Natasha’s POV

The air in Lucien’s room was heavy, thick with the weight of his scent—cedar and musk, a heady mixture that clung to every surface and wove itself into my senses, making it hard to think straight. My heart pounded, a frantic rhythm against my ribcage, as I sat on the edge of his bed, my hands gripping the burgundy sheets as though they could tether me to reality. The moonlight filtered through the heavy curtains, casting silver streaks across the room, illuminating the sharp lines of his silhouette where he stood at the foot of the bed. His presence was overwhelming, a force that seemed to pull the very air toward him, leaving me breathless. His shirtless torso gleamed faintly in the dim light, the contours of muscle and shadow drawing my gaze despite my best efforts to focus on the words I needed to say.

My questions hung in the air for a couple of seconds without getting a reaction from him.

His expression didn’t shift, but I saw the faintest tightening of his jaw, the

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   170: Are you guys a thing

Natasha's POV"I saw my wolf!"My mom's head snapped towards me instantly."You what?""My wolf... I saw her."Her face lit up instantly, "Oh my God, this is Good news. Natasha my girl." She said almost in tears."When did you see her? How did she feel? What colour is she?" The questions stumbled out of her mouth like she had been waiting for ages to say them."I saw her like three days ago, and I only saw her in the mirror, so I don't know what she feels like yet." I admitted."We could check her out tonight at midnight, what do you think?"Before I could give a reply, my phone buzzed. "I just got home." Lani informed me as soon as I picked the call."Oh, thank goodness." My mom sighed in relief."I’m glad you got home safe."Lani paused for a bit. "Nattie, I'm so sorry I had to leave like that, I really wish I could stay a little longer. At least till you're fully recovered."I shook my head even when I knew she couldn't see me. "It's totally fine. You've done enough already.""Than

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   169: My wolf

Natasha’s POV“Finallyyyy,” Lani said collapsing into the hospital bed. “I’m so glad you can finally move back to your room.”“You know, this place has never been convenient enough to gossip.”My mother laughed a little, not like she planned it, But Lani always had a way to pull that reaction out of people.Lani and my mother almost never left my side since I woke up, and the nurses testified to them being here throughout the time I was unconscious too.The total time I spent in the hospital was very close to a month, I knew Lani had important things to do back at home. Even if she didn’t tell me the whole list, but the once she had told me about before the incident were quite a lot. Yet she chose to stay back and take care of me.“Thank you so much for staying, Lani.” My mom beat me to it.Lani brushed it off. “Oh ma’am, please don’t make me feel emotional. You know I’d do anything for Natasha. She’s my little one, so I have to take care of her.” She said, rubbing my hair like one wo

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   168: Tool

Elder Hadrek’s POV“Don’t fucking keep me waiting!” Her pissed voice came through the speakers urging me to hurry up.I couldn’t just move out anyhow, this is the damn Lycan’s Kingdom for crying out loud. But how could I say that to her, all I could reply was.“I’ll be there soon.”With that, she ended the call.I let out a heavy sigh, closing my eyes to say a prayer before I finally stepped out of the room with a heavy cloak hung over my body.It was the middle of the night after all, the cold in the air was capable of freezing anyone.I took all the shortcuts I knew but it sure was a struggle. I even had to bath myself in masking spray to be able to successfully embark on this mission. And trust me, it’s been like this every time we’ve had to see. One would think that the more you do it, the easier it becomes, but not in this case.“Oh welcome great Hadrek of Dark moon Kingdom.” She started as soon as I came in sight. “His royal majesty.”“Can you just quit the drama.” I replied, pi

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   167: Something ain't right

Lucien’s POVIt’s been two days since she woke up, yet not a word had been said. She was responding to everything, treatments and others, but she refused to say a word.I didn’t know if this was just her choosing to stay quiet or it was the impact of what had happened to her.“It’s like that sometimes.” Her mother said and she sat by her bed.Of course.Nevertheless, it was finally good to see her recovering.Back at the office, I opened my secret drawer and took out the file once again. Since the day I took it, that’s where I tucked it so no one could get access to it.My phone kept buzzing on the desk, but it’s face was down so I didn’t even see who it was that was calling. And then I wasn’t interested in speaking to anyone at the moment.I grabbed those papers like they meant everything, like if I let them go, they had the power to break everything I had worked so hard for.Of course, they did.My phone continued to buzz and I continued to ignore it.“King Lucien?” I soon hear Gavr

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   166: Awake

Lucien’s POVShe didn’t answer. Not at first. She just stood there, staring at me. Like she was waiting for the perfect moment to hurt me again. Like even her silence was a weapon, and she knew exactly how to use it. The files were scattered between us, all those histories ripped open, bloodlines turned into nothing but ink and signatures. My signature, right there, like a scar I could never scrub off.I’d learned how to hold rage inside me, to let it simmer instead of explode. But this was different. This wasn’t the kind of anger you use in a fight. This was the kind that breaks things. The kind that splits you open from the inside.“Answer me!” I barked, the sound ripping out of my throat, raw and feral. The walls vibrated faintly, the air thickening with my power whether I wanted it to or not. “Did you kill Korah too?”For a second, I saw it. Just a flicker. Not guilt. Not fear. Just… acceptance.“Lucien,” she said slowly, finally, her voice calm in a way that made me want to tear

  • When My Mate Chose Another, the Lycan King Chose Me   165: Not Possible

Lucien’s POVThe place was quiet. Two guards stood at the entrance. Not mine though. They straightened when they saw me, eyes sharp, hands already moving. One of them gestured politely, almost apologetic.“Your Majesty,” he said. “For precautionary reasons—”I didn’t let him finish. I spread my arms slowly, deliberately. “Check,” I said. “I’d hate for you to feel unsafe.”Their hands moved over me, careful but searching. No blades. No gun. No poison. When they finished, one nodded and stepped aside. The doors opened.I walked in.She stood with her back to me.She stood tall. Straight. Not a single hair out of place. Like this was just another meeting, not a showdown with the son she’d turned into her enemy. I felt something sharp twist in my chest. Natasha was lying in a hospital bed, barely breathing, and my so called mother stood here looking untouched. Untouched and unbothered. How could she?I stopped a few steps behind her. “You know I could rip you apart with my bare arms if I
