Marcus POV

The emergency council meeting had been going for six hours straight.

Six long Fucking hours.

And we were no closer to a solution than when we had started.

“We need to send scouts to Moonveil,” Alpha knox of shadow hill was saying. Again. For the third time. “Get eyes on the situation. Assess Sylvester’s defenses…”

“And get them all killed, that plan is a waste of time and resources,” Luna Nyx interrupted. “Sylvester will see them coming from miles away. Shadow magic gives him awareness of his entire territory.”

“Then what do you suggest?” knox snapped. “We just sit here with our thumbs up our asses while he completes whatever ritual he’s planning?”

“I suggest we think before we act. Something this council seems incapable of.”

“How dare you…”

“ENOUGH.” Lydia’s voice cut through the argument like a blade. “Both of you. This bickering accomplishes nothing, absolutely nothing.”

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 114 The Ambush

Marcus POVSomething was wrong.I felt it the moment we walked out from the tunnel into the old market district. A crawling sensation between my shoulder blades. The kind of instinct that had kept me alive through countless battles. This was too easy. The passage had been exactly where Keisha said it would be. It was clear and ungraded with no traps. We’d traveled nearly a mile underground without encountering a single obstacle. And now we stood in an abandoned district with empty buildings and a very silent street..Too silent.“This doesn’t feel right,” Lydia whispered beside me.I squeezed her hand, both to acknowledge her concern and to steady her. She was wound tight as a bowstring, every muscle tense, ready to fight or flee.“Stay alert,” I murmured back. “Keep your eyes open.”Kael was ahead of us, moving with single-minded determination despite his obvious weakness. His face

Selene POVI woke to the sound of chains. My eyes flew open in the darkness. The room was pitch black…Sylvester must have spelled the windows to block out even the moonlight.“Hello, my love.”His voice came from directly beside the bed.I jerked upright, my power instinctively flaring…But nothing happened. I reached for my magic again. Pulled deeper. And tried to summon even a spark of Keeper power.Nothing.“What did you do?” My voice came out hoarse. Panicked.“Just a precaution.” I heard him move. I heard something metallic scrape against stone. “You’ve been so defiant lately. So determined to fight me at every turn. I thought it was time we had more… honest conversation.”A light flared. A single candle on the nightstand. In its flickering glow, I saw Sylvester standing beside the bed, holding chains. But they were obviously not ordinary chains. These glowed with a sickly purple light. S

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 112 - The Arrival

Marcus POV“There’s someone at the border asking for you,” the guard said through the mind link. “Her name is Keisha. And that she has urgent information about the Luna.”I dropped the papers I was holding.Keisha.We’d been searching for her for months. Ever since Kael had realized how much Selene missed her and started trying to track her down as a way to make amends. We’d hit dead ends everywhere. It was like she’d vanished off the face of the earth. Even after searching moonshade it was still futile. And now she was just… here?“Bring her to my office,” I said. “I’m on my way.”I found Lydia in the war room and quickly filled her in as we walked.“The friend Selene was separated from?” Lydia’s eyes widened. “The one Kael’s been trying to find?”“The same. He felt guilty about forcing Selene to cut ties with her rogue friends when she first became Luna, and he sold her for her sister Elena.

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 111 Breaking Points

Sera POV The moment Sylvester dismissed us, I headed straight for the quarters I shared with callum. My face throbbed. The bruise was already turning darker. Purple-black spreading across my cheekbone. It wasn’t the first time Sylvester had struck me since his madness. And it wouldn’t be the last. But seeing Selene’s face…the guilt, the horror…had made it worse somehow. I pushed open the door to find callum pacing. The moment he saw me, he froze. “Sera.” His voice was strangled. “Your face.” “It’s fine.” “It’s not fucking fine.” He crossed to me in two strides, his hands hovering near my face but not quite touching. Afraid to hurt me more. “He hit you. Again.” “I knew the risk.” “That doesn’t make it okay!” His eyes blazed with fury. “You can’t keep doing this. Can’t keep putting yourself between Selene and his rage. You’re going to ge

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 110 Withering

Selene POV The food sat in front of me. Untouched. I didn’t even remember what day it was anymore. How long had I been in this room? Three days? Four? Time had lost all meaning in this beautiful cage. The plate was beautifully arranged. Roasted chicken.Vegetables. Fresh bread that still steamed slightly. My stomach growled. Betraying me. But I didn’t move, I didn’t reach for the fork. Didn’t acknowledge the food’s existence. If I ate, I was accepting this. Accepting him. Accepting that this was my life now. So I choose to starve instead. The door opened. I didn’t look up. “You haven’t touched your breakfast.” Sylvester’s voice. Controlled. Carefully pleasant. “Or your lunch yesterday. Or your dinner the night before.” I said nothing. “Selene.” The pleasantness was starting to crack. “You need to eat.” Still nothing.

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 109 - Madness Unmasked

Sylvester POVThe door to my private chambers closed behind me with a satisfying click.Finally.Finally alone. Finally able to drop the mask. The laughter started low. A chuckle that bubbled up from deep in my chest. Then it grew. And grew.Until I was laughing so hard I had to brace myself against the wall. Great, cackling peals of laughter that echoed off the stone walls.“I did it,” I gasped between fits of laughter. “I actually fucking did it.”Five hundred years.Five hundred years of planning. Scheming. Manipulating. Watching her die over and over. Watching Kael steal her away over and over. And now…NOW…she was mine.Trapped in my territory. Marked by my hand. Her blood literally on my fingers from where I’d struck her.I looked down at my right hand. At the faint smear of red still visible across my knuckles. Her blood. My Selene’s b
