“Let’s take her as the last applicant.” Lucien took a sip of his coffee while listening to his secretary.

“Understood, Boss.” Vicky smiled. Lucien was piqued.

“What is that smile about?” He comfortably asked.

“I just saw her a while ago while preparing your coffee.” She nonchalantly said while arranging the files, female and male, in intervals, just like how her boss would like them done for interviews.

“And…?” Lucien felt hanging. He was waiting to hear anything about this person. Even if it wasn’t anything profitable. Well, as a businessman, he usually doesn’t entertain nonsense information, but right now, he was inwardly dying to hear anything about this girl. He wanted to slap his one backhead, but he cannot make his frustrations be known even to his own secretary.

“And I cannot help but realize one thing I have never had the luxury to encounter before. And I even thought I have lived long already, that I have seen it all.” She chuckled. She paused as if she was trying to convince herself that what she was going to say was not something far-fetched or unbelievable.

“What is it…?” Lucien stared at her with his cup of coffee hanging in the air held by his right hand. He was about to take another sip when her interesting mien stopped him.

“Have you ever seen someone that looked… uhhhm... How do I describe her...not in a sensual way but as a professional, she really looked Executively Sexy.” Vicky found it hard to vocalize her thoughts. She wasn’t sure it would sound as pure and easy as she thought.

“Executively sexy….?” Lucien took a sip of his coffee, but his mind was savoring the description Vicky just mentioned about the lady that mysteriously caught his attention ever since he arrived in this area today. “I agree. I actually saw her downstairs today. She was sent by a guy who dropped her off at the main entrance of the building. She really caught my attention. I even took the elevator from the ground floor just to have the chance of getting close to her. But she even ignored my greetings of good morning to her.”Lucien complained. He was talking with his eyes on his coffee cup, and he did not see how Vicky’s smile turned wide. His eyes turned to her when she asked in disbelief.

“You mean, you took the elevator from the ground floor? How about your car?” She asked with her eyebrows arched.

“Well, I asked for the head guard to park it on my spot.” Lucien shrugged.

“And you greeted her?” She probed. That was unbelievable. If someone else told her that, she wouldn’t have believed it. But since it was he himself telling her, she had no choice but to do so.

“She was standing in front of me with her back to me when I greeted, so maybe she wasn’t sure I was greeting her, so she simply turned her head halfway and nodded a little.” He explained. “Okay, let’s get started.” He wanted to avoid the topic. He was still feeling uncomfortable about what happened at the elevator earlier. He did not have the courage to be bold again and strike a conversation with her when they were already in the elevator. He was scared to be ignored again. A while ago, he was still able to console himself that she was not fully aware the greetings were for her, so she reacted the way she did. But what if she blatantly brushes him off? He wasn’t sure how he was going to handle such disregard that he struggled to keep his mouth shut during the whole ride up.

Vicky came back with a lady behind her. Lucien opened the file that Vicky handed him.

“Please take a seat.” Lucien formally instructed. The interview went quick. It was as if the ten applicants were interviewed for formality when actually they had already failed to get hired when Lucien Michaelson saw Brianna Peters’ files.

“Thank you for coming.” It was the tenth time Vicky bid an applicant goodbye. She noticed Lucien, her boss, crossed out some and encircle come of the applicants’ details. She was sure he was going to explain those things to her later. And right now, she noticed her boss changed into somewhat or something she had never seen in him.

“Boss, shall I call Miss Peters in?” Vicky gave in her professional tone. They were at work. It would be rude of her to do otherwise.

“Wait, please give me a moment to breathe. And you can have a break while I attend her interview. Alone.” He firmly commanded. He was not confident he would be able to bear further self humiliations. The incident at the elevator lounge was already more than he can handle. Not again! And not in front of another soul, even if she was his well-trusted secretary.

“Yes, sir. Please let me know when you need anything.” Vicky politely replied as she headed towards the door where Brianna was patiently waiting for her turn to be called and interviewed.

She looked calm, but if anyone would ever be able to see her chaotic mind, they wouldn’t feel so inferior to her right now. She wasn’t afraid she wouldn’t pass. She was afraid she wouldn’t be able to hold her self-control and pounce on her enemy’s beloved grandson. What a sweet way to execute her revenge, right? Her devious and angelic minds were in constant bickering inside her head, making her frown once in a while. A facial expression anyone watching or looking at her would flee if not smile. To hide her inner thoughts, she would mostly close her eyes. A liberty and chance for the people around her to give her a good look. Some with admirations, while others were with hatred. Like, “Why would she apply in here?” making them lose the chance to get hired. While others, especially of the opposite sex, revel at the beauty that they had never seen, and no matter how many beautiful faces they have seen, her uniqueness captures them. Now it was only her left. She was feeling even more at peace to act freely, according to her arguing mind’s opinion.

“Just break his neck and get the hell out of here unnoticed.” Whispered her devious mind. “Let Jack know you need him to shut the cameras for just ten seconds. No one will notice anything.”

“He isn’t your direct enemy. Don’t break your own rules.” Argues her morals.

She was oblivious of her face turning from one expression of naughtiness to righteousness. A smirk would faintly appear just to be erased the next seconds later. Vicky saw all of them as she approached Brianna’s seat. She felt like this applicant doesn’t seem nervous, but there is something more to that feeling she herself cannot describe. Confidence? Excited? Trepidation? Vicky cannot point out exactly how to put Brianna’s facial expressions into a word. Even for an adjective. But she did not feel offended in any way. It wasn’t anything suspicious or hideous. Maybe that was just her way of suppressing anxiety with the fact that she was soon to be on interview after a long wait. Being the last one on the line has its perks, and Vicky clearly knew that.

“Miss Brianna Peters?” Vicky was hundred percent sure of the name of the person in front of her, but she made herself sound asking as if calling for her attention.

“Yes, Ma’am.” Brianna stood up quickly. It was like she heard an angelic voice dragging her out of her enchanting devious mind to snap and hit her target without mercy.

“Please, follow me.” Vicky led Brianna towards the door where her boss was waiting. She smiled when she saw the applicant stood up like a soldier on duty. So snappy. Before knocking on the door, she cleared her throat and waited for the man inside to confirm her presence being noticed.

“Come in.” A manly, strict, and deep, rich voice acknowledged the lady’s knock. She opened the door. She remained next to the door while gesturing for Brianna to get in. Then closed the door softly when she saw Brianna heading towards the empty seat to the man at the head of the table’s right.

Five years later. “Babe, don’t tire yourself so much,” Lucien reminded Brianna lovingly. “How is our little Anna doing today?” he asked with his warm hands rubbing on Brianna’s six months pregnant belly. “I am not really sure. But I have no doubts she is too eager to see the outside world. She has been kicking my ribs inside as if trying to push her way out even before her due!” Brianna blew a breath as she answered. Lucien laughed happily at the cute face of his lovely wife who somehow looked complaining. “Babe, I noticed that your mood swings during this pregnancy and the first one, with Caleb, are so different. Could it be because their genders are also different? With Caleb, you were as tough as usual, but with our little girl, Abigail, you are so… Uhmmm, so…. How do I say this?” Lucien scratched his head as if searching for the exact but safe word to say not to provoke his pregnant wife. “Come on, tell me. I am so what, huh?” Brianna asked with a sweet smile. Her face looked

“And in respect to Anna’s parents, I wish to move their graves into a mausoleum only for the Peters; the parents and grandparents. And as soon as we’ve done so, we will hold a ceremony to honor them,” Leandro declared. “What do you say about these thoughts of mine, Anna? I really hope I do not offend you in any way, because with all my heart, I swear, I only have the purest desire to express my gratitude that they brought you into this world and now you become a part of our family, that also makes your family ours, just like our family is also yours.”Silence filled the whole room. The question was directed to Brianna, so their eyes all turned to look at her as they waited to hear what she would say in response to Leandro’s words that were said with heartfelt sincerity. Brianna was silent not because she was feeling so emotional. Brianna was inwardly checking her heart and thoughts as well as her intuitive response, in silence. Guarding her mind against any misunderstanding or miscal

Brianna and Lucien arrived earlier than Sandra and Levi. It was because Sandra wanted to buy something for Anna, Sandra’s soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and also something for her father-in-law, Leandro Michaelson. There was nothing to worry bout since the war had already subsided and there were more than enough men to assist the couple with security or anything they would ever need. Enzo welcomed the young couple, Brianna and Lucien, as soon as they arrived at the mansion. Leandro sent the helicopter to fetch Enzo right after Leandro and Andy were dropped off at his yard. Lucien did not say anything, but Enzo understood the curious look on his young Master’s face as to why it was not the same as usual. Leandro would always wait for Lucien and Brianna by the door whenever the patriarch knew of their arrival. “The Master has a guest. They are in the study room and he is asking for your presence as well,” Enzo answered as he led the couple to where Leandro, Andy, and their guest were at

While the rest of the world was in tumult, the men on the Michaelsons' private army along with Brianna’s team subdued the whole barracks and gather every useful piece of evidence to solidify the cases against Terrence Clayton. The Michaelsons team found out there were more grave reasons why the ex-Vice President wanted the whole place burned down. “Sir, there seemed to be a lot of hidden bundles of money on one of the installed container vaults covered in military cloth to make it appear and look like it was only one of the stocks containers,” Captain Lexus Bordeaux reported when they started to search the whole property for anything they could find useful. “There is no way one can create a legal document to explain such a large sum of money, so Clayton must have kept them there,” Andy scoffed. “And there wouldn’t have been any way his under-the-table deals would pay him other than by cash,” Leandro also scorned. “Do not touch anything, just take photos and secure the surroundings

Blake assigned Finn and Hoggins to cover him by looking at their surroundings as his watchmen while he focused his attention on the target he was after according to the order given for him to execute. Blake had to look up most of the time to locate the shooter so he was relieved two of his comrades who already knew the drills and what they were supposed to do in this situation were with him to rely on. “Boss, these men are wearing a different uniform from ours. I believe they are not on the same side with us. What do I do?” Blake reported in a whispering tone as soon as he got the assurance that his information was accurate. “Take them down. Alive if possible, injured or not. But don’t hesitate to shoot if they try to resist and fight back!” Brianna answered. “Yes, Boss!” Blake answered. He gave Ramil Finn and Andrew Hoggins a signal on what to do and they acted accordingly. Hoggins took the east and south directions to secure. Finn took the other two directions while Blake Gordon

“Don Leon, the barracks in the forest is about to be abolished. Whether there are people in it or none, the order was made, and Terrence Clayton’s minions are on the move as we speak. If you have your men in there, tell them to pull out. Especially if your grandson and his wife are there, I strongly suggest you inform them of this message immediately!” The caller was using a voice synthesizer, so it was unrecognizable if the caller was a man or a woman. “Let me know who you are, whether what you say is the truth or just a prank; I want to thank you for this length of effort to notify me; let me return the favor one day,” Leandro wisely replied. “I will come to find you in person one day, then you will know who you are, and I will personally ask for your help. But for now, we don’t have time. Tell your men to pull out!” That was all they heard before the line was cut. “Tatum Eliott, leave the area right away. I repeat, leave the area right now! A tip just came in; that place is

“What are all of these?” Lucien asked looking at a slideshow of files with word documents and images. “Isn’t that the address of the warehouse where we found the human organ harvesting? Are these papers the legal documents of property ownership?” “Yes! And someone sent me this file after I failed to hack into their firewall!” Jack answered with a victorious laugh. “Wait…! The ownership is under the name of… Will somebody zoom that part where the name is printed and signed?!” Leandro frowned as he also tried to read the content of the document on the wide screen in front of him and Andy Lockwood. “Terrence Clayton!?”Andy, Leandro, Lucien, and Jack almost read and uttered the name aloud in unison. Brianna scoffed. In her thoughts, “got ya!” was bouncing although her facial expressions remained as calm as always. “How did you get this? Are you sure they are legit?” Brianna asked calmly instead of showing her pure delight. She still wanted to make sure they weren’t rejoicing over a f

Then Charles Anderson turned to the IT team. “I want to see every corner, every area, every exit and entrance of this barracks!” he roared in panic. “Sir, what about the men in the field?” the team leader asked cautiously after nodding in response to the command given. “Forget them, they are no longer of any use now that the enemy has its hands on them,” Charles answered waving his right hand dismissively. “I want to see if the ones I am after would grace me with their mighty presence,” Charles murmured as he busily looked at every screen. “I am not so sure they would choose to join their team to attack me back for gatecrashing their wedding but knowing the bride too well, I won’t be surprised if I see her face coming for me at this moment.” Charles keenly observed every angle on every screen. He was tracing Brianna’s figure among the intruders. They were all in full gear, but knowing Brianna for more than a decade, Charles Anderson could tell even her shadow. And he was more tha

As soon as Blake Gordon activated the jammer, the sniper team Charles had sent to attack the resort hotel, where Brianna Peters and Lucien Michaelson’s wedding was supposed to be being held, got disconnected and unreachable for Charles and the few men with him that controlled their overall internet connections and communication. “What the fuck is going on?!” Charles asked the man he knew was the most active in every inquiry Charles would make. “Get them back online!” Charles Anderson was furious beyond words but he was not very much familiar with everyone around him at the moment, so he was aware he could not act like he would usually do when he was with Jack and the rest of the men under his command.“Sir, something must be wrong from their end of the network,” the man seated in front of the computer hesitantly uttered. “What is that supposed to mean?!” Charles snarled. The poor IT guy cringe, but he had no choice other than clarify his words.“I tried to reach out to them but the
