38. SIN

I pulled the blanket over Bella and took a step back as I stared down at her. She was sleeping, but she still looked sad. Reaching out, I gently tugged the blanket under her chin and then moved a few strands of hair from her face.

My eyes darted to the alpha who stood in the kitchen.

Michel told me that David was going to stay with us until they get back. He didn’t tell me where they were going, only that they would be back soon.

The alpha made me nervous even though he had been keeping his distance from me since he got here. I liked his smell, though.

I sucked in a breath when he suddenly glanced up, catching my eyes. He stared at me for a few seconds and then dropped his attention to whatever he was doing.

Biting my lip, I glanced down at Bella one last time and then slowly made my way towards him. His movements paused but then continued. It was like he was completely ignoring me as I approached and to be honest, I didn’t know how it made me feel.
