CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

He took a peek at Lanaya, pale and trembling as she breathed deeply. She continued looking away from him and down at the floor.

"Get the crazy dog its own dish and stop giving it yours!"

She took a deep breath and nodded her head wildly. She appeared happy that he hadn't gotten rid of the dog, but her voice betrayed her fear.

After a little discussion, the table went back to eating quietly. Lanaya's respiration slowed during her meal, and she ate slowly and mindfully. She stopped putting her hand under the table. Perhaps the dog was too full of moving after devouring its meal, as was his suspicion.

It was a relief not to hear from his sister. Salvetti found that he didn't need to focus on digestion. For this reason, he often ate his meals at his desk. Except in extreme cases, Salviana didn't generally disturb him there.

During those three minutes, nobody said a word.
