear her soft footsteps outside my door before she even reaches it.

She's trying to be quiet, certainly in hopes of not disturbing those asleep. My lips curl into a
