Chapter 1

1

Sliver pov {The runaway bride}

“Find her”

Shouts echoed from behind sliver as she ran so quickly in the dark empty cloudy streets, holding her ruined white satin heavy wedding gown, rubbing the muddy path with her shaking hands.

Rain hitting her skin so hard it felt like needles hitting her.

“Check that corner”

The shout echoed somewhere behind her.

Panic shot upwards, at her chest. Those people were still following her, trying to take her back.

Lighting split up in the sky, brightening the dark cloudy street as she was running in with her heels before hitting the ground, few meters away from her.

sliver fell down to the ground.

her high heels were gone from her foot, she couldn’t even remember how she lost it or had she been running without it?.

“No” she shook her head, that shouldn’t be her priority right now, she needed to run very far away from felix men, if she gets caught then everything is over for her.

No.

Not over.

Far worse than this.

her breathing turned worse as she pushed herself harder, ignoring the sharp pain cutting through her barefoot from the glasses on the ground

Felix previous words kept ringing in her head. “ you belong to me now, sliver. Your heart and body “

sliver shivered under the rain at such thoughts, she must never get caught.

Few hours ago, the whole church was filled with music, cameras, expensive foods and wine with seated guests smiling widely, watching her walking up the aisle on her white satin gown like a transaction instead of a happy bride. The daughter of the vole family marrying the future senator.

The most perfect family union, coming together.

Power marrying power. No one cared about a shaken little girl like her.

No one cared when felix squeezed her hands tight forming big bruise for her to smile at the cameras in front of her. And her father?

He was smilling while adjusting his tie for the cameras, then he leaned closer to her and whispered coldly into her ear “You know this marriage was necessary” then stood straight back.

Necessary? she is going to be sacrified for his business and he smilling for the world for a transaction well done? A sob nearly escaped through her lips but she bit it back, because crying here wont save her from whats coming. she wont show any signs of being weakness in front of anyone.

"I must run, running away from here will save me." the thought kept ringing in her head.

Another lightning struck again, that was when she saw it.

A church. It stood at the street ending , looking like something that was abandoned by church itself with an earie looking tall gates, broken stained glass window and massive black wooden door. Darkness surrounding the odd abandoned looking building.

sliver slowed down for few seconds thinking, everyone in the country knows about the old abandoned church or at least the rumor surrounding it. she remembered clearily hearing criminals usually meet there to avoid being seen by their enermie to make transaction and if any girl were to go near it, they and their unborn children will be cursed to death.

But she couldn’t care right now, because the group of men hunting her were far more worse than the curse. Some headlight appeared at the bottom of the street, sliver felt her heart drop.

They found her.

No she whispered, then ran towards the old church immediately. Rain falling, sticking her hair to her face as she pushed the huge wooden door with all her strength. At first, they didn’t move.

“please” she whispered desperately as she heard another shout echoed outside.

Then suddenly the doors creaked open, warm air wrapped around her immediately. The smell hit her next, burning candles, smokes from pot and old weak wood. she fell down, then stood up quickly slammed the doors shut behind her with a click sharp sound, pressing her back against them while struggling to breathe. Everywhere was quite, no sound inside except from her heavy breathing.

The church was looking huge, with rows of ancient looking chairs stretched under the shadows and shaking candlelight. Broken stained glass windows everywhere, showing cracked different colors across the marble floor when ever lightening struck up outside the chuch.

It should have felt holy like a normal church but no, instead it felt wrong like the building was watching her. Her heart started beating painfully in her ears as she walked farther inside.

“Hello” she called out with a small tone

No response, just rain hitting high on the roof, with water dripping somewhere in the church. Then a sound, no footsteps , coming very slow, very controlled. her inside tightened immediately, someone is here.

A shadow near the altar moved, then she saw it. A man dressed in all black, standing nearing the front church like he has been there all day long watching her.

sliver froze, looking at him. He was tall, very tall with dark hair slightly brushed over his fore head, shadows showed the hard lines of his face. Tattoos disappeared under his collar of his black shirt barely visible on his skin. But it was his eyes that stopped her from breathing. It looked cold, calm and unreadable, not the wild wickedness she saw in felix eyes.

No, this felt worse, controlled anger. Like the kind that didn’t need to talk to destroy someone, lightening flashed again for few seconds white light reflected from the window then shined on the cross behind her. Making the man before her shine like the devil him self.

sliver felt his eyes on her, maybe wet dress, bare bleeding feet, bruised wrist and fear. Fear gripped her, as she looked back towards the church door still locked, something deep inside her chest whispered that she just ran into more grave danger.

The stranger finally spoke.

“you shouldn’t have come here” with a calm, low voice.
