KYLIE
Thomas said nothing. I felt myself getting teary again. I walked up to him. "Thomas, please, I need your help. You're the only person who can help me escape without Jason ever finding out. Please, Thomas, I'm begging you. I can't live a life like this. Please…"
Tears rolled down my cheeks but I didn't bother wiping them. I was too tired, I just wanted to leave this place.
Finally, Thomas sighed. "Alright. Meet me at the roundabout tonight. Pack light, okay? So your luggage won't wear you down."
I nodded, thanking him profusely, although my heart was heavy.
As soon as it was nightfall, I packed a small bag and headed down to the roundabout. Thomas had said he would be here at exactly 8pm, so I waited. About fifteen minutes passed, and I started to grow worried. I dialed his number and waited. But it didn't go through. I was about to call him again when I saw his figure approaching in the darkness.
I breathed out in relief, thankful he had showed up.
"What happened? You took longer than expected," I said when he got closer. "I was even calling–"
The words broke, replaced by a gasp as I saw two more figures behind Thomas. When they stepped into the moonlight, my eyes widened in shock. Jason and Selene were behind Thomas. In shock, my eyes flew back to Thomas.
Just then he sighed and walked to stand behind Jason. "I'm sorry, Kylie, but my loyalties lie with Jason."
I felt like I had been stabbed in the chest with a serrated knife. Yet again I had been betrayed by someone I trusted. Tears filled my eyes. "Why? Why would you do this to me? Why?! After everything, why did you betray me, Thomas? Why?!"
I was so angry that I could barely put my feelings into words.
Thomas did not reply. Instead Jason walked forward and grabbed my arm roughly. "Ah, Kylie, you're even more stupid than I thought if you truly thought Thomas would be loyal to someone like you; a powerless omega, a nobody."
Jason laughed, and I stared at him, wondering how I had missed this side of him before.
"Jason, please–"
"Shut the fuck up, I didn't ask you to speak," he threatened with a voice that sent a chill of fear down my spine. "You thought you could escape under my nose?"
My heart fell to my stomach. "Jason, just let me go, please. All this time you've been dishonest about your feelings. Selene is the one you love, so please just let me go."
"You are not going anywhere until I am done with you. Until you birth a child for me and Selene, you shall remain here. Afterwards you can fuck off to wherever you wish."
Selene gave a tinkly laugh as she showed herself to me. A bitter feeling filled my heart. My best friend had betrayed me. It still felt like a dream now. But now, I could see the pure hatred in her eyes for me. How didn't I ever notice?
"You are so stupid, Kylie. I mean, you've always been stupid, but this?" She cackled again. "You're even more gullible than I thought, so much that you even believed Thomas was your friend?"
"W-What are you talking about?" My voice was shaky. I was mad at Thomas for outing me to Jason, but before then he had been a good friend to me.
At the look on my face, Selene laughed even harder. "Aww, you really did think he was on your side. Darling, Thomas knew the truth from the very beginning. Why do you think he was always with you? To distract you from Jason and I, obviously."
Without warning, tears slid down my cheeks. I stared at Thomas, hoping he would deny it. But the look on his face told me it was the truth. A sharp pain made my chest tighten. I had been betrayed.
"Thomas…what did I ever do to you?!" I cried tearfully.
"Oh, shut the fuck up," Selene hissed. "Did you really believe Jason would love an orphan omega like you? You really thought he was going to marry you. Such big dreams," she mocked. "Unfortunately for you, Jason is mine. And he has been mine right from the beginning."
Anger made adrenaline rush through my veins. As I stared at the three of them, hot anger overtook me. Without thinking about it, I walked closer to Jason. If he was betraying me, fine. But I would do something equally hurtful.
"I, Kylie, reject you, Jason, as my mate and Alpha. Before the moon goddess, I sever all the ties between us!"
A sharp pain exploded through my body and I sucked in a sharp breath in pain. I saw Jason go through the same thing, his teeth clenching as he went through the pain of the rejection.
"How dare you?!" He thundered when the pain subsided. "How dare a measly little thing like you reject me?!"
Angrily, he grabbed me by the neck. "Fine. I accept your rejection. But for this bullshit you did, I condemn you to death!"
He shoved me to the ground towards Thomas. "Take her to the dungeons! NOW!!"
"No, no, let me go!" I tried to fight back, but it was no use. I was brutally dragged to the dungeon and tossed inside like a useless item. Thomas didn't even look back once.
Sitting there helplessly, the tears I had been holding began to spill. I sobbed freely, openly. What did I do to deserve this?! "I-I've tried my best to just be a good person! Why is this happening to me?!"
The pain was so intense that I found myself on the floor sobbing helplessly. Curled up into a ball after crying for what seemed like hours, I faded into darkness.
I awakened at the sound of whispers outside the cell I was placed in. At first I thought I was hallucinating, but when my eyes fluttered open, I saw a hooded figure standing there and beckoning to me. At first, I shrank back in fear. But when the person spoke, I paused.
"I'm here to help you. Come," a male voice spoke up. I watched as he quietly unlocked the iron gates to let me out. I quickly rushed out and stood beside him.
"Who are you? Why are you helping me?" I asked shakily.
"That's not important right now. My priority now is getting you out of here, alright? Let's go."
I followed behind him, trying to get a glimpse of his face. But it was fully concealed. Once we were out of the dungeon he pulled me to the side and waited. Just as we were crossing the gates, the loud voice of one of the night guards echoed through the air.
"Hey! Who is out there?! Stop!"
The guards rushed towards us, but the man was quicker. He swiftly lifted me over the wall and began to fight the guards on the other side. "Run!" He commanded.
I cast one glance at the man who was fighting off the guards. I didn't even have the chance to thank him. But at his command, I took off. I didn't look back once, I just focused on running and getting as far away from here as possible. I heard footsteps behind me and I realized that some of the guards were running after me.
Fear filled me up as I ran faster. After a while I found myself in a neighboring pack. I was looking for a place to hide when I felt myself being dragged to the side. I was about to scream then I saw it was a woman holding onto me. She placed a finger over her lips, signing at me to be silent. I obeyed, and the guards who were chasing after me reached where we were. When they didn't see me, they walked away.
"Thank you…" I whispered to the woman who had saved me.
"It's no problem. You can call me Irene," she said, putting her hand out for a handshake.
I stared at her warily, wondering if it was wise to trust someone I did not know. But again, she had saved my life.
"Don't be scared. You can trust me," she said.
I hesitated, different
thoughts running through my mind. Then finally, I accepted her hand.
"I'm Kylie."
KYLIE as KADENI was seated on a couch inside Irene's house, a cup of tea in my hand as we conversed. I had accepted her offer and Irene had invited me inside her home to stay the night. I had accepted because I had nowhere else to go, and somehow, my gut told me I could trust her. From the conversation we had been having, I learned that Irene was a widow. Her husband had died a few years earlier."So, what really happened? Why were those men chasing after you?" She asked, looking concerned.I fiddled with the cup in my hands, wondering if I should come clean about it. I also reasoned that right now I had no one else to turn to in my life aside from her. And perhaps she might be able to help me. So, taking a deep breath, I told her everything. About Jason, Selene, Thomas, and about how Jason planned to make me a breeder. I also told her about the rejection and how he had sentenced me to death. The color had drained from Irene's face when I finished. "Wow, that's a lot. I'm so sorry, K

Kylie"But when exactly, Jason? I've been patient enough," I heard Selene say.A million questions flooded my mind. What was Selene doing here?!"A little longer, sweetheart. Remember the doctor already confirmed that you cannot carry a pregnancy. I'm just waiting for that omega bitch, Kylie, to give birth to my heir. Once that's done, you will take the child. And then we can dispose of her, dump her in the trash where she truly belongs."My knees grow weak. I could not breathe. Suddenly, the world began to spin, and I got the overwhelming urge to throw up.No, no, no. This can't be happening to me. I stood frozen at the door, tears filling my eyes as I struggled to make sense of what I'd just overheard. My chest was so painfully tight that I could hardly breathe. Bile had risen to my throat up to the point where I felt like I was going to throw up.As I stood there in a daze, I questioned if this was truly happening. If I was truly hearing my best friend discussing my downfall with m
