CHAPTER TWELVE
LUNA POV
I really can't explain whether Kieran is at loggerheads with his cousin Liam. Since last night, I'd been closely observing them, even during dinner. What's his problem? Some minutes ago, he balled his fist, looking angry, as though he was about to have a fight with Liam. I saw how Liam maintained a calm demeanor despite Kieran's harsh words. At this point, I don't know who to trust among them. Kieran had disclosed to me that he was following me; why? Why did he wait for me instead of going to the hotel after he left the palace?
How did he knew I was going to leave the palace?
"I'm sorry about how I reacted to Liam some minutes ago," Kieran apologized as he came into the room with a tray in his hands.
"You were acting so unusually; why?" I demanded, sitting upright on the bed with the beep sound from the machine still echoing.
"I wasn't just okay with the fact that Liam was asking you too many questions," he said and placed the tray of food in front of me. "Should I feed you?" he offered.
Why's he being so caring and concerned about me? I wondered. Does he have any intentions or interest in me?
"Don't worry, I can do it myself," I told him. I collected the bowl of potage and stirred it before digging in.
"Why did you save me?" I asked him while eating. I expected him to respond immediately, but he hesitated. I looked up at him and repeated, "Why did you save me?"
"Anyone would do the same," he replied casually.
"Anyone who would do the same?" I thought, finding it ironic. What makes him think anyone would put their life at risk to save me?
"How many would do the same?" I asked, dropping the spoon on the tray.
"I did it because I never wanted anything to happen to you," he said. I recalled hearing a metal object noise that day in the woods; could he be the one who made that noise?
"I heard a sound that day in the woods; you did it, right?" I demanded.
"Yes, I did," he admitted.
"And I was asking; you didn't even speak out..." I said, wondering why he didn't show himself. Did he have an ulterior motive? "Why were you following me? I want to know," I told him.
He sat down on the stool in front of me and asked, "Do you think I wanted to hurt you?"
"I didn't say that either," I told him.
"Where were you going?" he asked me.
"That's not the question I asked you, Kieran," I told him.
I needed an explanation from him because I never expected him to follow me last night.
"I saw you leaving the palace, and that's why I had to follow," he said.
"So you're spying on me?" I asked him. .
"Spying on you?" he repeated.
"I don't really know who's spying on me now; I don't know who to trust..." I trailed off, hearing the sound of the door click open. Just then, Liam and Victor walked in.
Victor was wearing a black suit, a white inner shirt, and black pants. He walked up to me and sat beside me.
"How are you feeling, my angel?" Victor asked me.
"A bit better," I replied.
"Liam told me everything. Who do you think might have done this?" he demanded.
"I don't really know; they were in their wolf form, and I couldn't detect who they were," I told him.
"Can you remember having an issue with anybody?" he asked.
So far, I hadn't had any confrontation with anyone. I'm not a troublesome person, so who could have done this to me?
"I don't think I have any issues with anybody," I said.
"Maybe those who killed Raven might just be after you," he suggested.
He might be right. Those who killed my mate might be the ones after my life. But why are they after my life?
Just then, Kieran's phone rang. He tucked his hand into his pocket, brought out his phone, and said, "Alright, I'll be back soon."
Instantly, Victor stood up from the bed and moved to Kieran.
"Thanks for saving Luna," he said, stretching out his hand for a handshake. I knew Kieran didn't want to accept his handshake; he looked at me, and I frowned, and then he accepted the handshake.
"No need thanking me; anyone would do the same," he said.
"I gutta go," he added and immediately left the place.
"I met with the investigation team, and they found this," Liam told me, giving me a picture.
It was my picture.
"What about it?" I asked.
"We found this picture at the scene of what happened last night," Liam said.
"Look at the back," Victor told me. I turned the picture over and found a signature.
"What's this?" I asked him.
"That's Kieran's signature; I guess he was the one responsible for the attack," Victor said, and then Liam walked out of the room.
"Kieran?" I asked in disbelieve.
"Maybe it fell off from his pocket," I suggested.
I don't think Kieran would even think of hurting me. I couldn't believe this, and nothing he could tell me would make me believe it.
"Then I want to ask a question," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Have you asked yourself why he was there?"
"He said he followed me because he saw me leave the palace," I told him.
"If this wasn't his plan, then why did he follow you?" he asked me.
"I..." I trailed off.
"He wants you to see him as your hero," he told me.
If this was true, would Kieran allow me to get hurt just because he wanted me to feel like he's my hero?
Why was he so desperate?
CHAPTER NINETEEN LUNA'S POVAfter the incident with Victor, the next day, I left the palace and headed back to my birth Pack, where I'm to resume my duty of taking care of the Prime cub. The drive back to my birth Pack was a long one, but after what looked like eternity, I arrived there. After doing some cleaning, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door, and I was surprised to see Dylan standing in front of me. How did he manage to know that I was no longer in Stone Prime? "Hi, come in," I said, slightly surprised. "You came back," he said while walking inside the house. "You know I'm the caretaker of the Prime cub; I'm supposed to come back here," I reminded him."Yeah, I know," he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on the couch. "What do you care for: a glass of wine, water, or something else?" I offered. "I'm okay, I just need to have a brief conversation with you," he told me. My hands were wet from the cleaning, so I said, "I'll be back in a minute." I walked int
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN VICTOR'S POV"Victor, let go of me. What's the meaning of this?" She asked me, feeling irritated. "Come on..." I tried speaking, but she cut me off. "Victor, get your damn hand off me!" She commanded, and then I decided to let go of her hands. "What the fuck was wrong with you?" I heard Xander, my wolf, scream inside my head. Goddamnit! Why couldn't I control myself? I shouldn't be the one to spoil things for myself. What should I do now? I know what she'll be thinking now, and if I eventually allow her to walk down that door, she might decide not to go on with the union. I shouldn't let that happen. Just as she pulled the handle of the door, I pushed it back, and it closed. I stood in front of the door when she asked, "Victor, what has come over you?" She asked me, very much provoked, though she's trying hard not to raise her voice. "I'm sorry, Luna. I don't know what came over me," I told her calmly. "You should be sorry for yourself!" She said coldly. "I
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN AUTHOR'S POV "You shouldn't bother about me, you're the only medicine I need to get better," he told her.His face is close to Luna and he he's still holding her tightly on her waist as though she was going to run away if he let go of her."Please," he told her and she could feel his breath on her face. But she isn't ready for this."Let's do this some other day," she told him."I want it now, let's have sex together, " he said in a commanding tone." Was this what he really wanted?" Luna mused. She's not going to have sex with him until their wedding night and if he isn't okay with it, he should forget about it."Not now, Victor, not now!" She told him."Not now? Then when?" He asked her slightly provoked."You have to wait until our wedding night." She told him."Our wedding night?" He said with a disparaging smile on his lips. "Why our wedding night? Luna, stop acting like a virgin!" He told her.She couldn't believe her ears. What has come over him?Embarrasse
CHAPTER SIXTEEN LUNA POVCould he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack."I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. "Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. "C
CHAPTER FIFTEEN VICTOR POVI was able to successfully convince Luna that Kieran was responsible for her attack, and that's what made me happy. I had wanted to leave the palace to meet with Ferdinand's mother, at least to extend my condolences, but I changed my mind. I wanted to be here to monitor things myself so that Kieran wouldn't come in and spoil everything. I knew Luna was mad at him and wasn't ready to talk to him, but things can change in a minute, and I'd have everything backfiring on me. I didn't want to make a silly mistake that I'd regret, so I'd stay right here in the palace until the day of the wedding. My initial plan was to convince her to accept that the wedding holds tomorrow but she refused it and I don't know why she's afraid of allowing the wedding to hold.I know Kieran must have told her something and that's the reason why she's objecting. That bastard is controlling and manipulative. But one thing is sure, I'll have to personally teach him a lesson. I'll make
CHAPTER FOURTEEN LUNA POV It's like I've been stabbed in the back. Kieran, of all people, is the one who tried to kill me. This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what h
