Rosa hurried down the hospital corridor with Alexander at her side.

A few minutes earlier, they had arrived at the hospital and Rosa was impatient to see her aunt.

The faint scent of antiseptic still lingered in the air, a smell that repulsed Rosa. She had never liked the smell of hospitals.

They got into her aunt's room and Rosa’s heart melted with relief when she saw her aunt seated on the edge of the bed, already dressed in her normal floral top and loose trousers, beaming and looking healthy.

“Auntie,” Rosa breathed, rushing to her now open arms.

“Oh my dear,” her aunt replied with a tired but warm smile. “I’m finally free from this place. Ugh, my eyes hurt from staring at so much white.”

Rosa giggled. “Right? The white colors are so blinding.”

Alexander approached politely. “How are you feeling, ma’am?”

“Wow, Mr. Wade. I didn't expect you to come. Again.” She gave him a pointed look and Rosa cleared her throat, giving her aunt a pleading look.

She knew her aunt was grateful to h

Rosa nearly fainted. The expressions on everyone’s faces said it all; this wasn’t like Alexander. Well… they needed to make their marriage look real, right? Right?!She gulped and lowered her gaze. Her heart danced in her chest, far too eager, and she wished it would calm down. It wasn’t helping her at the moment.A low chuckle was heard from his father. Rosa immediately grabbed her cup and took a long sip of water. She really needed it.“Interesting. It really came as a shock though.”Rosa’s eyes lifted slowly to him.“A sudden marriage, news everywhere. I actually thought it was just some media propaganda. But when your mother and brother told me it was true, I was amazed.”Alexander stared at his father but said nothing.“Actually, I have no problem with you getting married. In fact, I was expecting it. You’re thirty three now, and I surely need a grandchild.” He laughed, and Ethan joined him.Rosa coughed and drank more water. She shot Ethan a brief glare. She knew exactly why he

“Hit or miss?”Rosa blinked as Martha twirled, wearing a blue gown she had gifted her. She chuckled.“Definitely hit.”The girl beamed. “Thank you, M’lady! You are so kind, like an angel.”Rosa's eyes trailed downwards as she played with her fingers. Last night's memories were still fresh in her mind and she was trying so hard to push it back …but some things were practically impossible. She sighed, and Martha gave her a worried look. She shook her head with a gentle smile, but the girl's eyes still stayed on her.She wondered if Alexander would talk to her today. Right now, their status was : Bing! Awkward Mode Activated.Rosa fell flat on her bed. She just felt like digging a pit and jumping inside. Her cheeks had turned bright crimson and she suddenly felt giddy. She turned and turned on the bed like a love-struck teenager, muffling squeaky sounds with her pillow.“Hm?” Martha's head tilted as she stared at her, wondering what was wrong with her madam.Mrs. Dill who was downstairs,

Rosa felt the world stop rotating.Alexander's mouth crashed onto hers, sending a sharp pull through her that made her knees weaken and her toes curl. The kiss wasn’t gentle; it was hungry, yearning, deep and claiming, like he had finally given in to something he had been holding back for far too long.Rosa gasped against his lips, and Alexander took advantage of it, his mouth slanting over hers, deeper this time.“!”Rosa felt her head spin, her heart beating like it wanted to burst. His fingers tightened on her waist, drawing her closer, and blood rushed down her abdomen. Her hands rose instinctively, gripping his shoulders, trying to steady herself. But the moment she touched him, he groaned softly. A low, deep and restrained sound that made her stomach flip. His lips moved with purpose, hot and sure, coaxing and inviting.Slow for a second, then deeper.More intense. More consuming. More heated. More passionate.A moan escaped from her lips. The only thing she could think of was

Rosa looked over the clear lake. It felt tranquil here. She could feel Alexander’s gaze on her and her smile widened. He probably thought she had gone completely crazy.“You know,” she began, running her hands over her arms, “there’s something Hugo taught me. If you feel too choked up, in a tight corner, if you feel too overwhelmed…” she now looked at Alexander, “just scream.”Alexander blinked. Huh?Rosa chuckled. “Let out all your emotions. Cry to the sky! And then, you’ll be freer.” Her brows raised as if gesturing for Alexander to come stand closer, but he turned instead.“Let’s go, Rosa. This isn’t the time for your antics.”“No!” She immediately held his hand. “Alexander Wade, you are going to do this.”His eyes went to hers. “Time isn’t on our side. Night is fast approaching.”But his words did nothing. The adamant girl remained firm. Then she walked in front of him, blocking his path.“No. We are going to do this.” Her tone was resolute, and Alexander wondered where her sudden

“So, where do you want me to start?” She tilted her head as she scooped another ball of ice cream into her mouth.Alexander watched as she licked the spoon in such a carefree manner; unbothered she would be caught by paparazzi or seen as unrefined by members of High Society. Just the girl, Rosa Hamon. He smiled. He enjoyed seeing this part of her - her childlike excitement for things, and how she seemed eager to know everything.“From the beginning,” he replied, crossing his arms. She hummed and looked up, as if recollecting past memories.“Or you can start from when you started living with your aunt.”Her eyes went to him slowly. He watched as her bubbly expression dimmed a little. He narrowed his eyes, observing her countenance.“Well…it was after…my mom died.”Alexander's brows shot up. “Oh… I'm sorry for raising such a sensitive topic.”“No, no, it's fine,” she shrugged. “I've learnt how to live with it.”“How many years now?”“Thirteen. She died when I was ten. And even when she
