Larissa Maynard
~•~I held my breath as Alesia zipped up my dress. It was way tighter than it needed to be but I had to go down in two minutes so there was no time to change it. Even if there was, my future mother-in-law wouldn’t want me to change the dress. She had picked it herself and she also paid for it, as an engagement gift.I was certain she knew it was a size too small because she was unnecessarily obsessed with my size. As though I wasn’t thin enough, she wanted me to lose more weight. I’d be damned before putting my wedding dress in her hands. Finally exhaling when it was all done, I turned around to smile at Alesia. “Thank you.”Her eyes ran across my body as though looking for something out of place. I was putting on a red strapless dress with a white beaded necklace and matching earrings. My hair was in a complicated updo that had been done by the hair stylist and my makeup was done perfectly by a professional. I was more than ready to face the millions of guests already in the hall. She returned the smile when she didn’t have anything else to complain about. “You need a smile to complete the look.”Most people said I had a resting bitch face and it was true. If I was walking alone on the road, I never looked approachable and I couldn’t help it.I forced out a chuckle. I was not into the idea of throwing an engagement party, but my parents thought otherwise. I was certain my wedding ceremony would be just as huge and I didn’t want that. I wanted a small wedding with family and close friends, nothing more.My parents were making a big deal out of this. It was just a marriage for fuck’s sake.“Try to pretend you’re happy to be here.” She smiled sarcastically before she left the room.My smile dropped immediately after she left. I didn’t like Alesia that much. She never did anything bad to me but she always made it seem like her brother was doing me a favor by getting married to me. If anything, it was the opposite. Getting married to Alexander would do his business a lot of good but I never thought about rubbing it in his face.As she left, the door opened again and my brother poked his head through. A real smile finally spread across my face.“I always knew you’d get married before me, but I didn’t expect it anymore after…” he trailed off, not daring to mention his name.I didn’t even want to think about him. It had been five years since I last saw him but I could remember the details of his face vividly. I hated the fact that my thoughts still strayed to him sometimes, but I had moved on from him. I am a fully grown adult now. I had a boyfriend, now a fiancé, and a soon-to-be husband. I was doing just fine without him.“It’s his loss anyway.” Luke walked toward me. “He missed out big time.”He did. He really did.“Shall we?”I nodded and put my hand through my brother’s own as he led me out the door. I didn’t get to see my brother a lot as he was always away on business trips. He was only thirty but he was already a workaholic just like my father.Since they were making a big deal about our engagement, it was supposed to be my father bringing me down to meet my fiancé as though we were already the bride and groom, but I strongly opposed it. If anyone was going to bring me down to meet anyone, it was going to be my brother. He was literally my best friend.I didn’t have many friends and I even had less friends who genuinely gave a shit about me. I’d learned the hard way that we were all alone in this world, especially when we were involved in the business world, but my brother was always there for me.I took a deep breath as we descended the stairs that led us to the hall where the guests were already waiting. Alexander was waiting at the foot of the stairs where Luke handed me to him.Alex placed a kiss on my cheek before putting his hand around my waist. I clung onto his arm as we stepped into the hall, bringing all the focus to us.“And here, we have our future bride and groom,” the MC announced and some kind of stage light shone on us. It made me uncomfortable but I tried to ignore it, putting on my best smile for show. “We are gathered here to celebrate the union of Alexander Theodore and Larissa Maynard.” The man laughed after that sentence like anything was funny. “My bad, that sounded like it was their wedding.”The crowd laughed – I still didn’t get what was so funny – as they all looked at us.Noticing I was uncomfortable with all the stares, Alexander leaned in. “Are you okay?”I realized my smile had dropped and I quickly put it back in place. “I’m fine.” If I said I wasn’t, he was not going to do anything about it anyway. There was no point in telling him the truth.I zoned out on the MC as he went on about irrelevant things. I was only brought back to reality when we had to make a toast. Alexander and I went on the makeshift stage and after Alex gave some kind of opening speech, I smiled accordingly, staying beside him because apparently, that was my role.Since I was not going to be saying anything, I had no reason to go up there with him but the planners of this party had different ideas from mine. They said it’d show our strength as a couple as though we could fight off enemies by opening our mouths to give a few speeches.Fuck, I was so done with this party and it hadn’t even properly started.Larissa Maynard ~•~As soon as I woke up the next morning, Caspian was up and ready to take me home.I told him we could do it after work, which was why I was currently waiting for him to come get me. I finished work pretty early today and while Caspian’s home was amazing, I was happy to be out of the house.I heard a knock on my door before it was pushed open. “Do you still have more work to do?” My new assistant asked. Well, he’d been working alone for almost a month and I shouldn’t be calling him new but I still missed Ava.I shook my head. “I’m done here. You can go home. I’m just waiting for someone.”“Are you sure?”Another thing about him was that he was eager to work. “Yes, see you tomorrow.”“Alright, ma’am.” He nodded before he turned on his back and left.As soon as he did, I got a call from Caspian and my face immediately broke into a smile as I picked up the call. “I’m downstairs.” He said as soon as I brought it up to my ear.“I’m on my way,” I told him and hung up. I’d
Larissa Maynard~•~I got back from work pretty late and as soon as I entered Caspian’s room, I saw the suitcase I’d come with, along with another smaller traveling bag that contained the things I’d bought while staying with him when I opened to look.A frown automatically marred my face as I wondered where the hell Caspian was and why he packed my things. Sure I’d told him I wanted to move out but he was the one delaying it. Had he finally realized he was tired of me?I’d wanted to wash up and go straight to bed but I kept my bag on the bed and went downstairs. I didn’t even know if he was at home, but if he was, he was either at the gym or his office.I decided to check his office first. When I got there, he wasn’t in, but Antonio was.“Larissa!” He exclaimed as I pushed the door open. He was sitting behind the desk, twirling the chair. I let out a small laugh, knowing Caspian was going to complain about it if he saw his younger brother on his chair. “We live in the same house but it
Larissa Maynard~•~Despite what Caspian said, he didn’t let me move out just yet. He told me to give him a week and then, he could let me leave. I’d asked him the reason, but he didn’t say.I was nervous as we stood in front of my parents’ house. It was the first time I was ringing the doorbell because I brought Caspian with me.They’d met him back when we were younger. I just didn’t know if they would still like him or not. The time they met, he was still a senior in college so they didn’t have much expectations for him.“I can feel your anxiety rolling off you in waves.” Caspian casually commented as he intertwined his hand with mine. “How are you more nervous than me? We’re visiting your parents whom you grew up with.”He was right. I had no reason to be nervous but being nervous anyway reminded me how much I liked Caspian. I was tiptoeing around the word, love, knowing damn well that was what I felt for him, but I knew that if I admitted it to myself, there was no going back.We
Caspian Bianchi~•~I had the strongest urge to call a truce with Dario Wellman just so Larissa could be safe. But then, I thought of how he killed my father, how he ambushed my mafia just for a power trip, how he let his men rape my sister, and how he’d hurt Larissa if I let him roam free.He didn’t deserve to live.A truce wouldn’t mean shit to him so I had to end it once and for all. I didn’t care about the members of his mafia. If they wanted to come after me just because I killed their boss who deserved to die, I didn’t mind. I would deal with whoever dared to put Larissa in danger. Anyone still working with him after what I put out deserved to die anyway. It was very hard convincing Dario to meet with me. He believed it was a trap and he was smart in believing so because I wouldn’t miss any opportunity I got to blow his brains out.I really shouldn’t be thinking of killing a man while I was on a date with my girl but it had to do with her safety. As though Larissa could hear my t
Larissa Maynard ~•~I didn’t know what the fuck was happening. One second, I was leaving the supermarket. Next, two men were attempting to grab me. It was like they didn’t anticipate Aldo behind me or they underestimated him because before they could touch me, he had twisted both of their arms at the same time. Then again, it was their fault for stalling first, trying to talk to me before they attempted to take me.I was shaken up. I wanted to leave but Aldo didn’t want me to leave by myself. He also couldn’t leave the men there in the alley where anyone could walk in and see them, or worse, where they could run away. So he called Caspian and I crouched on the ground to wait.I was absolutely relieved when I heard him call my name and I immediately ran to his arms. “You’re safe.”“I know,” I murmured into his chest. I was always safe when he was around but that didn’t mean the fact that I’d almost gotten kidnapped didn’t scare me.“I promise that this is the last time you’ll face any
Caspian Bianchi~•~The fucker was lousy at his job.It took less than a day for Pedro to follow his tracks and trace his IP address to some abandoned building.I was supposed to take Larissa on a date today since she was tired yesterday, but I figured it was more important to take care of the man who was causing her troubles. I wanted her to live freely without the need for a bodyguard even if she was going to have one for the rest of her life.Pedro and I were going to check out the place, together with another of my men, Vincenzo. Antonio wanted to come with me but there was always the fact that it could be a trap and I didn’t want him to get involved in something messy when he just came back from his trip less than a week ago.“I’ll be going to the supermarket today,” Larissa informed me before we left the house, which was why I left Aldo with her. “I need to top up on some of my finished products.”When we arrived at the location the hacker led us to, we took a look at the house.
