AzaleaI didn’t know where I was but where ever it was I felt safe. It wasn’t very bright a pale light illuminating a pathway in front of me. I felt something brush my hand and looked down to see my wolf beside me, her red fur shining and reflecting the little bit of light. How was she here with me? I thought as I ran my hands thru her soft fur, making her purr. I giggled. A wolf purring sounds kinda silly. She made a soft bark before bounding up the path away from me. I followed her quickly, not wanting to be away from her.It wasn’t long before I was in a clearing that was familiar to me. And in the middle, petting my wolf, was the moon goddess. “Am I dead?” I asked sadly as I approached the two. The moon goddess took my hand when I got close and gestured for me to sit, my wolf moving to put her head on my lap once I did.“Not yet my dear. You have a choice, you and your wolf. You did a good thing Azalea, but I know that it weighs heavy on your heart. You can choose, both of you to
Logan It’s been a year now. To the day. Today is her official Luna ceremony and the whole council and all of our friends are here to watch and to celebrate with us. I won’t say it’s been easy, but it’s been worth it. To see the carefree way that she laughs and loves, different than before. It made me almost grateful that she didn’t remember everything and it’s been fun to make new memories with her. Seeing her finally walk down the aisle to me with her father by her side, both of them in tears, took my breath away. She was always beautiful, but today she was exceptionally stunning, stealing my very breath. Patching things up with her father again took longer than anything else. I hadn’t ever really talked much to her about her feelings towards him but he explained to me that she had told him she forgave him and that he needed to forgive himself the day before the war. And he struggled with it more this year as he tried to gain her forgiveness again.. But in the end I think he found
Azalea The SUV bounced down the dark road as I stared out hte window, frowning at the forest around us. I sat in the back, my backpack sitting forgotten on my lap as I contemplated what had gotten me to this point. Just last month I'd been at work waiting tables when my mom called. I shrugged it off at first, firguring she just needed me to pick something up on my way home. But then my mom kept calling. So I finally answered. "What's so important that-" "Run," my mom said, sounding scared and frantic. "Run and don't stop. You know what to do," she said before hanging up. Shit, I thought, wiping my now sweaty palms on my faded and torn jeans. I walked quickly to the front, looking around for my boss. "I quit," I said, handing my apron to him before heading out the door. He called out to me, but I didn't have time to waste. I jumped in my beige Honda Civic and pulled out of the parking lot at top speed. I knew that meant that my father had tracked me down again. For th
Azalea My mom would give us fake names sometimes and we used cash for everything. But soon enough they would sniff us out and start asking about us around town and we'd be gone in the night again. This was the first time though that I had gone without my mom. We had been in 8 different states over the last 5 years, but had only returned to Texas a few months ago. She said it was a big enough state that the chances of us being found was slim. He wouldn't think to look in his own backyard. I didn't want to run forever and we'd had been saving up to buy new identities. I woke to the sun shinning brightly in my eyes and knew it was time to get going again. Once in Arrowhead, I checked into a small hotel right off the highway. We had looked it up and decided ahead of time that if we got separated we would meet up here. I grabbed some fast food for dinner and settled into the room to wait for my mom. Sometime in the night I was awakened by the sounds of shuffling outside my roo
Azalea So here I was, sitting in the SUV with my father, mere miles from the school. A few weeks had passed since he had caught me and taken me back to Texas. I had outright refused to go onto pack lands and meet his people, so he had put me up at a hotel nearby. He had taken me shopping for a new wardrobe and all the things I would need for school as well as a few extras. I knew he was trying to make up for everything and I figured why not let him? I hadn't had many new things or much of anything while we were on the run so it was a nice feeling. He had set me up with a bank account as well and would be putting monthly allowance deposits in it for me as long as I attended school as an extra incentive. My father told me about 'our' family - I had an older brother who was training at the Alpha Academy near my school and a younger sister who was attending school with me - only two years behind me. I told him about all the cities we had been to and all the things that we had got
AzaleaWe finally reached the dorms and I could see my father's men waiting there by the doors. "Her bags have been placed in her room sir.""Thank you James. I'll be down shortly," my father replied. The dean led us up the stairs to the top floor, explaining that each floor held a different type of supe - mage, fae, other shifters and then werewolves. Wolves had their own floor as they outnumbered the other shifters 50:1. He explained that there was a common room on each floor as well that held multiple sofas and TV's and tables where they could study together. My room was at the end of the hall closest to a door that said not an exit. I smiled a little, hoping that was the door to the roof. I used to love climbing onto the roof at our apartments at night and just sit up there. My father opened the door with the key the dean had given him and we all walked in. I was pleasantly surprised - this place was bigger than most of the places I had lived with my mom the last several y
I stopped by my room and grabbed my empty back pack so I could bring some things back with me from the snack bar. I had no idea what they would have, but I didn't want to have to keep going down when I was hungry or thirsty. I walked slowly to the cafeteria, which sat in the middle behind the main office and the auditorium. I was surprised when I walked in through the doors. Off to one side was coolers and coolers filled with all kinds of drinks and cold snacks - like pudding and yogurt and ice cream as well as fruits and vegetables. There was a huge rack next to them that contained other fruits and vegetables as well as what looked like fresh baked goods. There were also shelves stacked with single serve snacks like pop tarts and chips. On the other side was what looked like a full buffet. A lot of it was shut down now because there weren't that many people on campus just yet. There was an area to leave your dishes and a rack that held to go containers as well as what looked
Azalea I woke to the feeling of warm sunshine on my face. I remembered all of this was real and I only had 10 months of this before being free. I quickly threw on some capris, a tshirt and flip flops. Looking at the time, I only had about two hours before I had to meet them and I wanted to make the most of it. I ate a quick yogurt and threw a juice into my backpack before grabbing my key and some poptarts before heading out the door. I got outside, stuffing the rest of the poptarts in my face as I walked to the forrest edge. Once I had gotten a little ways in to the tree line, I looked around and took a deep breath to ensure no one was around before undressing and putting my clothes into my bag. I found a hiding spot at the base of a tree to place my bag in before I shifted. It was a little uncomfortable as I hadn't shifted in months - not being in an area that had enough trees and not wanting to ask my father for a run. Once I shifted, I stretched, feeling the wind ruffle my
