*INT. WELLINGTON ESTATE - 6 PM*
The front doors of the mansion slammed open.
Edward stormed in, his coat still on, his face dark as thunder. He didn’t stop at the lobby. He passed the maids who bowed as a sign of greeting to him.
He was heading straight for the sitting room — straight for his Grandfather. He was infuriated by the information his grandfather gave out and he wanted to confront him and demand answers.
But as he turned the marble corner, someone came out.
Kira.
She had just left the sitting room, her cream dress making her look small with innocence. She stopped dead when she saw him.
For a second, they just stared at each other.
Then Edward moved.
Fast.
In two strides he was in front of her. He grabbed her wrist and pushed her — not hard enough to hurt, but hard enough to trap her — back against the cold wall of the hallway.
One hand on the wall beside her head, caging her in. His body so close she could smell his cologne,as well as his anger.
Kira flinched. Her breath got caught in her throat as her back hit the cold marbel. From this angle, the difference in their height came out very striking.Edward was far above kira.Kira had a small stature and her head was barely reaching the top of Edward's chest.
Edward leaned down to level her eyes, his hazel eyes burning straight into hers, his voice low, furious, and shaking with rage.
“Is this a plan of yours?”
Kira’s eyes widened. “W-what?”
“Don’t play innocent with me, Kira.” His jaw was clenched, “From that hotel room till now — the reporters, the exact room number, the press conference, the wedding in two days — it's all your little set up,isn't it”
“I — I didn’t —” She was scared now, her small hands pressed against the wall behind her, her chest rising fast. She could feel his angry breath on her face.
“You didn’t?” He laughed, but there was no humor in it. “Then tell me, Kira Dickens, how is it that you are becoming Mrs. Edward Wellington in two days? Tell me!”He hissed almost loudly.
---
Kira’s eyes filled with tears. She shook her head frantically.
“No! I swear, Edward, I didn’t — I didn’t know anything! I was sitting there and he — your Grandfather — he just said it! I don’t want to marry you this way either!”
Her voice cracked. She was trembling against the wall.
Edward stared down at her, his anger still burning but kira kept looking at him as if he owed her an apology,a house and three children.
“Liar—....he said after a while.
Kira opened her mouth to explain but Mr wellington voice suddenly sounded from behind the door.
“Edward?”
Footsteps echoed from the sitting room, heavy and slow coming towards the lobby door.
It was both Mr. Wellington and Grandpa Dickens.
Edward’s jaw tightened. In one second, he released her, stepping back, his hand dropping from the wall. He fixed his suit like nothing happened.
Kira adjusted herself quickly and got herself out the wall.
The door opened.
Mr. Wellington came out first, Grandpa Dickens right behind him, both talking in low voices.
Edward immediately bowed his head slightly respectful, despite his rage.
“Grandpa Dickens.”
Grandpa Dickens looked at him, his old face stern but kind. He nodded.
“Edward. Good to see you, son. Hope you are well.”
Edward forced a nod. “Yes, sir.”
Grandpa Dickens turned to Kira, who was still by the wall.
“Kira, we’re leaving.”
Kira didn’t look at Edward again. She quickly walked to her grandfather, holding his arm, and they left together through the giant front doors. The black Range Rover was already waiting.
Silence fell in the marble lobby.
Then Edward turned.
Slowly and dangerously.
“Grandpa.”
Mr. Wellington didn’t answer. He just kept walking back into the sitting room, his hands behind his back.
Edward followed him inside.
“You can’t do this, Grandpa,” Edward said, his voice low, trying to control it. “You can’t force me to marry her. I don't even have the slightest intimate relationship with her.At the hotel — it was a mistake.....I even think she might have set me ......... —”
Mr. Wellington picked up his whisky glass and cut him off.
“I gave instructions of no questions at the press conference, Edward. That applies to you too.”
“Grandpa, listen to me —”
“NO. YOU LISTEN TO ME.”
Mr. Wellington’s voice suddenly turned to ice. He slammed the glass down on the table that the maids outside flinched on hearing it.
“You think this is about you? About your feelings? This is about the Wellington's name. About the company I built with my bare hands for fifty years.”
He stepped closer to Edward, his eyes cold.
“Because of your little hotel stunt last night, we lost fifty million pounds before breakfast. Fifty million. Our partners in Dubai called me this morning to cancel. Cancel, Edward!”
Edward’s fists clenched. “So is marrying me off to kira suddenly the solution to our problem??l?”
“If I have to!” Mr. Wellington shouted. Because you should have known better than to cause a scandal. You off all people should know the consequences of this kind of scandal and know better to avoid it.But since you caused such for yourself, you will marry Kira Dickens on Saturday. You will smile for the cameras. You will give them their fairy-tale and you will be her husband.”Mr wellington stated almost running out of breathe.
He took a deep breath and leaned in, his voice a threat now, low and deadly.
“Defy me on this, Edward, and I will freeze every account you have. Your cars, your penthouse in Chelsea, your shares in the company — everything. You will be Edward Wellington in name only. ”Do you understand?
*WELLINGTON GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS, 8:45PMThe glass doors slammed open.Edward Wellington walked out.He was on black suit, his tie was loosed and his coat was draped over his arm. His face was like ice. Every staff in the lobby stood up straight when they saw him.His assistant Simon ran behind him in his usual grey suit, holding an iPad, out of breath as always."Mr. Wellington! Sir!"Edward didn't stop. His long legs ate the marble floor. He pressed the private elevator button.Simon caught up, swiping his iPad."Sir, there a new updates. The china investors — they agreed to 3% increase. The contract has been sent. The board meeting minutes from this morning have been uploaded.Your father sent......."Skip," Edward said coldly."Yes sir." Simon swiped."Miss Zaina reached out to me,her flight was delayed, but she would be here by Tuesday in time for the shoot on Wednesday.Simon said."Make sure everything is ready by then,so when she comes the shoot will commence immediately.Edwards sai
Kira had barely stepped out of the Wellington's company glass doors ,when her phone rang loudly. It was a familiar number.Miss kimMiss kim was the head servant of the Dickens family house.Kira picked up, "Miss kim?"Oh young miss," the woman's voice was hushed, "Where are you? Your Grandfather... they took him to the hospital yesterday night. His chest. He said he couldn't breathe. They just bought him back now,He said don't call you, don't disturb you but I couldn't just ignore the fact that you need to know.Kira's hand tightened around her phone."I will be right there".she said.Thank you miss kim.She said and ended the call. The cab stopped in front of the dickens mansion, kira got down and headed for the front doors. It was not flashy like Wellington's mansion. The wellington's mansion was more grand while the Dickens Manor was old money that had decided to become a home.A three-storey Georgian house hidden behind tall oaks, the walls were covered in ivy, the front garden
The Wellington Company building was not just a building, It was a statement.Forty floors of blue-black glass that reflected the London sky, so tall that when you stood at the bottom and looked up, your neck ached. The logo — a golden W — sat at the very top like a crown. Men in black suits moved in and out like ants. Expensive cars stopped and left. Every inch of it whispered money and power that didn't need to shout.Kira stood at the foot of it, on the pavement, looking up.As instructed last night by mr wellington, she was early at the company.Thinking about last night, she seethed with anger. She had gotten home late last night, and because the pharmacy had closed down at that time, she had had to massage the purple swelling and apply white ointment on her leg herself.Today it still throbbed, but the swelling had gone down enough to hide. She would not limp. Not today.Kira had spent an hour choosing what to wear and ended up choosing an all white outfit. From head to toe,she was scream
For a long time she just stood there.Maybe ten seconds. Maybe a minute. Her eyes fixed on the bend where his car had disappeared, her heart beating so loud she could hear it. _He'll come back._He had to come back. He was angry, yes, but he wasn't a monster. No one leaves a woman alone on a deserted road at night.A car passed in the distance, its light flashing over her. It didn't stop.Another minute passed. He didn't come back.Kira pressed her nails into her palms in utter disappiontment. She sucked in a breath, and her lips dropped sadly. She looked down at her heels. Useless, stupid things. She bent and pulled them off, one by one. The cold ground was wet and rough under her bare feet, but it was better than the heels. She started walking. Or rather, leaping.Sharp pain was lacing through her right ankle with every step she took. She had to hop on her good foot, clutching her heels and her small clutch bag in one hand, the other pressed to her white dress. Her ankle was throb
The car didn't slow down even after they left the estate,The weather had become gloomy and clouds have started gathering. It was signs of an impending rain.Kira stared outside, trying to make herself as small as possible in the passenger seat. She had instinctively grabbed the edge of the seat because the car was moving so fast. The city lights blurred past the window and the car was very silent, you could even hear a pin drop.It was Edwards who broke the silence."20%," he said, his voice low and cold. "Do you even know what 20% of Wellington Group means?"Kira didn't answer. He laughed, but there was no humor in it. "Of course you do. You must have done your research."She turned to him. "What?""Don't play dumb, Kira." His eyes never left the road, his grip tightening on the wheel. "It was quite a performance back there. Pretending to refuse the offer, when that was probably what you planned.Kira's chest tightened. "I wasn't performing .""Really? So you just accidentally ende
---The pure white dress was instantly stained a bloody, ugly red.Kira gasped. She just sat there frozen. Her mouth was slightly open, her hands still in the air. The cold wine was dripping down the ruined fabric, pooling at her feet. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't even blink.Everyone turned to stare at Eliza.Eliza sighed loudly,She picked up her napkin and dabbed at the edge of the table, completely unbothered."Oh please, why is everyone acting like I committed murder?" she said nonchalantly, rolling her eyes. "It was a mistake, everybody saw it. My elbow hit it. It tumbled. I didn't mean it. These things happen all the time, like she didn't have to sit in front of me.....She flicked her hand in Kira's direction, dismissive."It's just a dress. She can get another one,now that she's so rich with shares."Kira's lips trembled.Grandpa's cane slammed against the floor, loud and angry. BANG!"ELIZA!" he roared, his old face red with rage. "Have you gone completely mad?! Apologize
