Luna Jenna's POV
"What is it, doctor? Is my baby safe?" I asked nervously as I pressed a hand to my heart.
"Y-yes, Luna. The baby is safe and you're not under labor."
"You sure? Then why did I have such strong contraction pain?" I caressed my womb as the thought of what happened an hour ago sent a shiver down my spine.
I was in my bedroom, reading a pregnancy book when the pain began. Since I'm close to my delivery date, I thought it's time for the baby to come. But at a point, the pain became so intolerable, I thought I'm dying.
"I-it happens, Luna. You're carrying an Alpha's son. H-he's got to be strong and strong kids make you go through such experiences from time to time. You'll feel like your womb and chest are about to explode. But nothing to worry about." The pack's doctor said nervously.
I giggled and agreed, "You're right. This baby's been giving me a hard time since I entered my third trimester."
Then I left the cabin, carefully holding my womb. To be honest, I think Henry's reaction was a little bothering. He was sweating and stammering as though he was scared about something. Maybe he was worried about me. I shrugged and ignored it.
I entered the elevator and fetched my phone. I was about to call my husband, Alpha Chris, when my wolf, Gianna snapped, 'Are we forgetting something?'
"Are we?" I asked as I don't remember if we are.
'Jenna," My wolf hissed. "Your purse. It's in there.'
"Oh! This baby's making me forget things. I'll get it now." I slapped my head and quickly pressed the button to open the door before it started its way down.
'Seriously? Are we going to pretend like nothing happened? Dammit, Jenna, Chris didn't come to the hospital for you. Hell, he didn't even answer your calls. What if you were really in labor?'
"He must've been busy."
'Busy? He couldn't be so busy that he couldn't come for his pregnant wife!'
I stayed quiet because anything I said would've sent her exploding. Gianna has been pissed off from our mate for the last few months. She thinks Chris is not available to us as a husband for his pregnant wife should be. He's always away.
I've been getting this contraction-like pain since the start of my third trimester. And Chris hasn't been around to help me at all. Well, I know he's busy because he's an alpha. My wolf doubts it.
I was near the doctor's cabin when his muffled voice hit my ears. I ceased all motions as I took support of the wall. The doctor was talking to Chris in a hushed voice. But given my heightened hearing, I could hear him well even though the cabin is sound-proof.
"Alpha, Luna Jenna was here. She's feeling the pain. I don't recommend you doing it again while she's still pregnant. It's dangerous. She could've lost the baby." The doctor whispered.
"Is she okay? Fúck. I didn't intend to do it. I was drunk and I couldn't control myself. I hope the baby is safe." Chris' voice came from the phone and I clutched my chest.
What is he talking about? What is it that he couldn't control?
I didn't have to brainstorm much because what the doctor said next gave me my answer... Along with a pang that almost stopped my heart.
"They both are fine. But I'll warn you again, Alpha. Avoid having séx right now. It could be fatal for her. The pain this time was dangerous. Luckily, she's a strong wolf. She endured the pain. Had it been some other she-wolf, she could've died from the pain, and the baby too." My body went limp.
There was a bench next to me. I plopped in it as my eyes stung with tears.
Chris... My mate and husband of two years has been cheating on me? And the pain I've been mistaking for the pain of pregnancy was nothing but the pain of his betrayal? He's been shagging some other she-wolf while I'm carrying his child?
I couldn't breathe. It was as if my head was being shoved deep into water. But then the doctor's voice came again and I turned my head to listen.
"Sorry, Henry. I didn't mean to do it. I know what you said earlier. It's just..." Chris trailed off.
"I can understand, Alpha. Love can make you do stupid things." Doctor Henry laughed teasingly. "And Miss Sasha is a beautiful woman. You both look good together. It must be hard to keep your hands off her. But it's a matter of a few days. After the baby's here, you can easily reject her and be with the true love of your life."
My throat closed upon hearing that. What the hell? Sasha... That's the name of Chris' first love. She was his college sweetheart. But she disappeared without giving Chris closure one day. It was two months before I met Chris and we identified each other as mates.
Chris was broken. He was in pieces. While my own life hadn't been very good, I did all that was in my control to put his pieces back and make him one again. And I managed it. Chris was supportive. He loved me. At least, that's what I thought.
'Jenna, your heartbeat is rising. Please be calm. Think about our baby.' My wolf said past the ache in her throat. She was as startled as me but I'm glad one of us was composed right now.
"Thanks, Henry. You've been a huge support through all this. I'm glad you understand my feelings. Otherwise, I thought no one would support my decision. But you're there." Chris said.
"I don't know how much longer I can pretend everything is normal around Jenna," Chris admitted. "Every time I look at her, I remember that she's carrying a child I never wanted this way."
My fingers curled against my clothes.
He was talking about me. About our baby. And he sounded more troubled by having to pretend to be my husband than by the fact that he had betrayed me.
"We are males, Alpha. It's difficult to let go of our first love. Agree, Luna Jenna is people's favorite and she does her duty well. But a pack is nothing without a strong Alpha; and your strength lies in your first love." Henry replied. "I was so happy for you when three months ago you told me Miss Sasha is back. So it's not wrong to want to be with her."
"I've spent months pretending that Jenna still matters to me," Chris said bitterly. "I can't keep doing that when Sasha is finally back in my life."
My heart cracked at those words. Months. He had been thinking about leaving me for months while I had been believing my husband was simply busy.
"Being with her gives you peace. It's not like you're going to abandon Luna Jenna. After divorce, she can still stay as your son's nanny. She should be glad for that."
I choked with laughter that escaped my lips. Nanny to my own baby? I fisted my hands as my wolf's wrath was compelling me to go inside and rip into doctor Henry.
I thought he respected me. But he's a snake.
"Thanks, Henry. If it wasn't for you, I would have cast Sasha away. You see, it would've looked bad if I left my pregnant wife for my first love. But your suggestion saved me. Since I'm willing to keep my child, the pack shouldn't object now."
"I won't have to keep pretending forever," Chris continued. "Once Jenna gives birth, I'll be free to be with Sasha without hiding it."
A chill ran up my sound. My husband already planned what would happen to me after I gave birth.
"Isn't that fair! You’re keeping the child even though it was conceived through sperm donation. It's not your real son but you want to keep it. That shows your kindness. As for Luna Jenna, well, she'll get a huge manor outside the pack with a lot of money. She should be grateful."
"Sometimes I thought it would be easier if Jenna and the child simply disappeared," Chris said coldly.
My blood ran cold.
He had thought about killing me. He had thought about killing our child.
"I even considered doing it myself," he continued. "But I don't want to stain my hands with her blood. She's still my mate, after all. And killing a pregnant woman would create too many problems for me."
My hand instinctively moved toward my stomach.
He wasn't angry. He wasn't speaking out of frustration. My husband was discussing my death as if it were not me, but a rogue. H-how could he be so cruel?
"Once the child is born, I can get rid of Jenna without making myself a murderer." Chris said. My heart shattered.
"What if she refuses to leave easily? I mean, sometimes you have to take the wrong way to achieve the right result."
Chris was silent for a moment before answering, "Then I'll make sure she has no choice."
Those words plummeted over me like a bolt of lightning. I rose and dashed towards the elevator as I couldn't hear more. I frantically pressed the button. The elevator came after two minutes. I stepped in while holding my mouth. My heart was banging in my chest.
'Jenna, control yourself.' Gianna whispered as I was unable to stop my tears.
However, my body was not in my control. My husband’s betrayal and the treachery of the pack doctor, whom I had respected and regarded as a father figure in my life, threshed its way through me.
M-my husband… I worshipped him and h-he… I clutched my chest. It was painful.
The man I had loved had already imagined a life without me. Worse, he had imagined how to make me disappear from it.
'H-how could they do this to us, Gianna? H-how..." Suddenly the walls of the elevator started to spin around like it was caught amidst a whirlpool.
Black and white dots danced at the edges of my vision, and then everything was consumed by darkness.
Tbc…

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug
Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it
Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was
Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team
Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
