Chapter 4

When Riley returned home, she took her suitcase to her room and decided to go and ask for her husband, she wanted to know if he was home, or maybe just to know his location, she was thinking about him and why did he not want to be in her presence. She saw a man, she had never seen before.

- Excuse me, who are you? - she asked

- Hello madam, my name is Tom and I am your husband's assistant. Tom said

- It is nice to meet you. Can you tell me where my husband is? She asked him

- He just came in madam. He is in the study. Tom answered

- Thank you. I will go and see him. Riley said

The study door was closed, Riley raised her hand and knocked on the door. A man’s hoarse voice came from inside.

- Come in. Bruce spoke

Riley opened the door and saw the person sitting behind the desk. She could not see his face because of the dim light in the study, but she could see the wheelchair so she knew it was her husband.

Bruce was the first to ask her aloud, 

- What’s the matter? - he asked

- Nothing, I just wanted to ask you, do you know what happened recently? Riley asked

- With what? Bruce asked

- With my family. Riley said

- Yes, Leonardo told me, he took you to your house to get your things. There is no need to mention things that have passed. As the Knight’s daughter-in-law, it is better for you to be safe.

Riley breathed a sigh of relief.

- Alright, I will leave you alone now. Excuse me. Riley said

- Riley are you alright? He asked her

- Yes thank you, I feel much better now that you know. She said

She turned toward the door when he stopped her.

- Before you leave I wanted to apologize. Bruce said

- What for? Riley asked

- Well I acted like a fool on our wedding night. I am sorry. Bruce said

- There is no need for you to be sorry, I understand. Riley said

- Do you? Bruce asked her

- Yes, this was a very fast wedding for both of us, and you were tired, so you acted the way you did.

- That is not an excuse to act or to speak to you like that. 

- Look Bruce, I told you I understand, and maybe if you did not speak or acted like that, maybe I would have done that. That is why I said I understand. 

He nodded. She went to her room and started thinking about what he said, and how he had apologized, she did not know what to think or how to feel so she decided to try to fall asleep. She turned off the light and slowly fell asleep.

Early the next morning, Riley changed into slightly formal clothes and went out. She wanted to find a job. She graduated, as an English author and screenwriter. During her time at school, she had good grades and a beautiful resume. After being interviewed by two companies, they directly expressed their willingness to hire her. She was a little excited. Because of Tabitha, she didn’t have a professional career or any experience after graduating. Now she finally did not have to hesitate. Now she could do whatever she wanted. 

She found a restaurant for lunch while researching the company information for the interview she had in the afternoon. Not long after sitting down, there was a sudden flash in front of her eyes. A woman wearing a mask and a peaked cap came up to her. The woman gritted her teeth and called her name: 

- Riley!

Riley looked at the person coming. She realized that the fully armed woman in front of her was actually Lisa!

- If you have something to say, say it, what are you doing? 

Riley looked up at her, her expression extremely calm. Lisa’s eyes were full of anger. She lowered her voice and said viciously.

- Riley, how are you? I am waiting for Erick. We are having lunch here. 

Just as Riley was about to avoid her, she saw a familiar figure walking in. Her eyes flashed and she steadily got up and slapped Lisa. When Erick saw Lisa being slapped, he walked quickly, stepped forward, and grabbed Riley’s wrist. When he saw that the person who slapped Lisa was Riley, his brows frowned fiercely, - Riley?

- Erick!

Riley’s eyes were filled with anger, and her voice became louder.

- What are you doing here? Erick asked. Why haven't you answered my calls?

- Well, my sister was quite busy. Lisa said. She got married. 

- Excuse me? he was stunned.

- Yes I got married. Now I will have to go, excuse me. Riley said

He grabbed her hand and turned her around. 

- You can not leave, you have so many things to explain.

- Let go of me. 

- Didn't you hear her, she said to let her go. A calm manly voice said.

When they turned around she saw those amazing green eyes again. It was Leonardo. He was calm, but he had anger in his eyes and he was about to give his opinion on this matter. 

- Who the hell are you? Erick asked.

- I am the man she will go home with. She told her she had to go. 

Leonardo took her hand and continued toward the exit. Erick wanted to grab him, but the bodyguard intervened and stopped him. He was holding her and she could feel his strength. When they got out of the restaurant she withdrew her hand and only said.

- Thank you.

- No need to thank me like that. 

He grabbed her chin and kissed her.

They returned home. She went right away into her room and he went to the study. Bruce processed a few documents in the study and was about to go downstairs to drink some water. Riley’s room was not far from Bruce’s study. As soon as he came out, he subconsciously glanced at Riley’s room and found that Riley’s door was half-open. 

Bruce strode towards her room opened the door to look, and found that the light in the room was on and the bed was empty. He frowned and raised his wrist to check the time, it was almost eleven. Then he heard the shower. She was having a bath. He could imagine her and was aroused. He wanted to have her right here and now, but knew that if he did that he would fall in love with her, so he decided to get out of the room, close the door, and go downstairs. At that moment the bathroom door opened and she got out. He saw her in the bathrobe and was dazzled by her. When she saw him got scared.

- What are you doing here? - she asked.

He did not answer her, he just came next to her in 2 steps and kissed her. Her lips were gentle and her face was wet. He sensed that he liked the kiss so much and she could feel him. She tried to push him.

SLAP

She slapped him.

- Get out or I will scream, and I will tell Bruce everything.

- What will you say? That you seduced me?

- What? Listen here, get out or I will scream.

He realized that she was scared. He saw the fear in her eyes.

- I am sorry, please forgive me, do not be scared. I will never hurt you. I swear.

She was trembling. He tried to touch her, but she couldn't allow him to touch her, so she moved. He understood what was wrong and silently got out of the room.
