Joanne's POV

I walked briskly to my car, my heels clacking against the pavement like my rage echoed through them. I didn’t want to admit it, not even to myself, but Sophie D'Amato rattled something inside me. Something I couldn’t explain. Something old. Something raw. Like I knew her from somewhere.

Sliding into the driver’s seat of my Lexus, I slammed the door and stared through the windshield, my hands clenched on the steering wheel till my knuckles turned white.

There was something off about her. I could feel it. That stare was too calm and too calculating. The way she looked at me like she knew me and like she pitied me, and that is one thing i hated the most in the world.

And the way Arnold looked at her the other day? … God. I could scratch his eyes out. I saw it, it was pure adoration. As if he had just seen the woman of his dreams walk past in a slinky black dress. That man has never looked at me that way. Not even on our wedding night.

I leaned back in my seat and closed my

  • The Man Who Stole My Name    Hello, Stranger

Sophie/ Jasmin's POVThe soft but biting wind whispered through the cemetery leaves. The sky was dull as if it was also mourning with me. I found myself standing in front of a black granite headstone. I looked down at the names engraved in white. Jonathan GoldwynMargaret GoldwynBeloved parents. Taken too soon. It's been two years, and i still can't believe it has been that long since they died. It was better when i didn't remember, but now that i remember, the pain, the ache in my chest became heavier. I wouldn't suffer this much if my parents were alive. "I'm sorry, Mom and Dad," i said as i knelt down beside the grave, "I miss you both so much."I reached for my purse and brought out two white roses, my mother's favorite, and a yellow tulip for my father."I'm sorry i gave all your properties, all that you worked for to him," i whispered, tears streaming down my face as i arranged them on the grave."I promise to get them back, no matter what."I hated remembering that day. Th

  • The Man Who Stole My Name    The East Wing 2

Sophie/ Jasmin's POVI was bored as usual. It's been two weeks since i regained my memories and since Cipher and I made an agreement that I'd stay and he'd help me with a plan to get my properties back. He had barely said a word to me since then, he merely came back from work and disappeared into one corner of the big space. And if i'm going to be honest, i love it that way. No more stifling tension. Just silence, and it can be refreshing sometimes, unlike today, the silence isn't enough. I had asked him earlier how the plan was going, and "everything is going, i'll put you on once i get something" was his curt reply. He didn't even let me blink and comprehend it before he walked off. So, I wandered. The mansion was massive—obnoxiously so. Each wing looked like a different world. I'd already explored most parts of it, his personal office, the large library with beautiful book nooks, the rooftop garden and pool, the wine cellar, even Christina’s ultra-sterile kitchen, where emotio

Cipher D’Amato’s POVIt’s been a week now since Jasmine regained her memories. After we had a deal that I would help her get her life back together while she still stays with me till the merger convention. I don’t understand the unnecessary worship of being married in business. But the only way all of these boards of directors could trust you is to get married, and that was exactly why I married Jasmine and lied to her. Today isn’t about Jasmine or the board of directors, it's about my wife… Emilia. I found myself in the east wing of the mansion, which has been off-limits since the incident happened. Even though I had ordered Christina to clean it every day. I stood at the doorway of the space that Emilia and I used to share in the mansion. The place still smelled like her even after two years. It smelled like Lavender. Regret rushed me and punched me in the guts as I looked around our apartment. Every time I stepped across the threshold, I bled inside, and today, I bled freely.H

  • The Man Who Stole My Name    A Face I Never Chose

Sophie\ Jasmine's POVThe sun was too bright for a morning that felt so hollow. The discharge papers lay crumpled in my hand, forgotten. The white walls of the hospital slipped behind me; the odor of antiseptic was replaced by the bitter scent of the city's fresh air, which I had experienced as a deadness within myself.A sleek black car idled at the curb, polished to perfection. Of course, he sent a driver. The tinted window rolled down, and to my surprise, it wasn't the driver. "Get in," Cipher said in a low, calm voice.I didn't move. I took one step forward, then another, past the car, away from him.“No,” I said stubbornlyThe word sliced the air between us. I didn't shout it. I didn’t have to. It came out as pure refusal. He opened the car door, stepping out with that same collected arrogance, wearing guilt like a well-cut coat. “At least consider the fact that I saved you from dying.”That stopped me and annoyed the fuck out of me. I turned slowly. My fists clenched at my side

  • The Man Who Stole My Name    The Awakening

Sophie's POVThe air was warm and sweet. Not the metallic scent of a hospital or the antiseptic sting of medicine. This was… lilies and perfume. My mother’s perfume.I stood barefoot in a room as the sunlight spilled across the marbled floor, catching on the diamond chandelier above. I knew this place; I had danced here and grown up here. The Goldwyn estate. The memory spread like warm water in my chest.A girl in a pink tutu twirled past me.Yeah, that was me… a younger and brighter me. My mother knelt beside her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.“Chin up, Jasmine,” she whispered. “You are a Goldwyn.”Jasmine.My name is Jasmine. The images shifted. My father’s laugh echoed through the halls. The boardroom. My signature. The merger.Arnold’s hand in mine. His vows. His lies. His tongue in Joanne’s mouth. The lake house. My heart cracked like glass, my feet pounded down the hallway in that dream, no, memory. Keys shaking in my hands. Driving. Crying. Screaming.I was floating,
