LOGINChapter 5
Roman's POV
The orange glow of the sunset made the whole place look like a fairytale land in a disney.
Now I get why Kelly was so adamant about having an evening wedding at the backyard.
The whole place was decorated with flowers of different types and rafters all strung together to form different beautiful shapes. The lighting was one of a kind with some sort of detailed repetitive pattern.
Aside the decorations, Kelly was really a sight to behold.
The vintage white gown looked like it was custom made for her and the bouquet in her hands was really large.
Chris is one lucky bastard
I couldn't blame him for weeping like a kid at the sight of his beautiful bride
But I still didn't miss the opportunity to tease him
They said their vows, each saying “I do” with so much enthusiasm that I almost wanted to gag at their silly faces
I guess I'll never understand how people find this thing called love
It was now the reception
The room was crowded with people chatting amongst themselves, each with a glass of champagne in their hands.
The room was also beautiful decorated that it occupied 50% of people's conversation but my mind did nothing to appreciate the decor as it was occupied on a certain brunette
She had managed to weave herself into my life
Our little chit chat earlier at the corridor had got me so worked up
Her sharp mouth could get her into trouble
Her eyes shone with fire but at the same time, a flicker of fear crossed her features
How could someone be sassy and at the same time shy?
That brunette was a mystery that I planned on unraveling
Just a few words with her and my cock was throbbing, needing a release inside her and the tight dress that showed all her curves was not helping.
All I wanted to do was take her right there in that corridor but I still had a sane mind so I walked away instead to take care of my blue balls
This woman would be the death of me
Scanning the crowded room for a while, I spot her standing beside Kelly who was chatting with a
scrawny guy.
The guy seemed to be rather interested in my brunette, looking at her with so much admiration.
My blood boiled but a sense of comfort engulfed me as I noticed that brunette seemed uncomfortable with him
Without hesitation, I marched with long strides to rescue her
She could deny it all she wants but she'll always be my damsel in distress
I stopped in front of them putting on my best megawatt grin and Kelly's attention immediately turned to me with a dazzling smile on her face
“If it isn't the newest bride” I announce taking my hands out of my slacks as Kelly engulfs me in a warm embrace
“Awwwwn” Kelly cooed with a pat on my back. “You're just so sweet Romie” She added that stupid nickname knowing how much I hate me
This woman could annoy me to my death
I wonder how Chris keeps up with her
Good thing I wasn't here to see her
My eyes meet with my object of interest, the scrawny guy still trying to gain her attention
“Nice meeting you, Kelly and..” I pause
“Oh! Forgive my manners, Roman this is India…India Seethal “ She said grabbing brunette's hand
India Seethal
I could finally put a name to that pretty face
“Indy, this is Roman Alkali “ She concludes gesturing back and forth
“Nice to meet you again, India Seethal “ I roll out her name in a seductive manner with a purposeful smirk on my face while thrusting my hand out for a handshake
Her soft hands brush mine and this simple acts reignites the connection between us.
Certain body parts in me flutter as I make contact with her
I realize how cold my hand is compared to her warm ones
Her gaze locks with mine but it drops to my lips and I don't find it hard to guess where her line of thought is
“My pleasure” She spoke out softly bringing me out of my dirty thoughts
“Woah Woah Woah” Kelly began mischievously “ Again? That means you've met before now?” She asks facing India
“I…Well we met…not like that but…” she stutters off and I cut in to save her from Kelly's inquisitive stare
“Got lost trying to find where the fuck the bathroom was and she helped me” I blurt out which is not totally a lie
I was searching for the bathroom and then I got lost before meeting the helpless brunette who was struggling with wearing heels
Kelly does not look so convinced and I'm certain that she'll be squeezing answers out of India the second I leave here
I put her in this tight spot so it's only right if I get her out of it
“Hey India, would you do me the honor of dancing with me” I asked softly with my hands stretched out
India seems to consider my request as she glances at Kelly and after seeing that all knowing look on her face, she laces her hands with mine and I drag her away
I look over at Kelly to see her fuming while I had a good laugh
Kelly 0
Roman 1
Watching the damsel in my arms, I get carried away
Her eyes are searching everywhere but me
Twirling her for a bit, I settle her in my arms, my hands on the small of her back as I drink in her beauty once again
Her green orbs seem to brighten my life
Her lips stiffen in what looks like annoyance
Oh sweetie,
This is just the tip of the iceberg
I plan to annoy your panties off you
“Don't I atleast deserve a thank you” I ask trying to make a conversation while she sways in my arms
“For making it look like we've known each other for ages but keeping it a secret from Kelly?” She retorted glaring daggers at me
“Fair enough” I reasoned “But you know I did save you from her follow up interrogation” I state with a cocky grin
“As if I could escape Kelly's questions forever?” She scoffed rolling her eyes which I found adorable
Adorable?!
“You could just make up something” I said soothingly
My hands brush down her arm and she shivered in response as a wicked smile made it way to my lips
It's good to know that I'm not the only one who's affected
“You didn't seem too comfortable with him” I start off studying every expression that makes Its way to her face
“With who?” She questions seeming puzzled
“The guy who you were in a conversation earlier, scrawny looking with piercings and curly hair, ring a bell?” I try to describe him
“Oh!” She exclaims in realization. “ He's just a loyal fan” She says with a sigh
“I'm sorry fan?!” I ask not trying to show my surprise but failing
“Are you some sort of secret Mariah Carey or something?” I ask searching desperately for answers
But all she did was break into a fit of laughter
This was my first time seeing her laugh genuinely and it was melodious
She threw her head back with reckless abandon while her shoulders shook as she cracked up a laugh
“That's very funny you know, I actually love Mariah Carey but you thinking I'm some sort of secret singer? Nah, that's too far “ She replied without looking shy
“You know the fact that you don't know who I am makes me feel even more comfortable with you “ She continued now looking directly at me
So she was comfortable with me?
“Who are you India Seethal?” I ask itching to know the woman who always blew hot and cold
“How about you find out for yourself” She said, her voice purring with desire and her eyes filled with undeniable want while her hands glided all the way down to the button of my shirt
Jesus!
I wasn't bluffing when I said that this woman will be the death of me
One minute, she's shy and the next, she unveiling all her claws at me like a wild kitten
I can't wait another second to not go with the flow before her other side will kick in and she'll scurry off like a scaredy cat
“Then I'll suggest we get out of here, not sure I need Kelly's ever curious eyes on me” I say and she stiffened as if I had struck a nerve
There goes my plans with her
A glimmer of hope shines as she gives me a bold and beautiful smile that enhances her features
“Yeah, let's get outta here” She agrees and I don't need to be told twice as I grab her hands and made use of the exit
I am about to unravel this mystery brunette who has weaved her way into my life and I can't fucking wait!
Chapter 110India’s POVIt was officially a week since I walked out on Roman in his office.I didn’t know what Kelly was plotting. In hindsight, that should have been my first clue that something was wrong or right.Kelly plotting was different from Kelly spiraling. There was a sharpness to her eyes again, a focus that had nothing to do with survival and everything to do with intention. She moved through my apartment with purpose, phone constantly buzzing, scribbling notes, whispering to herself like she was directing an invisible orchestra.“You’re smiling,” I told her one afternoon, watching her pace the living room. She stopped mid-step. “Am I?”“Yes,” I said flatly. “Which is suspicious.”She smiled wider. “Maybe I’m just happy.”“Kelly.”She waved me off. “Don’t interrogate a pregnant woman. It’s bad karma.”I narrowed my eyes. “You’re scheming.”“I’m organizing,” she corrected. “There’s a difference.”I should have pushed harder. But life had been calmer. Quiet in a way that f
Chapter 109India’s POVThe first thing I noticed wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t vomiting or tears or some movie-perfect moment of realization. It was the way Kelly flinched when she took off her bra.We were getting ready for bed, if you could call collapsing onto opposite sides of my apartment “getting ready.” The living room light was dim, the city outside reduced to a low hum, and Kelly stood near the bathroom door, wincing as she unclasped.“Everything okay?” I asked, absently scrolling through my phone. She nodded too quickly. “Yeah. Just sore.”I looked up.“Sore how?”She shrugged, avoiding my eyes. “Just… sensitive. Probably stress.”Stress.The universal excuse for everything that didn’t want to be examined too closely.I didn’t push. Not then. But my brain filed it away. The second thing was the nausea.Kelly had always been iron-stomached. She was the woman who could down espresso on an empty stomach and still argue coherently about tax policy. The woman who once ate street
Chapter 108Roman’s POVRussia greeted me with steel skies and colder silences.I came here to do business. After surviving, I had to get my head back into the game.Moscow always did that, welcoming you like a challenge instead of a city. Grey stretched endlessly above the skyline, concrete and glass rising with unapologetic authority. Power lived here. Not the loud, flashy kind, but the kind that sat quietly in rooms and decided who survived the next decade.I should’ve felt grounded.Instead, everything felt… hollow. The car rolled through the gates of Kristov Volkov’s compound just outside the city, tires crunching over gravel, armed guards nodding us through with familiar precision. This was old ground for me. Familiar territory. Deals made here reshaped markets, rerouted billions, and buried ghosts.Normally, I thrived on it.Today, my mind kept drifting, unwanted, persistent.India’s eyes. The way they’d gone cold instead of loud. The way she’d flinched when I said I loved he
Chapter 107India’s POVI don’t remember how I left Roman’s building.I remember the elevator doors closing.I remember the mirror, my face pale, eyes too bright, lips pressed together like they were the only thing holding me upright.I remember breathing like it was something I had to relearn.In.Out.Don’t fall apart here.By the time the car pulled away from the curb, the city blurred into color and motion, and my chest finally caved in on itself.I pressed my forehead to the cool glass and let the tears come, silent, furious, relentless. The kind that didn’t ask permission. The kind that felt like grief tearing its way out through my ribs.I hadn’t screamed.I hadn’t thrown anything.I hadn’t even said the things burning my tongue.I’d just… left. And somehow that felt worse. The office lights were already on when I arrived, the familiar hum of productivity buzzing around me like a cruel joke. My world had just imploded, and everyone else was still replying to emails, still arg
Chapter 106Roman’s POVThe moment the door opened, my life split into before and after.India.Her name thundered through me like a prayer I was too late to say.I shoved Harper away so hard she stumbled back a step, my hands burning as if her skin had scalded me. The space between us felt poisoned now contaminated by the exact second India walked in and saw the worst possible version of the truth.“India, wait…” I took a step toward her, panic clawing up my throat. “This is not what it looks like.”God, I hated those words the instant they left my mouth. They sounded weak. Clichéd. Like every lie ever told by men who deserved to lose the women they loved. But I wasn’t lying. Not about this.Harper laughed softly behind me.That sound snapped something feral loose in my chest.I turned on her, voice lethal. “Get out.”She blinked, feigning innocence. “Roman, relax…”“Now.”India’s hand rose between us like a blade.“Don’t,” she said quietly. One word. Final. Devastating.I froz
Chapter 105India’s POVMorning didn’t feel fragile anymore. It felt… possible.Guillermo’s small hand was warm in mine as we walked up the steps of his school, his backpack bouncing against his spine with every reluctant step. His lower lip trembled, eyes glossy, still shaken from everything that had happened to his mother.Roman told him last night and as a kid, he was worried sick.“I don’t want to go,” he said softly.“I know, Guille.” I crouched in front of him, smoothing his hair back. “But you’re very brave. And brave boys get rewards.”His eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What kind?”“An irresponsible amount of candy,” I whispered. “The kind your mom would pretend not to notice.”That earned me a smile. A small one but real.“And no tantrums?” I added. He nodded solemnly. “Promise.”I kissed his forehead and watched him disappear into the building, my chest tightening and loosening all at once.Alive.Rory was alive. Guillermo was safe. Roman had finally told me the truth. And
