I lean forward, as much as I can without touching him and close my eyes while I answer. I might as well be honest with him, I don’t want to jeopardize this opportunity. “Every time I sleep I dream about the night that man attacked me, I see his glowing red eyes and I swear I can feel it all over again. It’s so.. real.” When I open my eyes again I see he’s taken a step back and his eyes are squinted, as if he’s thinking it over. Then he’s back to looking at all my scars. He reaches forward his thumb is tracing over the claw marks on my shoulder but not in an intimate way, more out of curiosity, “These?” He asks. “Well it’s pretty obvious isn’t it?” I answer a little too honestly. I want to shove the other foot into my mouth but then he smirks and grabs my wrist, which at the moment is up at my face because I instantly covered my mouth once I said that. He takes it away from my mouth and studies my wrist “These?” He runs his other thumb over the scars there. “I always wanted a barbed wire tattoo, turns out it’s not exactly my favourite,” I say. He smirks again and drops my wrist. Then his brows furrow in confusion as he looks at the top of my other shoulder, “Bite mark?” he runs his finger tips over it, “Why didn’t these heal?” He looks at the one by my hip as well. “My wolf says it’s because I was human when I was injured, she could only heal so much, she still tries though, such a perfectionist.” I say but I feel Star roll her eyes in my mind, “I’m trying to help you,” she says. “I know Star, I meant it with love, you should feel that,” I tell her. I come back to the real world and notice he said something and I missed it. “Damn it, I did it again didn’t I?” I ask him. He has such a boyish smile, “You’re going to have to work on that to little wolf,” he says and turns to walk away. “That’s what I’m here for,” I tell him, “and I’m not that little.” Though compared to him, my 5’3 self was pretty tiny. He takes a look around and picks up the bag of charity clothes I was given and tosses it to me. Thanks to Stars’ quickness I catch it easily, “Get changed, your escort will be here for 6am to pick you up and take you to your first training session,” he says then walks out the door.
Okay, that sucked. I just had two men I don’t know scan over all my scars, great I feel so completely revealed. The one thing I really didn’t want anyone to see, but I guess it might of helped me out with the Alpha believing what happened to me. The word “survivor” rang through my thoughts and I know Star is trying to hint it to me without saying it outright. There is something about this Alpha that feels different from the last, which for that I am grateful, but there’s something else. Maybe it’s the mutual feeling that we’ve met before that creates this comfortable banter between us. It’s good to know my natural sarcasm and stubbornness from my human life is still wildly alive along with my ability to literally let words just fly out of my mouth before I can stop them. You’d think having a wolf in your head would help. Star huffs, “I can only do so much.” I laugh out loud as I change into leggings and a long sleeve work out top.I grab my wine glass and force down another sip trying to wash away the sins forming in my head. Noah takes another sip before finally replying, “What if I do like you?” My eyes snap to his. “You don’t even know me,” I say, trying to back track already, my breath faltering. “Do I need to know everything about you to be attracted to you?” His smirk makes my heart rate pick up speed. “Those are two very different things, don’t you think?” I tell him. “I think they can also go hand in hand,” he counters. I can’t help my breathing as it picks up pace as well now. “Are you saying you’re not attracted to me Akira?” He confidently asks. “I-….” I’m left speechless. His blunt reactions are catching me off guard and I’m not sure how to react to it. Physically, my body is reacting positively to his words and Stars’ purrs through the bond aren’t helping. “I’ll take that as a yes,” he’s full on grinning now, and I fear I might never want him to stop. “You’re extremely confident Noah,” I say as I

“What else would you like to know little wolf?” He asked in a slightly playful manner. As the one question that forever aches through my soul burns in my mouth, the server drops off another wine bottle and I hurriedly take it, pouring a huge glass. Noah’s eyebrow did the signature move as he clicked his tongue. “Be careful,” he warns. I take a sip so big my cheeks puffed out with the amount of the liquid taking over my mouth and rapidly sliding down my throat. “Why me?” I finally ask. “Why you what?” A whisper of irritation slid through me, “Why did he choose me?” I study his face as if it holds every answer. His forehead tightened, shadows gathering above his eyes, “I’ll do whatever it takes to find that answer for you Akira, but right now I have no idea,” his answer cracks a little piece of my heart, but I know it’s not his fault, why would he know? “I’m sorry,” he murmurs softly as he reaches for the bottle and pours the same amount I did into his glass. My lips twitch as I force
“To be quite honest, I can’t tell you the last time I ever went on a date,” Noah says. “I just thought, after you asked for steak, that it would be a good idea to get you out of the cabin for a night and give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have.” The slight rejection stings but I shove those feelings away. They are not going to do me any good so it’s better to pretend they don’t exist at all and definitely don’t act on them. My mind is racing at a mile a minute now with questions I need to ask, answers I need to know. “Is that why you’re being nice to me now, because I’m a super special turned wolf?” I ask. “You have absolutely no reason to trust me. No reason to believe anything that comes out of my mouth.” I ramble on, my attitude peaking through slightly, “So tell me Alpha Noah, why did you agree to have me “audition” for your pack?” I look at every inch of his face, my eyes roaming over every feature. I watch his jaw clench but his stoic expression remains. H
I stare at myself in the mirror, I look good. Apart from my scars of course. “You’re beautiful Akira, and maybe with the more information we get I can learn to heal you fully,” Star says. I wonder if I really would want my scars healed now. I feel like they show I’m a survivor, which makes me hate them a little less. “You are a survivor,” Star says. “We are survivors,” I add. “I wouldn’t be here without you, and you went through just as much as me,” I sigh. It’s the part of my story I’ll never forget, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to let it define me. The more I learn about my life, the more I’ll be in control of it. There are villains in every story, but I won’t give them more than a chapter in mine. I quickly use the washroom and let the cold water run on my hands for a while trying to cool down before going back out there. As I sit down back at the table I notice there’s a desert in front of my seat. The tiramisu looks absolutely delicious and has my full attention. “I ordered the
