Amanda’s POV

“I’ll see what I can do.” I replied, my eyes still fixed on the undeniable evidence laid out in front of me. “But first, let’s get you out of the castle before anyone figures out who you really are.” I added.

I pushed the chair back, gathered all the evidence and tucked the small bag under my arm while Kattie stood there watching me keenly.

“Thank you so much Amanda, I don’t deserve your help at all.” She whispered.

“Come.” I nodded as I made my way for the door. I pulled it open

Amanda’s POV“Amanda what is this you’re saying to me right now?” Ambrose asked, his eyes twitching as a vein bulged out the side of his neck.I took a step back like it was going to save me from his wrath. “Kattie was not actually dead and she brought me some documents to prove it.” I replied, holding the bag up.His jaw tightened immediately and so did his fists. I took a deep breath, ready for the storm to begin. “So what you’re telling me is that you let a crucial criminal, one that I have been looking for, walk in and out of here like it was nothing?” He asked, his voice low and mirthless.I shook my head while trying my best to keep my voice in check and stay humble. “If you’d just listen to me. Duncan is the criminal and not Kattie!” I cried. “Duncan didn’t kidnap you!” He countered. “I was the one who got kidnapped and not you.” I snapped. I regretted those words as soon as they left my mouth. “Amanda!” He roared. Thor rushed to his side immediately. He doesn’t say a wo

I pulled it open and the guards straightened up. “My Luna.” They bowed in unison. And then I swallowed hard wondering if I could trust their loyalty towards me enough to ask the favor I was about to propose.“My Luna.” They bowed and I nodded at them. “I shall take her back to the pack border.” The younger one said. I quickly placed myself in front of Kattie causing both of them to stare at me with confusion etched on their faces. “About that..” I exhaled. “She won’t be leaving the pack just yet. Take her to

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 47: Talking With the Enemy

Amanda’s POVAmbrose was adamant about me inviting the stranger into my room. Despite my claims that she was an old friend, I was led to an old library while two guards stood at the door in case of an emergency.About ten minutes later, Kattie was led in by Thor. She wore a white threadbare dress and a blue hood that barely let the lights touch her face.“Would you like me to stay here or your privacy is required?” Thor asked, a small smile on his face. I pouted, tipping my head to the side. “What do you think?” I asked, my tone calm.He bowed and walked away after that. Kattie stood as quiet as a lamb. I’m sure Thor could tell something was off as he left. Who would see their old friend and not jump for joy? Thankfully, the door closed shut behind him and Kattie finally took off her hood. My lips parted in shock and my eyes took note of all the impairments in her body. She was almost all bones and no flesh. Her eyes were far into the socket, pale and dark. She looked like she has

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 46: Strange Visit

Amanda’s POVTwo weeks dragged by, two weeks of Ambrose and I taking different routes and paths just to avoid each other. Two weeks of Nyra slowly fitting in and two weeks of my pregnancy finally starting to show. Jane was still around and I’d gotten used to her being here, even after everything she said about taking Ambrose from me.It wasn’t like I even cared if he was mine. But her quietness made me uneasy.I didn’t know her that much but I knew it was unusual for someone who made such a threat to be this quiet.Whatever she was planning, it was big. And I wasn’t going to let it catch me off guard.I got out of bed that morning after feeling the first ray of sunlight flood the room. The air felt fresh and for the first time in a long time, it felt like it was going to be a good day. The door burst open and Nyra walked in with a tray of steaming porridge. “Morning my lady, breakfast is ready.” She announced a warm smile on her face. Her features were a lot more visible now she di

Amanda's POV I stormed out of the throne room after that but as I walked away, a part of me wanted him to come after me. To tell me I was being angry for nothing and at least give me a good reason why Jane has returned. But he didn’t, of course he didn’t. I wasn't that important for him to leave his high and mighty throne to come after me. I walked into my room and dropped into the bed, it wasn’t noon yet but the day already felt so hectic. At least Nyra and Claret were vindicated now.“Poor Nyra, that young girl hasn’t had any rest since she got here.” I muttered, my eyes fixed on the ceiling. Immediately, I heard soft footsteps outside my door. The sound stopped me mid-thought and I waited for whoever it was to come in. My heart jumped into my throat. For half a second I thought it was him. That maybe I wasn’t as unimportant as I’d told myself. But the knock never came.Just the faint rustle of fabric, and then the footsteps moved on, very slowly like whoever it was didn’t wan

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 44: Dungeon

Ambrose’s POV Emily was brought in like the criminal that she was and forced on her knees before Amanda and I. I sat in my throne while Amanda sat on the Luna chair beside me.One thing irked me about the look on the maid’s face. Not innocent, jest. There was no sign of remorse or even fear in her eyes. And to think that I assigned her as Amanda’s personal maid after the other two got arrested. The fact that Amanda could have died because of me and my foolishness. Emily doesn’t know the gravity of what is actually about to happen. I cleared my throat, watching the crowd of maids, servants, betas and omegas flock into my throne room ready to see the scene unfold. “Emily Steinfield!” I called out, making her jump a little but the smug look stayed plastered on her face. She must be ready to die. The crowd silenced immediately as all attention shifted to the sound of my voice. “Are you responsible for attempting to poison the Luna and my unborn pup?” I asked, my voice firm and eyes

Amanda's POV “No! You belong to me!” Duncan yelled, his voice cutting through the air. His eyes were pale, lids barely open, a sign that he was still suffering from the weakness my rejection caused. I sat there, too stunned to speak and too weak to even move. How could the alpha king be my mate? W

Amanda's POV I began to run without needing to be told. With all the men walking toward Duncan’s room, I knew that staying in the pack would be my undoing. Amanda's POV “What did you just say?” Duncan demanded, finally standing from the bed, hastily dressing as if the words I had just spoken had jolted him out of the spell Kattie had wrapped him in. Even Kattie froze, eyes wide in shock. Before, I had always clung to Duncan, never wanting to let him

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 2: I Accept My Rejection

Amanda's POV I walked toward Duncan’s door, determined to meet him. There were so many things I needed to discuss, countless questions I had and I couldn’t simply stay back in my room and listen anymore. I was not going to allow him to get away with this without an actual explanation.“I'm sorry,
