5. Falling For Him

"Why did you take me here? Aren't we going to the Dark Moon Pack?" When Lauren looked outside from the car and found a lavish house in front of her which was located in the same city as her, not in the area of Dark Moon Pack she could not stop herself from asking.

"Alpha told me to bring you here and I'm just following his order. If you have any questions talk to Beta Rhys. He's waiting for you inside." Saying that the Driver got out of the car and started to take out her belongings out of the trunk. After pulling them out he opened the car door for her and asked her to follow him. 

Lauren passed the large gate and then walked through the pathway where there was a beautiful garden on each side. She was looking around her like a child. Her eyes were glowing looking at everything.  The driver pushed the big front door and soon the beautiful lavish house was displayed in front of her. 

Lauren was mesmerized by the beauty of the house and started to look around like a curious child. She was so immersed that she didn't even notice someone's presence in the room other than her. She realized only then when the person cleared his throat to get her attention.  

Lauren immediately snapped her head in the direction from where the sound came and found a well-built handsome man standing in front of her. At first, she was startled seeing him but then realized he was the Beta Rhys. 

"Hello, nice to meet you, Lauren." Rhys greeted her warmly with a small smile while reaching out his hand to her which made Lauren a little comfortable around him. Though he looks dangerous and powerful, his friendly behavior made her relieved.  

"Nice meeting you, Beta Rhys." Lauren accepted his hand with a warm smile and Rhys raised his brows in amazement. 

"Whoa! How do you know my name? Am I that famous in the werewolf world?" Lauren chuckled hearing his words. 

"No, it's nothing like that. The driver just told me about you in the car. That's why I know your name. By the way, I was banished from the Werewolf World five years ago so I don't know much about their affairs. I only heard about Alpha Jaxon because her banished pack member lives with me." Saying that she gave a small smile. 

"Oh, I feel bad for you," Rhys said with genuine concern. 

"You don't have to. I'm happy in my life." Lauren said looking down as she was quite nervous about the pregnancy. 

"That's great. Ummm….. I think you are nervous." Rhys sensed her nervousness as she was continuously chewing her bottom lip while looking down.

Hearing his words Lauren looked up instantly thinking how he sensed her nervousness. 

"How did you sense it?" She asked him with her wide eyes and Rhys laughed a little. 

"It's clearly visible on your face. Anyone can tell that you are nervous." Lauren looked down embarrassed. And then looked up at him.

"I'm trying hard to hide it but I think I'm unable to." Lauren said with an embarrassed smile while pushing a hair strand behind her ear, looking down. She looked adorable while doing that which made Rhys' heart skip a beat. And he silently kept looking at her. But when Lauren looked up at him he felt embarrassed for doing that.

Rhys mentally shook his head. "Rhys, what's wrong with you? Why are you looking at her like that? Have you lost your mind? Get a hold of yourself." Rhys scolded himself in his mind. 

Lauren was looking at him confused. Because Rhys was standing there lost in his thoughts. 

"Beta Rhys, are you alright?" Lauren asked him while placing her hand on his arm and he jumped back away from her touch as if her hand burned him. His action made Lauren more confused than before. 

"I'm fine. I'm fine." Rhys said, looking away, making Lauren frown.

"Are you sure about that? It seems like you are not feeling well. If you are feeling unwell you can go and take some rest. You don't have to accompany me to the hospital. I can manage. I'm a big girl." Lauren said in a soft tone anRhys'sys heart melted right away seeing her concern for him. 

Though Rhys was the same age as Jaxon, he has not found his mate yet. He was the only unmated person in his thirties in the Dark Moon Pack other than Jaxon. He has already left his hope to find a mate in this life. So he started to date different girls. But when he saw Lauren he felt something in his heart for her. 

"No, I'm perfectly fine. It's just that you are way too beautiful." Lauren's cheeks turned beetroot red at his words.  She looked down shyly while biting her bottom lip. 

"Please don't do that, otherwise it will be difficult for me to hold myself from kissing you hard." His bold words made her look at him with wide eyes. And when her eyes locked with him she felt his intense eyes boring into her soul. She immediately looks away from his intense gaze nervously. 

"Ummm…. I'll be right back after freshening up." Saying that she ran upstairs where she saw the driver going with her luggage. She never thought in her dream that she would encounter such a situation here. She reminded herself that she was here for some reason not to fall for any guy. Though in five years no one could pursue her and melt her heart, only Jaxon and Rhys had the charm to get her to her knees.

Rhys accompanied her to the hospital and they came back after completing the insemination. The doctor told them to come after ten days to check if it worked or not. Lauren looked worried about the result but not Rhys. Because he was certain that she would conceive the baby. That's why they choose her. When they got home Jaxon was already at home waiting for them in the living area. As Jaxon was already there so Rhys left from there as he didn't want to let his best friend know he was into his surrogate. 

It was 11 at night when Jaxon decided to leave after finishing his office work in his study room. Lauren was munching chips while watching a movie on the TV.  She noticed him walking out of his study room. Her face immediately lit up seeing him. But her beaming face converted into a gloomy one when she saw him walking towards the main door. He was leaving without saying anything to her which made her amazed. 

"Are you leaving?" Lauren stood up abruptly and asked Jaxon who was leaving the house silently as if she was invisible to him. 

Jaxon's step halted in the air and he turned around to meet her dark chocolate brown orbs which were looking firmly at him. 

"Of course. I'm heading back home. What made you think that I'll stay over here?" Jaxon answered her and then asked her at last, staring at her in a way that made her uncomfortable. 

Lauren gulped down hard and took some steps forward at him. And there Jaxon was standing gorgeously while shoving his hands in his pockets. 

"I think you are forgetting Mr. Knight that I'm the surrogate mother of your child," Lauren said, poking her forefinger in his chest stating her mind. 

"How can you leave me alone in this big house of yours? Are you not afraid of something that might happen to me? What if I die out of fear?" She raised her brow questioning him while his face was still emotionless. 

"Are you done?" He asked her and she nodded her head cutely looking at him with her puppy eyes. 

She was afraid of the dark and staying alone in a place. That's why she was freaking out when she came to know that she was going to stay in the big mansion all alone. Only two staff members were there who lived in the quarter. 

"Staff are here 24/7, and there is tight security outside of the mansion. There is no way someone would trespass into the mansion to harm you." Jaxon said sternly. And Lauren let out a frustrated grown. 

"You are not getting me, Mr. Knight. I'm afraid of the darkness. And I can't live alone, I might get a panic attack if you left me here all alone." Lauren said in one breath and Jaxon kept looking at her stunned. He never imagined her to be so scared. Because she was clutching his shirt. 

"Then what do you want me to do? You want me to stay with you." Jaxon asked her and she nodded her head sheepishly. Which made his eyes go wide in shock. He never thought that she would say something like that.

"You don't know what you are asking." Jaxon leaned down to her ear and whispered in her ear which made her shiver. 

"You are seeking death." His deadly dangerous voice sends a shiver down her spine. She was scared of him but not in a negative way. Jaxon pulled away to see her reaction but to his surprise she wasn't looking scared instead she was looking calm. 

Lauren shook her head, "No, you are wrong. I feel safe around you." Her words stunned Jaxon. 

"Don't regret it later." Saying that he scooped her in his arms carrying her to her room making her gasp in shock. 

"Did I get myself into trouble?" She asked herself looking into his eyes who was looking ahead carrying her in his arms.
