LOGINKIAN
He knew getting mated right away was rash as he didn't fully trust his new mate yet. Even though their bond had been for the sole benefit of revenge, his chest had tightened when she bluntly made it clear that she didn't want him as a mate.
He wasn't at all surprised by this, not many women wanted a mute man for a mate. He closed his eyes, forcing himself to stay awake. Since they were mated and keeping up the pretence of being in love, he had to stay in his private living room while she took a shower.
Their mating ceremony had been quick and private, he already had his assistance sent out an invitation for the formal event happening the following morning. Although it had been quick, he hoped the very person he wanted there would show up.
Alpha Alec, he didn't know the man by that name. He went by the name Dean when his sister had introduced him as her mate. She had looked at him with so much love and devotion.
He partially blamed himself for her death, he should have investigated him more but after what they went through as children to their late teens, it was the first in a long time since he had seen her that happy.
He didn't want to ruin it, he was afraid if he did anything to dim that light she would hate him and never smiled again.
"I know you're my big brother, therefore you will always feel protective of me. But you can trust Dean, or at least trust me." She had told him, of course he trusted her! Which was why he stepped back.
After her mating ceremony he didn't hear anything from her the following morning, he thought to give the happy couple space... That mistake had cost him her life because two days later she was washed up on the eastern side of the beach.
The memory was too painful, causing him to shut his eyes and smooth his hand over his forehead, hoping to release some of the tension in his guts.
The shower finally stopped running, he gave her another twenty minutes before going into the bedroom. Luckily, she was all dressed up and seemed to be waiting for him.
"Good, you are here. I thought of something." In her excitement to tell him whatever it was, she gripped his shoulders and urged him to sit on the bed. "Faking my identity and a memory loss will enable us to get close to Alec without him getting suspicious and paranoid."
He looked at her hands on his shoulders, she also noticed too and quickly removed her hands like it burned her. He nodded his head at her idea, it seemed like a good plan.
"Have you come up with anything yet?" She asked.
He shook his head and walked away, his head pounding, at that moment he wanted nothing more but to stay under the shower for the rest of the night.
When he emerged from the bathroom hours later, his new mate was arranging a pillow on a blanket she had spread on the floor, it was then it dawned on him that he didn't know her freaking name!
He went to his drawer to grab a pen and paper, and wrote down what he wanted to say. "What are you doing? And you haven't told me your name."
She smiled, probably at the last question. "You're right, if we want to convince everyone then we better start by knowing each other's name. Although I already know yours, my name is Xavie."
He nodded then pointed towards the blanket on the floor, frustration crawling at his guts that he wasn't able to communicate properly since she doesn't know sign language.
"Oh that? I wouldn't ask you to give up your bed, it's yours so, I'll be sleeping here." She patted the space. "Besides, I'm used to sleeping on the floor." What she meant by that last statement, he couldn't precisely tell.
No, we could share. He thought but since he couldn't say the words and signing was also out of the question, he pulled her up, urging her toward the bed.
"You want us to share?" He nodded. "Well, alright, thank you." She put back everything on the bed and slid in.
He went to the other side, his thoughts clouded with the first steps of his plan. His new mate had no idea he had a different revenge idea in mind and it will stay that way.
He didn't trust her not to sabotage his plans, after all this man in question used to be her mate, he just didn't trust her to do what they had both planned.
The servants were up the following morning, decorating the hall as everyone awaits the arrival of the guest. However, he still felt as sick as he was, since Xavie was faking a memory loss which thankfully made his own plan smoother.
"Alpha, the guests are almost reaching the borders." Shade informed him just as Tint appeared beside him, ready to translate.
He signed. "After this is over, you and I need to talk." Shade nodded and went away to attend to other matters.
"Kian!" He turned around at the sound of his godfather's voice. "I'm glad you didn't give up, although I'm a bit sceptical about who you choose to mate with."
He knew his guardian had his best interest at heart, just as he has always. So he signed. "Please, don't let her hear you."
"Siding the wife already?" He laughed, pretending to be offended before affectionately slapping his back. "There's a champagne bottle with my name on it, I'll be seeing you around."
After his guardian left, his sharp eyes refocused on waiting for the most important guest, who arrived shortly after. His fingers clenched into a fist as Dean or Alec approached him, it took every self control he could muster not to go off on him.
He had a woman beside him, from what Xavie had told him, he was guessing the woman was her half sister plus they also have a bit of resemblance between them.
"Alpha Kian!" Alec greeted him wholeheartedly. "How long has it been? I'm happy we met again in happier circumstances." The more he looked at him, the more he understood how women were able to fall for him.
He was charming and wore that like a mask. Unclenching his fists, he signed, turning away and leaving Tint to translate what he had said.
"Hey you..." A soft voice said behind him, coming up to place a kiss on his cheek. He looked at Xavie, taken aback before recalling it was what they were supposed to be doing.
"And who are our guests?" She was a naturally born actress, she turned her emerald green eyes on our shocked guests and their reaction was everything.
Circling his arms around her waist, he drew her closer, slamming her to his side. He could have sworn he heard her gasp but there was no way of confirming that, therefore he must have imagined it.
"Xavie?" Alec stuttered, his gaze filled with confusion and a hint of fear.
"Xavie?" She repeated, puzzled. "Do I look like someone you know? I'm Nyxia." She introduced, gazing up at him. "Is there something you aren't telling me?" She playfully asked.
"Forgive me." Alec responded, his hand reaching for hers and placing a kiss on it. "I'm Alpha Dean." His eyes were watching her, as if searching for something.
However he watched her return the smile and something in his chest tightened, he didn't like that feeling at all!
XAVIE I eased out of bed, stretching my tired limbs. I glanced at Kian’s empty side of the bed, knowing he wasn’t far off. Picking up the robe he had tossed carelessly last night, beside a discarded lingerie. I parted the curtains, taking in the view of the ocean. We have been on our honeymoon for the past two weeks, everyone at home has been calling, wondering when we are coming back.Kian disconnected the phone two days ago. According to him, he wants nothing to disrupt our peace. Not to mention I lost count of how many places we have visited, although the one thing I’m most excited to go home for is Hilda and Derek's mating ceremony that’s coming up. I laughed, settling down in front of the dressing mirror to brush my hair. Thinking about the new hobbies I have picked from travelling, while recalling I have a fishing contest with Derek back at home. Apparently, it was my punishment for stressing his ward. As for my parents house, I’m going to rent it out to any nice family that
XAVIE A few hours later, Kian fever had gone down and I decided to give him a tour of the house. One could imagine my surprise earlier when I walked into my bedroom to find it covered in flowers. Finding out from one of the maids that Kian brought them, had me blushing. My room looks like an orchid right now, not that I was complaining. When we arrived at the fish pond, I looked at him, wondering if he remembered. My heart skipped when I figured he wasn’t looking at the pond, his gaze was fixated on me. Nervously, I blurted out the first thing on my mind. “Aurora, how is she?” I asked, plastering a smile on my face. When the servant came to inform me about his arrival, I was in disbelief. I didn’t think he would come see me after we said our goodbyes. Filled with joy, I rushed into his arms. Thinking about it now, I could only hope I didn’t make a fool of myself, especially if he has decided to give Aurora a chance. “You didn’t take your things…” His thoughts creep into mine, for
KIAN It's been three days since Xavie left. The days are getting longer, making it seem like she left months ago. Her clothes were still untouched in her closet in their shared—bedroom. That should have given him hope, except that he knows her. He knew the reason she didn’t pack was because she felt like they never really belonged to her. He still hopes there’s a chance she might come back to claim them, to stay. He missed her laughter, her eyes, her smile… he fucking miss everything about her it makes him ache all over his body. People are still talking about Alec and Annika’s death, it’s something he doesn’t see anyone getting over anytime soon. The other victim's families are coming forward as well, he left things for Logan to handle, including settling her fake parents. Who had a nice time apparently to the extent that they decided to get married for real. Tint has been spending more time with that Asher boy. He could tell she was furious at him, she refused to say a word to h
XAVIE Home doesn’t feel like home anymore. It was empty, hollow and dusty. I ignored the feeling of emptiness that echoes through the walls of the house. Despite all that happened, I had great memories there from my earliest childhood, until everything changed. An unexpected sound startled me, causing me to twist around to inspect it. I was surprised to see an elderly lady walking toward me. “Hello…” I started, trying not to alarm her. “You must be Annika,” she responded, adding to my puzzlement. “How could you not have visited your mother? She wrote to you, and you showed up today?” “I’m sorry, but my name is Xavie. Not Annika.” However, that cleared some of my confusion whether or not Annika had been in contact with her mother. I had woken up this morning wondering how she would take the news. Not because I care, I wanted to gloat over her face as I determined what her fate would be. “I’m sorry, I haven’t been around for a while. I’m the owner of this house, where is she?” I
KIAN The following morning, the news spread like wildfire. Everyone was talking about it, the media houses were calling and writing, wanting one of them to grant them an interview. Looking at the paper should bring him some kind of joy… a glorious amount. Yet a dull ache settled over the region of his heart. He hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep since last night. As desperately as he wanted to be near Xavie, he couldn’t. It hurt too much, his chest tightened with each breath he took with the knowledge that she was leaving. He almost wished he could turn back the hands of the clock, to stop her from going to Keystone Pack that morning. The truth about Alec would have remained hidden, meaning he will get to hold on to her a little longer. Composing himself as a knock came through the door, he was half-expecting it to be Xavie… or Derek even. To his surprise, Aurora strode into his study with a smile on her face. Disappointed made him relaxed back on his chair, rubbing his hand over his
XAVIE I asked one of the dungeon guards for a dagger as I was being escorted to Annika’s cell. She jolted upright immediately she saw me approached, I stepped aside for the guard to open the cell bar. She fell to her knees immediately, grabbing my legs as she pleaded for me to have mercy on her. I have waited for this day for so long, not the day she will beg for mercy, because I never thought she was capable of any human emotions. But the day I’ll have her at my mercy. “Xavie… Alec made me do it!” She cried, probably realizing her begging hasn’t moved me a bit. “I never wanted to—he threatened me, I had no choice.” “It seemed to me like you’re the one suffering from animesa now, Annika. Because this wasn’t what you told me several hours ago. I didn’t come here to listen to you moan and whine about how you were a victim in your mate’s scheme, I came here so I could listen to what I have to say.” Drawing a sharp breath into my lungs, I didn’t think I would be this emotional. But s
XAVIE Overwhelmed by the feeling of happiness, I threw myself at him in gratitude not believing he sent his men to help me get my mother’s locket. Pulling away from the hug, I re-examined the locket to make sure it was really here in my hands, that I was really holding it. Once that had been conf
XAVIE For the first time since I have known him, Kian was still asleep when I woke up. Feeling oddly refreshed after not having any hint of nightmares during the night, I stretched out my limbs before getting out of bed. I came to the realization that he must still be tired out from the Alpha-Be
KIAN Early that morning, his spy reported back to him for the first time and as it turned out, Alec has been doing some digging on Iris. It didn’t shock him because he knew it was only a matter of time before he started trying to verify her identity to make sure she wasn’t the ex he screwed over.
XAVIE The silence continued for a few more minutes before Kian finally nodded his head in agreement, if I didn’t know better I would say I sensed some reluctance in him. Once that was settled, I straightened up and went to settle on the bed, ready to retire for the night. However sleep didn’t com
