In the low light, the knife that was pressed on Kai's throat gleamed. All it would need is a little push. No more smirks. No more gimmicks. No more poison.

Thorne's hand remained steady. He spoke in a low, frighteningly calm voice. "I will slit you open if you say one more word."

Kai simply grinned, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Be careful, Alpha. You risk discoloring your priceless coat.

My chest was tense as I stood motionless. There was a part of me that wanted to let Thorne. Put an end to this game for good. The area that had been burned too many times, however, hesitated.
