“Your father mentioned a breakup. Dis your ex take drugs too?”

My lips curved in an involuntary smile as the officer continued to question me. It felt good to be questioned like a normal person; not having to think about Andres or any of that crazy supernatural stuff.
“What are you grinning about? Do you think you can escape the hands of the law?” He growled in frustration. This only made me smile wider. He turned almost purple with rage.
His fist came slamming on the table. “Once your medical reports are here, I will wipe that smirk off your face.”

A sharp, burning sensation in my throat and lungs woke me up. Snapping open my eyes, I found that the room was filled with a strong haze of smoke.“Cassius! It was as thrilling as it was stupefying to know the ins and outs of the power structure in the supernatural world.
