When I got back to the pack house, my heart pounded in my chest. Fiona’s room was dimly lit, the air heavy with the scent of disinfectant and faint traces of her lavender shampoo. Zack wasn’t there, maybe he’d stepped out for food or to talk to Liam.

I took a deep breath and walked closer, pulling a chair beside her bed. “Hey, Fi,” I whispered, brushing her hair gently away from her face. “You look like you’re just sleeping… you have to wake up soon, okay? Lily’s been crying her eyes out, and Zack well, you know him. He’s pretending to be strong.”

Nyx’s voice stirred faintly in my head. Are you ready, Maya? You know what Granny said.

“I know,” I murmured quietly. “But what if I mess it up?”

You won’t. Trust yourself. Trust me.

I nodded, closing my eyes and placing my hands over Fiona’s body. I let my energy flow through me, focusing on every breath, every heartbeat. The warmth built up fast,glowing under my palms, soft silver light filling the room.
