Chapter 2

Annette's POV

Sitting at the table drinking my daily coffee, if I dont have it, my attitude is killer especailly after an all nighter in the woods with Meda. I was deep in thought about Medas words last night, what did she mean ALWAYS?  My mom walks in, taking me from my thoughts, her name is Eileen, she has thick brown hair, with baby blue eyes, she's taller than me I'd say close to 5'5 maybe, though I am not really sure to be honest.  "Annette, you need to contact Alpha Mark sooner than later if you're still wanting to go through with your plans, you know I'd rather you just stay here but, I don't want you that far away from me, I will miss you too much."  she says with a little sadness in her voice which makes my heart sting a little, I never want to be the reason for her to feel sad. " I know mom, I would love to stay with you as well, how about this, you just come away with me, it'll be so much fun!" I say this knowing full well that she'll never leave the pack, "Oh honey, this is my home and always has been, you know I can't leave it" she says with a small smile on her face as she remembers her life, "You love it here mom, I know. Everything will be fine, and if he says yes I will come visit every chance I get" I reassure her "Annette, why don't you just choose your mate, that boy down the street Lorenzo has always had his eye on you and he comes from a nice family" I roll my eyes inwardly at the thought, it's not that I don't like him, I do, he is attractive and nice, infact we did almost date once, but my mom is always pushing me to date him and in true to my rebelious spirit I just chose not to just because someone told me too, haha I know I know, I'm stubborn.  "I am going to the packhouse today to talk to Alpha Mark mom, I will be back soon and let you know what he says." I say as I rush out the door, I can't stand telling her no, I mean I do kinda like him, would it be so bad if I tried dating him even though it's something someone else wants me to do? I do see the way he looks at me, and I hear his muffled compliments as I walk by sometimes. 

BAM! I hold my head, shit what the hell, I look up and I have just ran smack into Lorenzo himself. There he is standing there, about 6 foot, strong, dark brown eyes, beautiful ebony skin. "way to go girl, just mow him down next time" Meda laughs in my mind, "oh meda, lets shift and run away", "are you kidding me Annette, we never run, ever" Meda says sternly, which gives me my confidence back immediatly. 

"Um are you ok?" Lorenzo says looking at me with some concern, "Yes I'm fine Lorenzo, I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." 

"Its ok, I'm a brick wall so take it easy tiger" he jokingly tells me, "I was coming by to see if you wanted to, ya know..go on a date sometime?" he asks kinda of timdily, a far cry from his usual confident self, his father is a Gamma so he tends to have an air of arrogance from time to time, I dont really mind it, he doesn't usually show that side too much so its fine. Lorenzo is 6 months older than I am so he just turned 23, he is also unmated, and has been eyeing me for years. Not that I mind his attention, I welcome it actually. It makes me feel good about myself to know a soon to be Gamma has interest in me. "Sure, but we can talk about details later, I have to go see if Aplha Mark will speak with me real qucik" my response leaves his head slightly tilted as he says ok and I run off to the pack house, but I notice he continues his way towards my home, "what is he doing Meda?" I ask her in my head "I don't know but it feels or doesn't it?" She responds, I push it back into my mind and move towards the packhouse.
