8 - The Alpha's makes naughty promises

SOFIA

I stared at the incubus. He couldn’t be serious.

“You want me to give you a few years of my life in exchange for your protection, is that what you’re saying?”

“I will give you my protection in exchange for sex. If you want to escape this prison, that comes with a higher price which is a few years of your life.”

“Define few years.”

Incubuses couldn’t be trusted, and especially not sweet-talking, good-looking ones like Brax.

“A hundred years.”

I snorted. “That’s a few?”

He smiled, “You’re immortal. What does it matter if it’s hundred or a hundred and fifty?”

“Why should I trust you? For all I know, you could be lying to me. Your kind is not particularly famous for being honest. This might be your ploy into stealing some of my years.”

“I could have cheated you out of it but I didn’t because I’m looking for teamwork. The other males here, they need slaves. You’ll have all the freedom you want with me, Sofia.” He stared straight into my eyes, his gaze unwavering.

“If you can escape prison so easily, why are you still here right now?”

“Observing. There are only a few routes to escape from here and I’m at the planning stage. I’ll get out of here, with or without you but I wanted to give you a fair chance. Think about it. You and I. We’re different than the savage creatures here, don’t you agree?”

I’d planned to blow him off the minute he’d sat down but he’d managed to change my mind.

He seemed better than the Alpha.

Brax was honest, I couldn’t sense any deceit in his offer. It would be teamwork, give and take. He would give me protection for sleeping with him, include me in his plan of escape in exchange for a few years of my life. It wasn’t a bad offer.

Alpha Maverick on the other hand seemed like a different beast altogether. He had that intense look that sent chills down my body. He looked at me like he wanted to fuck me and eat me in equal measures. Those golden eyes did something explicable to me that none of them had.

To think a werewolf was having that effect on me. If my father knew that, he’d bury me into the ground.

“So, what’s your decision?” Brax’s calm voice distracted me from my thoughts.

“I’ll think about it.”

“You do that.” He said, “I can wait only for three days. After that, the offer goes to someone else.”

I nodded. “I understand.”

Brax stood up and walked away from my table. I saw him join a group of other demons; a fallen Angel was part of their group. Three boys, all of them dark-haired and extremely gorgeous, almost carved out of stone or painted by a Pro artist. In the human world, I could imagine Brax being signed by some top modeling agency and his face plastered all over the billboards. He caught my eye, and waved, passing me a dimple kissed smile.

Ugh.

Contrary to Brax, Alpha Maverick was a complete opposite. He didn’t waste time in being nice, he was an animal down to his bones.

I now had two candidates who were offering me their protection.

None of which I planned on taking on.

Too bad for the boys.

Half a cup of animal blood wasn’t enough to keep me sane. I was starting to have flashes and a sudden urge to either rip someone to shreds or destroy everything in my surroundings.

The prison had small steel boxes installed on the walls that sprayed some kind of toxins. I’d been confused about it first but later on, I realized those were here to keep our powers diminished. I wasn’t sure how far it was useful, but I also couldn’t see any blatant use of powers so it was safe to assume that it worked to some degree.

Sluggishly, I dragged my ass to the cell where I slept on the hard stone for a while, going over my life decisions again, wondering if I’d made a mistake, wondering how I could fix this. Tears rolled down my eyes as I recalled the last interaction I had with my father. Lack of food in a Vampire’s system can make us emotional.

I didn’t want to die with regrets but this place did not guarantee anything. I could live through this or not make it. I tried to show everyone that I was strong because that worked for my sanity. Inside I was just like anyone else.

A loud thumping of the steel bars on my cell brought me out of my thoughts.

It was Harley, Minion of Maverick. He was pushing a trolley which came to a halt in front of the bars. He dropped something into my cell in a carefully wrapped up cloth.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“Extra napkins.” He said loudly for everyone to hear.

I picked up what lay on the floor. Inside the small towel was a human blood bag and a pocket knife.

“What’s this for?”

“A little piece offering from the Alpha.”

“Aw, I guess chivalry is not dead.” I teased him, “I don’t want anything from him.” I tossed it aside.

“You should feel lucky that he’s taken an interest in you.” He said with utmost disgust like the thought of having a conversation with me was soiling him. “He genuinely feels bad about stealing your clothes the other day.”

“Let me guess. He wants some favors in exchange for the food he is providing me. No, thanks. I’d rather die of starvation.”

Harley looked irritated, “Do whatever the fuck you want.” He curled his fingers around the bars as he seethed, “If you’re smart, you’ll keep the knife and if you want to survive here, you will be friendly with the Alpha.”

“Why should I be? He doesn’t own me.”

He smirked, “as much as I hate you, Vamp girl, the Alpha gets whatever he wants and if he says he wants you, he’ll find a way to have you. Trust me on this.”

I raised both my middle fingers slowly.

“If I were you, I’d sign that Prison Protection program and put the Alpha’s name in the preference box.”

“That’s never happening.”

I ended up feeding on the Blood bag and hiding the pocket knife in my undies.

I needed my strength and the bag was lying on the hard cold floor, calling to me. It would go to waste anyway. I’d snapped and sunk my teeth into it and sucked about half of it. I kept the other half for later.

The next day, there was another full bag on my lunch table all thanks to the Alpha but as much as the prospect of taking food from him was tempting, I knew he was doing this so I could be under his debt and come crawling to him and grant favors.

I didn’t touch the bag and spent the lunch ignoring the lusty looks from the creatures who were trying their luck with me.

Maverick had spent the entire lunch staring at me like I was his fucking kindergarten school crush. I guess the mating game was going on in full force. His pack members, Harley and Miles were saying something to him. I could only guess what that was. I tried my best to listen to their conversation.

‘Do you want me to talk to her, Alpha?’

‘Just say the word.’

‘She’s one crazy stubborn vampire but I’ll convince her for you. She thinks she’s superior to us but she’s wrong.’

I rolled my eyes. I didn’t think I was superior to werewolves or anything. It was safe to say that our races never got along with each other and the fact that Maverick was so full of himself was the icing on the cake.

During the evening, I was given cleaning duty. I mopped the bathroom floor that was covered in grime. No matter how many times I scrubbed it, the dirt wasn’t coming off.

A large male entered the bathroom and stood against the wall.

I didn’t need to look at him to know it was the Wolf.

“What would it take for you to be mine?”

“Nothing.”

He chuckled, “That’s even better. I don’t have to try hard.”

“I meant, nothing’s going to convince me to be yours.”

“Come on, Sofia. I’m being really nice, right? I even gave you a weapon for your safety.”

I continued to ignore him.

“Do you perhaps like the incubus better?”

“I don’t like anybody.”

“He’s not a good match for you.”

“And you are?”

He nodded, “Of course I am. I am better than everybody here. The demon is not trustworthy, but a werewolf always keeps his word and when I say that I’ll protect you with my life, I mean it.”

“I’m flattered by your attentions, your highness Alpha—”

“Just Maverick for you.”

“Listen here you—”

I turned fully to look at him, ready to give him a piece of my mind but instead, the words were knocked out of me as he stood so close, the expanse of bronze skin of his chest was literally in my face, making me sweat profusely.

“I—I…”

He put his finger on my chin and lifted it to look into his golden-brown eyes. He wore a relaxed expression on his face. “Give me one chance. I only wish to become your protector.”

The feel of his calloused fingers over my skin did something to me. I didn’t want to feel anything, not for a werewolf of all creatures.

“Sofia,” he said tenderly.

“Werewolves are brute creatures. I don’t want to be under the protection of some violent man.”

He stepped even closer, bridging the gap between us. I brought the mop in front of me, “Don’t!”

“I’m not going to hurt you.” He put his thick arms on both sides of me, trapping me between them, and brought his mouth close to my ear, his soft curls brushed against my neck making goosebumps rise over my skin. And then he said some really filthy things that confused the hell out of my body.

“The only time I will get violent is when I’m inside you,” his voice was gravel thick, “hitting that sweet spot turning you inside out. You won’t ask me to stop, you would want me to go on. Know what happens after that?”

My vision turned blurry because I think the Alpha was screwing with my head, turning me into a horny vampire which is exactly what I wasn’t.

I should ask him to get lost but instead, I asked, “What?”

His voice dropped another notch. He was having too much fun with this, “I fuck you so deep and so hard that you can’t stop coming and you ask me to keep going. Every inch of your hot cunt is wrapped around my cock…and then you know what I’m going to do?”

His hand dropped to my stomach and then between my legs. “You’re wet for me, aren’t you?” He breathed, “I can smell your arousal…Fuck…”

“Maverick…” I whispered in a mixture of confusion, protest, and seeking release.

I heard heavy footsteps nearing the bathrooms.

Maverick turns alert. “Go hide inside.”

For a second, I was confused by what he meant. “What?”

“You’re aroused because of me. I can’t have other creatures sniffing around you.” His golden eyes that were soft just a moment ago turned hard, “Lock yourself in the bathroom. I’ll take care of the rest.” He snatched the mop from my hands.

Color rose on my cheeks but I wasn’t going to stand here and argue with him.

I walked inside a cubical and locked myself inside.

A guard walked in. “I heard a female voice here.”
