Calix's Dilemma

Calix had barely slept that night. He had lain on the bed but had not slept a wink, regardless of how much he tried to.

He had shut his eyes tightly many times but the horrifying thought of what Jared had done to Aiden's mother haunted him so much that he had to keep his eyes wide open.

Tossing back and forth on the bed, he had woken his mate up but after assuring her that he was fine and waiting till she had gone back to sleep, he had left the bed and had begun to pace around until it was daybreak.

The morning sun had now risen, showing to everyone that it was a new day to begin another round of rat race.

However, while werewolves were leaving their various houses to resume their day's job, Calix stayed back, only staring through the window and watching some pack members talk and laugh.

His mate was still asleep; she had gotten home late from the party — apparently, the women's party took longer than the male's. But Calix thought it was a good thing his mat
