Annabelle's POV

He told me he was leaving. Two days. One night. Africa.

I didn’t say anything at first. I just looked at him. Took him in. Tried to see if he was hiding anything. If he had doubts. Fear. Danger.

“Africa?” I finally whispered.

“Yes,” he said.

“For work?” I asked.

“For people,” he said.

I nodded slowly. Tried to keep my face neutral. I tried to make it look easy. But my chest tightened anyway.

“Two days. One night,” I said again, almost to myself. Almost like saying it out loud would make it real.

“I’ll be back before you feel it,” he said.

I wanted to believe him. I had to.

I stepped closer. Just enough to feel him there, but not enough to stop him. Just enough to hold some part of him with me.

“You always say it like it’s nothing,” I said softly. “But I know you.”

I watched his eyes. His face. His hands. Every gesture. I saw him, steady, controlled. But I knew him too well. I knew the weight he carried even when he smiled.

“I’ll come back,” he said.

I studied him. Sear

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Thirteen  Begun Plotting The Consequences

Lorenzo’s POVMarta screamed high, wild, and unrestrained. Her body arched beneath me, aggressively, hands clawing at the sheets, hair tangled across her shoulders. My chest heaved. My blood thundered in my heavy cock. The air was thick with heat, sweat, and the sweet but sharp tang of sex.She collapsed against me for a moment, gasping, trembling, still screaming little fragments of sound, and I held her in place, not gentle, not soft, not cruel, just present. The room spun in the aftershock of what had just happened. Finally, I pulled back slightly, brushing strands of hair from her face. Her eyes met mine, wide, alive, raw, still half-lost in whatever storm had passed over her. I can understand the storm she'd just come out of, because I know I'm aggressive in bed. For me, sex without aggression laced in it is no sex at all. That's how I enjoy it."You said 2,500 euros right?" I asked. She hissed silently, wrapping herself with the white sheet. "Yes. You can raise it if you don't

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Twelve  Christmas Gone Sour While Waiting

Annabelle's POVI stayed standing after the Christmas tree was done. Not because I didn’t know what to do next, but because stillness felt earned. The lights blinked softly, patient, as if they had learned how to wait. Pine clung to the air, mixed with candle wax and something warmer…intention, maybe. I folded my hands loosely and let myself breathe. It felt right. That was the word that kept returning. Not beautiful. Not impressive. Right.I didn’t add anything else.Patty Mama was watching me from the edge of the sitting room. I had felt her before I saw her. It's only a few times that I've seen her react to things that way. Quiet presence, never interrupting a moment, only witnessing it.“You’re done,” she said.“Yes,” I answered, turning toward h

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Eleven  When Police Intimidation Dresses As Neutrality.

Antonioni's POVI had always known arrest was a language. Not the shouting kind. Not the kind of people who perform for cameras. Real arrest, the kind meant for men like me, was quiet, procedural, and designed to begin dismantling you before you were even aware the process had started.Naples disappeared behind tinted glass. My men, too, must have been back in the park by now. The news of my arrest would have probably spread to the world. Or maybe not yet. This particular arrest… No sirens. No spectacle. Just movement. Coordinated. Efficient. Foreign.I watched the city the way a general watches terrain after surrendering ground, not with nostalgia, not with regret, but with calculation. This was not fear. This was an assessment. I was already measuring timelines, jurisdictions, and treaties, the way one measures distances on a map before a campaign fin

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Ten Christmas Came to Arrest

Antonioni's POV Christmas in my house did not announce itself. It did not sing. It did not plead for attention. It existed the way order exists—quietly, thoroughly, and without apology.I returned from the early briefing before dawn. The park was awake in the way disciplined places are awake: staff moving softly, guards alert but unhurried, systems humming beneath calm. Annabelle had not turned the house into a spectacle. She had turned it into ian ntention. The tree stood tall in the main sitting room. Not just decorative, but also commanding. Pine scent lingered in the air, layered with the faint trace of candle wax and spice. Lights glowed low, not festive, but warm enough to suggest belonging. The furniture had shifted subtly, not rearranged, but softened. Space invited presence without demanding it.This was Christmas under control.I stood there for a moment longer than necessary, absorbing what she had done without ever announcing hmyself The house did not feel decorated. It f

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Nine The House She Made Me Soft In

Antonioni’s POV I stayed in the private lounge long before anyone arrived. Just me. Alone. No one was expected yet. The quiet of the house allowed my thoughts to stretch without interruption, and I let them wander.I tapped a few keys and arranged a small transfer to Annabelle's newly given bank account, not large, but enough to remind her that the resources were hers to determine what to buy and what to forfeit. Discipline.Milo had been scheduled to check in later, and I wasn’t waiting for him. Not really. I simply wanted the calm. To think. To breathe. To feel Christmas approaching without obligation pressing against it.Eventually, I brought up the feed from the house. Annabelle had already begun her work. I watched her on the monitors, moving deliberately through rooms, checking the furniture, placing decorations with precision. Every movement was careful, considered. She didn’t rush. She didn’t fumble. She simply did.Martinez sat quietly nearby, a shadow of calm judgment. I di

  • Shadows of the Vow   Chapter One Hundred and Eight  Christmas Eve In The Dome

Annabelle’s POV The early morning call came before the room fully remembered itself.I didn’t hear the phone ring at first. Not consciously. What woke me was the shift in the air. The way silence tightens before it breaks. I had learned that long ago: stillness announces disturbance before sound ever does. Then the vibration came.Once.Again.I did not open my eyes immediately. I knew better than that. In this house, awareness mattered more than reaction. So I stayed still, breathing even, listening without looking.China.I didn’t need to see the screen to know that. When he answered, his voice was low. Controlled. The way men speak when they are already ahead of what is coming.“Yes.”I kept my breathing slow. The other voice was sharper. Foreign cadence. Professional urgency is held on a short leash.“Sir. Zhuhai warehouse. There’s movement we didn’t anticipate. I’ve sent you the reports.”“I’ll review them,” Antonioni said calmly. “Hold position.”The call ended.I waited. Count
