CHAPTER 21

At eight o'clock, they reached the dark alley. Maria and James are in a hurry because they will be caught by a vagrant in their barangay.

When Maria turned the doorknob, she was surprised because the door was not locked. He quickly entered their residence and saw that nothing had changed. He also looked at the piggy bank under the bed and it was still there with the titles of their land and business in Ilo-Ilo.

Maria just helped James in the shower until his brother was put to bed. Later, he entered the bathroom to take a shower.

He is young and his body is gradually taking shape. He was always mistaken for older than his age because of the physique and height he got from his father.

When Maria came out of their toilet. He sat next to James and began to read the notebook. He collected novels and poems for his parents.

He kept turning the page until he saw the photo of their family. Maria's tears flowed as she covered her mouth.
