Would You Still Love Me The Same
Would You Still Love Me The Same
Author: Dazzling Star

Prologue

Once again Jacob shortly darted at Sofiya and back to the road. He was trying his best to capture her appearance and imprint it on his heart as fresh as he can for the future.

Sizzling long eyelashes protecting her green eyes, thin pink lips which were pulled between her white teeth time and again, fair skin which was sparkling every minute when moonlight was falling on it, long slender fingers which ran in her high forehead time to time, almost every detail of her was learned by Jacob very carefully each at a time.

“J…” in her melodious voice Sofia called out, running her fingers in her long black hair.

“Hmmm…” replied Jacob, giving a short glance at her.

She glanced at him for a while without saying anything and withdrew her gaze back at the silent empty road. She was trying to break the silence which was hovering for a long time between them but the fret in her heart was not allowing her to speak anything further.

“What is it, Sofi?” questioned Jacob, slowly losing his grip on the steering and again clutching it tightly.

“I… Um… can’t you stay here with me?” she questioned stammering.

“You know I cannot let my pack down. Being their alpha I have a responsibility which I need to fulfill.” Jacob punctuated with a long deep breath, as he too was not able to control himself knowing the fact that he was going to leave Sofiya’s side the very next day.

Sofiya had piles of questions inside her head but she was not able to speak out any of it. She gulped all those questions back and managed to ask a question, which was soon going to clasp Jacob’s heart.

“Are we not going to get married and have a family?”

Jacob’s grip loosen but he was not able to get any answer to her question. The circumstances in which he was would not allow him to marry her or have a family.

He had taken an oath of protecting his pack for his whole life from the dark human world. Marrying Sofi would break his oath and would break his pack’s faith which he had done once. He didn’t want to break their faith again.

Also, Sofiya’s question gave a sharp pain in his heart. He knew clearly what his answer should be but he didn’t want to break her heart, probably not the night before their departure.

“Don’t worry human girl, my brother will soon find a solution for this and will marry you,” Jack from the backseat tried to break an awkward silence between them.

“Really?” Sofiya glanced at Jack with her hopeful eyes from the rearview mirror.

“Uhuh!” Jack nodded his head but chills ran through his body in a second when he noticed his brother glaring at him from the mirror.

“I was just trying to help,” he thought deep inside gulping hard.

“Don’t try to sow a seed of hope in her heart which I cannot water,” Jacob replied to Jack through his thoughts.

“I… I am sorry…” Jack lowered his head.

“J… stop,” Sofiya suddenly instructed.

“What? Why?” Jacob was surprised.

Sofiya popping her head out of the window said, “Someone is asking for a lift.” Soon after Sofiya said it Jacob got an instinct of danger and he glanced at the rearview mirror.

He saw a man wearing a black cloak standing at the side of the road and before Jacob could react anything, the man snapped his finger and a tree fell in the direction of their car.

Jacob sped the car and luckily they were able to pass the tree with no harm.

“Woah! That was close,” Jack said looking back, as Jacob looked back at the tree, suddenly Jack yelled, “brother watched out.”

When Jacob hastily drew his gaze back at the road, the man in the cloak was standing in the middle of the road. Jacob tried to press the break but it was not working. When the car got close to the man, the man snapped his index finger moving out of the way and the car somersaulted at the distance.

The scream of Sofiya echoing in Jacob’s ear made Jacob squint. He rubbed his eyes and tried to look around. He was seeing the things upside down as he was hanging on the seat of a somersaulted car.

He glanced at Sofiya who was also hanging on her seat with blood dripping down her head.

“Sofi…” Jacob called out but she didn’t give any response.

“No… no…. No… Sofi…” Jacob called out trying to free himself from the seatbelt.

When he finally was able to unblock the seatbelt, he crawled from the broken window and got out of the car.

“Jack…” he called out looking at the backseat and saw him unconscious hanging upside down.

With difficulty, Jacob marched to the other side of the road with his wobbly leg. When he leaned to take Sofiya out of the car, suddenly something hard hit his head.

He collapsed hard on the ground. Even though he tried his best to keep his eye open, he was not able to do that and soon everything went black.

After sometime when Jacob slowly regained his consciousness, pressing his hand against the ground he stood on his feet. Rubbing his blurry eyes, he looked around and found himself distance away from the car.

His eyes widened and tottering he tried to walk towards the car, but again he was hit hard on his head and then on his leg which made him fall on his knees. Soon after falling on his knees, a huge blast took on the car with fire hovering all around.

“No….” Jacob yelled and tried his best to get on his feet but he was so weak to get up.

“Kill him before he transforms himself, what are you waiting for?” A familiar voice came from his behind.

As Jacob swiveled his head to look at the person, he was hit on his head again, making him fall on his face. His olfactory was also not working as all he could smell was his own blood rushing down his nose.

He flipped with difficulty and lied on his back. With his blurry eyes, he was seeing two figures, surrounding him. One was the same man in a cloak and another was very familiar who was holding an iron rod in his hand. Jacob tried his best to see their faces but was not able to recognize them.

“Hit him,” the man in a cloak yelled and the last sentence Jacob heard was, “sorry brother!”

The iron was struck once again on his injured head with full force, which made him fall unconscious.
